Strife, you'd have to spend more than a few weeks at sea playing Dragonchess and cooking biscuits to become proficient in those things. Proficiency is attained through at least a year of dedicated training and practice.
As you make your rounds you quickly learn that Cpt. Red Skies was speaking the truth when she said she runs a tight ship. Everything has a place and everything is in its place. The crew is experienced and sensible enough to take care when handling anything that might be a potential fire hazard. You make your twice-daily reports to the Cpt. and she thanks you for your hard work.
As the days go by, Vappa will be training his form in the early mornings and evenings. When not on crows nest duty( or, at least, when it's Kelp's turn to watch), he will be meditating. Trying his best to get in tune with the ship and all who walk it.
All, it's the night of the fourth day at sea and the sun has set below the horizon. The ocean is calm and the sky cloudless. A bright, mostly full moon is reflected in the shimmering water. It's time for light's out and most of the crew is already asleep.
Vappa, you relieved Kelp in the Crow's Nest about two hours ago and began your watch for the night. Before he left, Kelp passed you a spyglass and a whistle. "Keep eye out. Blow whistle if danger." he says before he descends the rope ladder. Go ahead and make a perception check to see what, if anything, Vappa sees.
Lady Susanne and Seldor, you two are making rounds above and below deck. Decide who's making rounds where and make perception checks to see if you find anything out of the ordinary during your round.
Agamemnon and Strife, you two are sleeping at the moment. Your watch is in two hours.
"No problem captain!" The kobold would say with a wide toothy smile "let me know if you need anything else captain. I have these navigators tools if you want them... I am not really using them..." Strife would say digging the tools out of his backpack.
Vappa, you can just barely make out a dark shape on the horizon in the direction you've been sailing from. It's impossible to tell what it is at this distance. You keep an eye on it for about an hour and notice it's actually getting closer. With your 16 you can now make out four shapes, one large and three smaller. It's still hard to tell, but you think they might be ships. As of right now, you can't make out their flags just yet. Seldor is patrolling the deck below you, but without a spyglass, he can't see the shapes himself.
Lady Susanne, you make your rounds through the ship keeping an eye out for anything out of the ordinary. You're inspecting the cannons when you hear a sound coming from the storage area. Pausing in your inspection, you look up and hold your breath, straining your ears to pick up on the sound again. You hear the snores and flatulence of the sleeping crew, the soft creaks of the ship as it plows through the relatively calm sea, and what sounds like hushed voices coming from the storage room.
Seldor, all appears secure on the deck. There is a small warm breeze that lifts your hair and caresses your cheek as you stare out into the endless waters. Depending on what Vappa and Lady Susanne decide to do, you may or may not perceive something shortly.
Lady Susanne will try to get closer to hear what the noises from the storage room, if she doesn't hear anything she will open the door and check it out cautiously and ready for action...
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Vappa wouldn't say he is efficient on sea voyage just yet, but after a few days of nothing out of the ordinary, four large shapes approaching at night did strike him as off. He slowly lowers the spyglass and narrows his eyes. It all feels like the swamp. Honing in on prey when they are most vulnerable. It's a basic tactic. One that warrants action. He looks down from his post. Seeing Seldor, Vappa will call out to him. "Possible predators....approaching. Alert crew."
Another perception check if he could see clearer: 4
Lady Susanne, as you approach the door you hear what sounds like wood being broken. The sound stops suddenly and you hear muffled voices, one cursing at another. You're outside the door now. What would you like to do?
Vappa, the ships appear to be making way as fast as they can in your direction. The masts bear no flags and the sails are painted black. You call out to the Half-Elf below, trying to get his attention.
Lady Susanne will open door to see what is happeneing, she is thinking stow away or saboteur at the moment...she will ready her weapons as she opens the door
Lady Susanne, you draw your weapon and with your other hand, you softly grasp the doorknob. With a sudden twist and shove, you fling the door open to reveal two men you've never seen before. One man is a dwarf in brown leather armor, he appeared to have been attempting to help the other man out of a crate when you flung the door open. The other man is a human also clad in brown leather armor. He stands up to his waist in a wooden crate with a look of surprise on his face. The dwarf curses and draws a curved sword from his hip "Shit! get 'er before she calls for help!" and charges at you. The man in the crate fumbles around inside the crate for a bit before drawing a crossbow and aiming it at you.
Lady Susanne, roll for initiative! Since they were preoccupied with trying to extricate themselves from the crate, you managed to surprise them.

Seldor, you hear a hissing sound coming from above you. You look up and see Vappa waving and calling out to you. "Possible predators... approaching. Alert crew."

Susanne has been spending her time organizing below and keeping the cannons cleaned (swabbed out of residue) and polished in case they are needed.
She once in a while will stroll topside checking for trouble...

Lady Susanne Initiative 6
Lady Susanne, since you've surprised them you get a turn to act before the initiative order starts. The initiative order for the moment is:
Stowaway 2 (13)
Lady Susanne (9)
Stowaway 1 (4)
OOC: Make sure you yell really loud :D
