Iarno looks to Fawn and says, "My dear, I truly cannot answer that question as I do not know where all you have been. There is a good chance that additional ruffians are about as not all of them are in the hideout at one time unless we call a meeting which rarely happens. I too dread facing my former colleague but as a former member of the Lord's Alliance I know that Sildar will give me a fair trial. "
As Iarno answers this Fawn thinks about the size of the Manor she viewed from the outside compared to what has been explored so far. She comes to the conclusion that there must be more rooms to the West of her as she does not feel what she has seen so far is everything.
DM Notes: You are absolutely free to leave right now if you wish as it appears you have achieved what Sildar set you out to do but I just wanted to point out that there is more to the building if you choose to explore because Fawn's icon on the map kinda blocks the door. Or you can always leave and come back later on when you're rested if you want to explore more. Completely up to you.
Fawn opens the door to a room that appears to be Glasstaff's workshop. A rat scurries across the floor and takes refuge under a large worktable set up with alembics, retorts, distillation coils, and other alchemical devices, all of it stewing and bubbling away. Bookshelves are crowded with sheaves of parchment and strange-looking tomes. Another door is at C,-22.
Halben picks up the Staff of Defense and stores it on his back as the staff cannot fit anywhere else.
Glasstaff waits anxiously to see if he will continue to be dragged away or not.
“How can we trust you? Is there any value if we keep you alive? I honestly want to just remove Gilga from the picture but how do I know that you won’t just turn on us after we kill her? If we can work something out I believe you could help Sildar and us to turn this place around for the better and people would see you as a hero instead of a villain” Conway says as he crouches beside Glasstaff.
Iarno holds his hands out wide and gives a small chuckle and winces in pain to Conway, "I'm not sure what else to do to make you trust me my good fellow. I have given you the key and my treasured staff. I can hardly walk. I guess the reason you can trust me is I value my life. If I try to somehow hobble away I am sure you can catch me and I have no desire to see Gilga."
Iarno frowns slightly but nods his head, "It is good of you to think that somehow I could be a hero. No, the Lord's Alliance does not work that way. Sildar will hand me over to the council for a trial to account my deeds. You will not likely see me again after that. As a former member I understand the importance of a trial and would appreciate to have justice done correctly."
Iarno then nods in the direction of GIlga, "If you attack that creature tie me up and leave me here or something of that nature. She is a tough monster which is why I chose to make a treaty with her rather than face her head on. If you wish, we can slip by without Gilga every noticing and go out the front door."
Halben begins to investigate the books. The books and notes scattered around the room are basic texts on alchemy. Being proficient in Arcana Halben is able to determine that Iarno's apparatus appears to be set up to brew Potion of Invisibility. Halben also finds a leather bound tomb written in dwarvish. Unfortunately, no one in the party speaks or can write dwarvish. Most of the ingredients in this workshop have no value, but there are three small bottles that hold rare reagents: mecury, dragon bile, and powdered nightshade which are worth 25gp to an apothecary or alchemist.
“Well I need you to show me this secret door. Gilga said she would pay us with something. I’m not entirely greedy but that is one way to maybe talk my companions into following me into this battle. Show me the door” Conway says in an almost nurturing way
"It's not a secret door but more of causing a distraction and passing by. We would go back the way you came, by the prison cells, past the fountain, and out the front door." Iarno says and holds out his hand.
The rat that you saw scurry in under the table suddenly appears in Iarno's hand with a poof.
"Meet my familiar, Ruth. She can be quiet distracting but cannot truly die as she is not of this plane."
Conway drags the body to the edge of the crevasse. Looks inside and yells “Gilga! We brought you your favorite!!! Catch!” And rolls the body off the edge.
Glasstaff is almost taken aback at the kindness shown to him. He nods to Conway and positions himself to make his move when the time is right. He sneaks his rat familiar into the cavern with Gilga so that he will be able to see when the time is right.
The rest of you make your way into the cavern. You see Gilga still gnawing on the head of the last Redbrand. Conway rolls the new body in and Gilga goes right to it you hear in your heads, "YES! AHAHA! MORE MEAT! KEEP IT COMING!"
OOC: Please let me know if you would like to have your character in a different position on the map to start this encounter. You will each get one surprise attack before combat starts.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Conway looks at the position and is happy with where he is standing. He pulls his hand behind his back and builds his power for an Eldritch Blast. He looked to his right and waits for the moment where everyone can attack at once then let’s loose in tandem.
"Well I think I am ready to head down and release the prisoners."
Iarno looks to Fawn and says, "My dear, I truly cannot answer that question as I do not know where all you have been. Fawn searches the door, it appears like any other standard door and does not appear locked or trapped.
Fawn goes into the door where the badger could smell the achemy tools
I would like to pick up the staff and add it to my inventory.

“Gilga is still in the hole. Go across and head out that way. We will take care of Gilga” Conway says.
He then goes to the most east room and grabs a Redbrand body and drags it back.
“I’m going to go to the far side and throw the body down. She will grab the body and that should be enough” Conway says.
Fawn follows Conway
“I’m not so sure about this, but I’m not used to beating one eyed monsters...” Cypress says as he reluctantly follows fawn and Conway.
"I am in the same boat as you Cypress, but we shall give it a shot." Halben says reluctantly as he follows the group.
