"Do you think we could rest here for a while and then head off towards the volcano in the morning?" Strife would ask Feng as he begins making more shapes and colors in the campfire.
Feng, walking out of the hut will look toward Strife as he asks the question. Feng will then look around and shrug. "We no mind. No beds, just ground." He then skips over to the hammock and hops in, swinging slightly as he looks at the group. "Find place sleep. We sleep here."
You all spend the night at Feng's hut. The night is uncomfortable; strange sounds fill the jungle around you. Nocturnal creatures going about their nightly business. After the sun set the insects came out in swarms. When morning comes, you feel barely rested. After a breakfast of dried meats and mushroom broth, you gather your gear and set forth in the general direction of the volcano.
The wall of vegetation gives way to a small clearing. Light filters through the canopy of treetops illuminating a tall statue in the center of the clearing. It's covered with vines and is carved to resemble three ape-like creatures sitting on each others shoulders. The bottom creature is covering its mouth with its hands, the second covers its ears, and the third covers its eyes. Atop the third creature's head sits a bowl. The bowl appears to be overflowing with gold coins and various other precious metals, glinting brightly in the sunlight.
Feng, seeing the bowl, will have his eyes widen. "We like bowl! Better, bowl with shiny pieces" He will shout as he jumps slightly. He takes a step then pauses. Feng would like to take a quick look around the clearing to see if he notices anything out of the ordinary. Any strange smells or shapes.
Strife would emerge from the small dirt burrow he sculpted for himself before eating breakfast and heading with the group towards the volcano. Upon seeing the large statue with the bowl of gold on top, the kobold would hold up his hands to protect his eyes from the glinting gold. Even with his dark goggle on, he could tell the scene in front of him was incredibly bright. "Well... that is something you don't see every day... there is quite the dragon horde up there... I wonder how we can get it!" Strife would say as a small drop of drool drips from his mouth as he imagines what he could do with that amount of gold.
Feng, between the twisting vines that cover the statue, you see glyphs carved into the stone. You aren't sure as to their meaning or significance. Other than that you don't notice anything else out of the ordinary or noteworthy in the area. Judging from the thickness of the vines, you're reasonably sure someone could use them to climb the statue.
Feng, if you'd like to attempt to climb the statue, make a Strength (Athletics) check. It's roughly 30ft tall and you need three successes to climb to the bowl. 10+ you climb 10ft, 9-5 you gain no ground and stay where you are, 4-1 you fall to the ground, taking 1d6 points of damage per 10ft you've fallen.
"Let me try something really quick..." Strife would say as he walks within 30 feet of the bowl of gold. Drawing his orb and dagger, the kobold would cast gust in the hole of either knocking the bowl off the top of the statue or blowing some of the treasure (5 pounds?) out of the bowl and down the the waiting kobold.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Strife, your orb flashes brightly as you cast your spell. At the same time, the glyphs on the statue suddenly light up and emit a deep green light. Three bolts of dark green energy lance forth from the statue and streak toward the party.
Seldor - 1-3 Strife - 4-6 Lady Susanne 7-9 Feng 10-12 Captain Red Skies 12-15
Two of the bolts slam into Lady Susanne, lifting her into the air briefly before dropping her to the ground, smoking. The third bolt slams into Cpt. Red Skies, blasting her backwards into a large fern. When all is said and done, Lady Susanne is rendered mute and deaf and Cpt. Red Skies is blind. You aren't sure if it's permanent or if the effects will fade with time.
Strife, you did manage to blow a bit of the treasure off the top of the bowl with your spell. Roughly 12gp worth lays scattered on the jungle floor around the statue.
Feng falls back as the bolts streak off. "Dhon!" Feng shouts in Goblin. He gets up and chuckles. "No magic." He says smiling. "We climb now?" He asks as he looks towards the group.

"I knew this was too good to be true! Of course the gold would be trapped. Wait. We have to see if what happened to Susanne and the Captain are permanent." Greedy idiots, thinking that there would be gold just left out for them.

Feng is going to look around and slowly approach the statue. "We climb, we good at climbing." He's going to slowly approach incase someone intervenes.

Seldor,
this manner of magic is rather foreign to you. You aren't wholly confident, but something tells you it's possibly temporary. Only time will tell.
(Seldor has Identify as a Ritual Spell. Could he use that to get a better idea of what it is?)

Seldor, if you cast identify on either of the two that were affected, it will grant you further insight into the nature of the affliction.
