Noticing Agency’s swift choice, Aedra sends the slightest of winks her way.Though not entirely sure whether she picked it up or not.I’m fine with the way we’ve divvied everything up, although if Bastion doesn’t want the ring I’ll take it.Water isn’t my favorite to be honest. She turns to Bastion and somehow manages to resist the urge to say, “Oh, honey…” aloud and instead comes up with, It’s okay, Bastion. You’re doing just fine. Can a suit of armor be adorable?Yes it can.I’m ready when you are.
You follow Rastave down to the holding cells, a few of the prisoners call out to you. Some for aid, some with new and interesting sexual propositions. You come to the cell of a man of about 50, his thinning salt and pepper hair sticking out at odd angles, he has the build of a once powerful man somewhat gone to seed. Despite being locked up he greets Rastave genially.
Whats all this Des? Is it my birthday? You come to sing me a song?
These folks here 'ave come to ask you about the night ye saw them shadowy men take Sind. Be straight with them, now, they're good folks trying to help.
Alright, what do ya wanna know?
Before you can speak
I’ll tell ya this much, don’t go believin all the stories these idjits are tellin now. They’re not 10 feet tall they don’t have wings nor tails. (To Agency) no offense miss, I’ve no problem wit your kind judge em by what they does, i says, and hang what they looks like on the outside, me exwife is half drow, ya know. What was oi sayin? Ah yes, these buggers ain’t orcs or hobgobbins or ogres their manshaped alright, but I ain’t ever seen a man move that fast. Or be that strong.. Well I’ve told ya all I know, let me out of here Des, I’m sober as a priest of Goldrün and that bastard last night earned the sore mouth he had this mornin.
I was more thinking Bastion would sink like a rock if he fell in water and thus would best use the ring of swimming. I was also considering that Bastion has attachments that let him create all manner of shields and weaponry it seems, while Thorok carries a shield and is dedicated to ensnaring foes.
"Hol' on friend, a moment's patieence if'n yeh'cd be so accommodating," Earthhand says as he approaches the cell. "Yeh say yeh ain't seen a man move tha' fast, did yeh notice anythen else aboot their appearance? And whereaboots didja git beset? Cidjeh mark it on a map?" He looks around at the rest of the party. "Seems'n summat unnatrual like's afoot..."
"No offeensee taken, yeh grea' metal lump," Earthhand pats Bastion firmly and affectionately on the back. "S'jus' Oi assumed yeh'd make best use o' teh ring while teh shield seemed best suited ter a druid such as meeself. Oi've an open mind though likee Oi've said."
I'm just gonna put it out there that I think there could be a better system for divvying up loot than dibs, especially in a play-by-post where people check up at different times. I'm in favor of making that sort of thing the topic of out-of-character discussion.
The gnome, Gelbin, clears his throat and adjusts his optics. The weapons and armor have no magical properties. Those twin blades are very interesting, I’ve never seen a drow kukri before.
Ackam rubs the kukris with both his hands and looks at them both. "Droo, eh? Anything else special about de blades?"Ackam says as he lets Gelbin examine them.
After having the kukris examined Ackam follows along with the troupe as Rastave leads them down the prison hallway to speak to Kalsh. As the prisoners make lewd gestures and yell at them Ackam laughs, not at them, but at what they are saying. When one says something lewd about Agency and her tail, Ackam lean forward to her as says "I dink ya got some fans down here."
After listening to Kalsh he asks him "Did ya notice if dey were maybe wearing any ding special, like magical boots, dat maybe made dem so swift? Also, can you give us a betta idea on how large they be? And last, do they attack only on certain night dependin' on the positions of the celestial skies or someding of dat sort?"
Gelben clears his throat while looking at the nonmagical items you looted from the drow. The chain shirts, the shield, and the swords are all made from what appears to be the same darkened metal. The kukris have no magical properties but would be fearsome indeed in the hands of someone who fights with two weapons. Feel free to bring any more interesting finds back to me, I’ve no problem letting you know whatever magical properties they got free of charge after you went and saved our sergeants bacon today!
I can certainly tell you where it happened, we were coming from the docks down towards Coldust. I can mark your maps if you like. As to their appearance, dark hooded cloaks, dark clothes, eeehhh... human sized I suppose. I didn't get a good look at their boots or any trinkets they might have been wearing. And the celestial skies? I never paid heed to anything like that, I couldn't tell ye about the firmament one way or the other.
'"Oi thankee kindly Gelben." Earthhand turns and upon closer inspection of the shield says "feh, Oi di'n realize it wos made o' metal, though an interesting one at tha'"
Thorok listens closely to Kalsh' word perfore tuning to address the rest of the party. "Whaddayeh think lads aen lassies? Ought we explore teh scene o' teh crime, or were any o' yeh thanken o' explorin elsewhere farst? Oi think Oi'm in good shape meeself, other than a strikin thirst."
Give me a moment Earthhand, I have a few strings that I would love to pull on before we leave.
Turning back to Kalsh, you have been very helpful, but I do have a few further questions. Did you happen to notice where they came from or where they took your friend to? Similarly, did you hear them speak at all? My goal is to find out some sort of motive, which seems to be most fleeting at the moment.
"Oy Ratsave, istee it true tha' this man is in thisee cell on account o' last night's drunkenness? If Varris has questions couldee we continue our conversation out frem bars?"

Desguin eyes Kalsh and chuckles. I reckon you've been in there long enough, Kalsh. He pulls the cell door open. You could have left this morning if you thought to check the door. Why don't you head over to Soldier's Ease and we'll meet you there after this lot speaks to the droo.
Sure and I'll go ahead tell Brin I'm drinking on your tab, yeh evil bastard. Kalsh heads for the exit. It was a pleasure meeting you all, I'll see you at the Ease shortly. He exits.
Right, the droo is right down here, he hasn't said much since we brought him in. he leads you a bit further down into a more private section of the jail. The drow sits on the bench in his private cell, his chest covered in bandages over his bolt wound. He sighs deeply as he sees your party.
He begins to speak in oddly accented elven. Hello, and what a pleasure it is to see you all again so soon. What wonderful accomodations you're arrainged for me. While I do appreciate the subterrainian feel to the room, the furnishing is a bit sparse. Now, before we get to my deposistion perhaps we could discuss the terms of my release?
Aedra responds to the prisoner in her elven tongue, My party and I were attacked with relatively little notice, so these are the best accommodations we could provide for now.I’m willing to listen to your terms, and then do you mind answering some questions?Aedra now looks to the rest of the group, Anybody want to ask anything specific?
We know our assailants have been making moves in the dark - our friend and his companions operate mostly in the evening. Perhaps they somehow knew our intentions and were sent to intercept our search party before we had even begun our investigation.
I did find this note on one of the fallen drow - it seems that even if what I posit isn’t the full truth these Drow are still designing dark mechanations at the behest of this L
Standing in front of the Drow, Ackam scratches his red beard and listens to him exchange words with Aedra and Bastion. When they are finished he looks at the Drow and asks "why are a bunch o' droos doing in da Arena in da first place? Your kind rarely come up to da surface without some nefarious business at hand,"he then flashes the Drow his new kukris "and tanks for dese. I'll make sure dey get some good use out of dem."

L? Let me see that. Desguin scans the note. Gods above, this is worse than we thought. He adresses the drow in plain but serviceable elvish. Who is this L? Who is your contact? Answer the questions or the only release you’ll get is the release of death. Intimidation 9
Any death you could imagine is nothing compared to what the matrons would think up for me should I be sent back to the depths. And before you strain yourself concocting something I can tell you truthfully I have no idea who this L is. The member of my party who dealt with our contact is currently decomposing not far from here. Ask a question I can answer and I’ll gladly do so. I’ll answer all your questions if you grant me passage far away from here when your are satisfied.

Ah, Zalnadan’s prized blades, may they bring you more luck than they did him. As for why we were here in the first place, someone, this “L” apparently, has been working with the matron of my clan, one Rhasghulda Val’Dinara. I cannot speak as to the exact nature of their partnership, but it’s been going on for some several months now and spans from the depths to the surface. My cadre and I were tasked with fomenting chaos in your city to distract from whatever it is they’re planning.
"Aye, aye, so, ya have no idea what dey were plannin', but do you know when and where dey were plannin' ta do it?"Ackam then turns to his crew and says "Funny how da timing wit dis L fella coincides wit..."Ackam looks over at the Drow and says in a low voice, "well ya knows where I'm going wit dis."
The drow looks Ackam quizzically while His question is translated. A word of warning to you, master hafling. Any drow you come across will not be happy when they see you wielding the weapons of our people. That’s some free advice, do with it what you will. As to your question, I’m afraid I don’t follow. What are you referring to? I wasn’t a party to the planning sessions for this scheme. Ah, the kidnappings? Yes, I know of them. Some kind of workforce if I recall correctly.

Ackam smirks at the drow "And a word of o' advice to you and yer droo folk. Don't eva feckin cross me or ya'll ends up like you're friendo Zalnadan’. (Intimidation: 18).What else can you recall about dese kidnappins'?"

Gotcha, that makes sense!
