Mobya opens her eyes to a bright sky and a dull headache. She knows everything must be ok by the quietness of her surroundings. She sits up and sees Agozur, Ayra, and the Merchant sitting and eating by the fire, and the basket next to her moving once in a while. She knows she has to tend to the babies but feels a hunger pang and decides to take care of that first. She grabs her bag and pulls a chunk of hard cheese from inside and eats it up with just a few bites. Still hungry, she grabs a piece of fruit from the bag and walks toward the trio. “Morning, folks”
Wraeven feels much better than he did last night. Finding some breakfast could help him get over last night's experience. He makes sure to say hello to each party member.
To Ayra, "Looks like another day on the road looking after the little ones. Then what?" He looks around for a black bird. It just stares back at him from the trees.
Ayra greets Mobya and Wraeven as they rise [and I'm sure she greeted Agozur too; I'm just realizing I neglected to say that in the post!]
As Wraeven sits beside her, she ponders his question. "I presume your Raven Queen will let us know what to do next. I am certain I was chosen to accompany you for a reason. I have no obligations right now - I have only just set out on my own - but I was looking for adventure and my path has led me here."
Oh and then I offer Wraeven a dried meat ration, and let him know that the merchant was s kind as to share some with me.
Once the Bugbear situation is explained to the Merchant, he will relax a bit (even more later when he hears Agozur's offer of the shield), and he will begin grooming and reharnessing the horses. He'll expertly prep the horses, so he can inspect their hooves and shoes, cleaning them and looking for any significant wear or burrs. Then once everyone wakes. The Merchant will share his plan to stay the evening at a stopover a few hours before the Spires, because of the late start that was necessary. He will also thank each of you for working so hard to not only protect his own goods but those of smaller merchants that he acts as middleman for.
Once Bacon and Mud wake, Bacon thanks Agozur but doesn't want to take something that important. He will ask if they can travel with you all for the day, "Maybe, iffin' we cross the Barrier with y'all, we might be findin' more 'greeable circumstances."
Unwrapping the extra bit of cloth he tied around his head to block the early morning sun from his eyes, Alesandair slowly rises out of his bedroll and stretches momentarily. Poking at the bruise to his abdomen from the hit he took last night, it feels a thousand percent better after resting, but still slightly tender to the touch. Scanning the camp to make sure everyone is still here and all the supplies hadnt been stolen again, he ventures over to where everyone else is gathering after packing up his supplies and dousing the fire.
Once everyone is awake, Ayra pulls 3 pouches containing 20 silver, 5 gold, and a small trinket that almost looks like an eagle made out of a glass-like substance. She lays them on the ground.
"I gathered these items from Gravel and Mayfly last night. What should we do with them? Should we return them to our new friends?"
Having been in the middle of a conversation with the Merchant, they will walk over, Mud says, "M-M-Mayfly w-was n-n-never really open 'b-b-bout it, but it b-be h-h-hers."
"As for the coins, those are yours to do with as you please. You found them, and are under no obligation to share if you do not wish to. Personally, i need to invest in a bow of some sort for better ranged combat."
Ayra, because of your elven heritage and lore, now that you look more closely in the sunlight, this emblem remind you of something you've learned of about Aerdrie Faenya. She is said to govern the realms of the Air, Weather, Freedom, Impulse, Fertility, and Birds. You know that in elven lore, Aerdrie appears to be a tall, elven woman with feathered hair and eyebrows. A pair of large bird-like wings, with feathers that constantly change color, sprout from her back.
"This appears to be a symbol of Mayfly's deity. I should not have removed it from her body." Ayra returns the item to her pocket and silently promises that she will find a fitting place to leave it later on.
"I will hold on to the coins as well for now. You have a generous spirit, Alessandair, however I do not believe that they are for me alone."
[Super apologies for the delay, this really is a busy few weeks for me. Trying to make an offer on a house for the first time and a bunch of stuff with work....but let's do this.]
Lil, reaches over and, handling it carefully, gets a quizzical face. "You're saying a harpy had this? Well, that seems like a cruel irony. Aren't those things supposed to be like vulture women? Not exactly what I think of when I see the elven Governess Faenya."
At this point, the Merchant will point to the sun, "We'ehl be hart preest tah get payst teh Bahreer buye soonseet. Weh beest geht moofin."
As everyone takes positions, you all notice the Merchant talking with the Bugbears and they will move forward to flank Silv'ar at the front. As the day rises and the ground seems to be firming up a bit the small wagons roll along, hooves clopping along before them. You all maintain vigilance especially after the events of the previous day, but as the morning moves to afternoon, you hear little more than a bit of quietly running water in the distance, a few sparrows making their homes in a dense bushes and leaves, and a casual sighting of a white-tailed deer. Then you see it, about 50 feet before you and down the road. It is blocking your path, leaning across the center and clearly making it impossible for the horses to continue on.
A good sized tree, maybe two feet round with a 15 foot canopy at its crown and approximately the height of a barn leans casually across the road resting on the trees of the other sided, like a man stumbling after a tankard to full for his own good. What would you like to do?
Wraeven would like to send "Lenore", (that's what he's taken to calling the bird that won't leave) down to the tree and fly around the area. [For 100ft he can see through its eyes]
He will hand you a small burlap pouch with 3 rations of dried meat, and wave off your attempt to pay. "Yah dit a guht seerveece meh leety"

"Much obliged." Ayra settles by the fire and eats one of the rations. She sits with Agozur and the merchant until the others wake.

"What is that bird-shaped thing? Maybe it has some significance to Bacon or Mud"
Ayra will show the object to the bugbears. "Does this item have any significance to you? It was retrieved from Mayfly's body."

Ayra holds the item up to catch the light from the sun, examining it more closely than she had before.

Nice Edgar Allen Poe reference ^
ooc: can we see the base of the tree where it was either uprooted, broken, or cut?
