Henry turns to the group. "I am going to turn it in for the night." Henry then makes his way back to the accommodation.
In the interest of sharing flavour and if anyone is in the rooms next door, they will hear some of this as Henry won't be particularly quiet about this.
Once he is in his room he will lock his door and put his satchel down on the floor. He will then pull out some chalk and draw a circle on the floor, ringed with runes in the primordial language. He then puts a small intricate bowl in the middle of the circle, which he fills up with water. In the middle of the bowl, he stands up a stick of Charcoal which he lights on fire, like a candle. Once he is set up, he sits down just outside the circle, crossing his legs and starts chanting in a foreign language (Primordial). At times, his voice sounds silky like flowing water, at other times his words sound like crackling fire. He does this for an hour, where the flame slowly burns down the charcoal. After an hour is up, the flame touches the water and there is an explosion of steam, some of which leaks out under the door (Find Familiar).Out of nowhere, there is a cranky voice, "Oi Gramps. What do you want this time?" Henry just smiles, "Its good to see you too, Fizz. We have a new mission, and it looks like we may be finding what we are looking for. But as always, will need you to keep watch whilst I rest" The cranky voice just grumbles something about having to do some work and about taking a nap instead.
Once it gets late (the time that most people would be asleep), Gimdir and Henry are able to hear the sound of some sort of meeting coming from another room in the tavern. If they want to try to hear anything, they can each make a Perception check.
Gimdir:
Musharib seems to be quite the expert on the albino dwarves and their history in Chult. He explains that the dwarves of Old Chult lived in vast strongholds under the mountain ranges. However, a few hundred years ago, intense volcanic activity began killing and driving out the dwarves. Attempts were made to recapture the ancestral home of the dwarves, but jungle creatures moved into the strongholds not long after the dwarves left. Musharib says that the albino dwarves are a group of dwarves that adapted to living in the jungle. He tells you that Chult was punished by the god Ubtao, and the albino dwarves are simply trying to regain Ubtao's protection by following the ancient spiritual rights of Chult's first people. He seems surprised that you don't know what Moradin's Gauntlet is. He explains that the first shield dwarves to arrive in Chult made their homes under the Kobold Mountains, and set to work forging and crafting to honor Moradin. Their first holy tribute was Moradin's Gauntlet, a large decorative glove crafted from the finest gems and metals. The firenewts took over after the dwarves were forced to flee. The firenewts are aggressive, wrathful, and cruel monsters who revere Imix, a false god of fire. On the topic on giant lizards, he knows less. He says that Chult has always been filled with them, and they can only be found in Chult. He has no idea why the humans race them. He tells you that the jungles are perilous, and it is best to keep a keen eye on watch for food, clean water, and predators.
Henry:
You can't find any interesting books in the hotel, however, the book that Volo gave you is quite interesting. It contains countless useful tidbits about animals and monsters, many of which you have never even seen or heard about. [OOC: This book will let you learn things about any animal you might come across. For example, you could figure out an animal's strengths or weaknesses in combat. If you ever want to look for something in the book, tell me and I can give you some info]
Scamper: The humans of Port Nyanzaru are extremely confused by the kobold in the dinosaur pen. Scamper is able to get some nice bonding time with the lizards that Jobal showed her. They seem to be taking a liking to Scamper, possibly because she looks similar to them in some ways. Scamper thinks that she might be able to confuse another rider's mount by yelling/screeching at it like a lizard.
Scamper has named the other lizards Pokey (the ytepka) and Grumpy. The name Little Bob confuses her, so she starts calling him Humongous Bob. Little Lightning is still her clear favorite.
Perception: 21 (If Henry can get help from his familiar, second roll for advantage: 8)
Henry will spend most of the rest day, inspecting Volo's guide and having discussions with Fizz about its contents. Between the two of them, they try to memorize what they can about the monsters they think they will encounter in the jungle. Henry will only leave the room for meals, which he heads down to the main room and orders whatever is available. Fizz will behind and keep reading the book and keep watch just in case.
Jasuri wants to spend some time figuring out the city. He'll walk around and talk to anyone that seems friendly. If there are any children among the beggars that are presumably there, he'll give them a few gp. As the sun set's he will find a temple to Lady Luck if one is present. If not he an be heard muttering prayers in his room.
Both Gimdir and Henry (with the help of his familiar) are able to hear a soft conversation. Unfortunately, the conversation is muffled by the walls between the rooms, and the two of you are only able to hear this:
One distinct voice seems to be leading the conversation "So I was walking in the jungles a few days ago, and this random guy and a dinosaur man just walked up to me. We ended up camping out near each other. The lizard guy was the weird part though. He told me a story about a city built by minotaurs. For some reason, he smelled like lemons." Another voice cuts in afterward "Hey! I think I might have heard about that city. Was it the one that those crazy snake cultists took over?" and a few moments later "Well I heard that the Halruuans were sending one of their fancy new airships to make the first map of Chult."
Finally, after a short pause from activity, it is the race day. Even though the sun has only just risen, you see countless flags, banners, and posters put up around the city. It seems like this really is a big event.
On the day of the races, Henry will make his own way to the races with Fizz on his shoulder. As he arrives anyone who pays attention to the shape on his shoulder. It looks like a cloud of steam but as Henry walks, it holds it form and doesn't drift away. Not until a voice comes from the steam form, would anyone realise its a creature.
When fizz sees the dinosaurs in the Pen,"Oi Gramps, these are the lizards we have to race on?"To this Henry responds, "Yes Fizz. But we will be greatly compensated for the effort."
Henry then walks over the Ytepka, and tries to befriend it as Fizz just fly's/floats over to the dinosaurs head where he inspects it.
Animal Handling: 11
Whilst Henry tries to befriend the Ytepka, Fizz gets bored pretty quickly, so he makes his way over to Scamper where he stands on her head. He peers down at her and calls out, "Where is the saddle for this one? I want to race this one! It looks small and quick!"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Jasuri walks over to little bob and tries to get him saddled up in the way he was shown. Every sudden movement from the large and powerful beast causes Jasuri to flinch slightly, but he continues his task fairly steadily before climbing onto the beast.
Gimdir makes his way to the dinosaur pens, unable to understand why his companions would climb onto their backs and race them through the city. The feeling of lost time causes Gimdir's temper to be on edge. Seeing his companions in the pens with the dinosaurs, Gimdir can't help himself and says, "Yer brains be addled," before going to find himself a good spot to watch the race.
(I won't be able to post as frequently next week, so you guys can take a break while I'm gone. I'll tell you when I get back and then we can get back to more frequent posting)
You are all able to successfully mount your lizards. Jobal leads you over to the start of the race, where a surprising number of mounted racers are lined up. The small lizard barks at Fizz. It does not seem to like the little smoke creature. Suddenly, a Horn blows a long, high-pitched note. the race has begun! Gimdir is able to find a nice shady spot on top of a building to watch the race. He is also able to see a transformed market stall with a sign reading "RACE BETTING" placed over it. He might be able to make some money off of this escapade if he wanted to.
Track:
I'll mark where you are for each new progression.
(This race will be played as a series of animal handling checks. In addition, an attack against another nearby rider can be made, but this adds disadvantage on your animal handling roll. I will be keeping track of how far you are along the track in numbers as well as marking it on the map. Also FYI, Henry's Animal Handling DC is 14, Scamper's is 12, and Jasuri's is 14.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Scamper is distracted by all the fanfare and the other dinosaurs and it takes her a moment longer than the others to notice that the race has started. Little Lightning knows what's going on though and nearly tosses Scamper off as it lunges forward at the start. Scamper hangs onto the reins for dear life and tries to maintain some semblance of control.

Henry will ride the Ytepka to the race start, Ready to race. Fizz is sitting on the dinosaurs head. As the races starts, Henry does his best to control best, as it starts forward, whilst Fizz just shouts out "WHHOOOOO HOOOOOOO!

"No more treats until after the race, Little Lightning. We don't want to upset your stomach and then you throw up and we lose do we? No."
She pats the lizard on the face and starts to put the bridle and saddle in place.
