OOC: Just waiting for Epos's initiative and location. In the meantime, does anyone know why the link location of images uploaded on Google Photos does not end with a .jpg or .png, unlike with the now defunct Google+? It's that irritating little detail that's delaying my posting of the maps.
Thank the Gods that spell woke me up. Xel sees the hooded figures and their very actions do not seem to show that this is a friendly visit.
Xel stands up and takes the Disengage action and with his remaining movement moves to H7.
I believe that the time for diplomacy has passed my friends. Epos, I would think you may wish to teach them a lesson or two about lurking in the shadows and bothering people.
Xel still has a spell or two for this but he hopes that these are the only two intruders. He hopes his well-rested friends can dispatch these rogues quickly.
OOC: Guys, I am low on hit points (4) and have one (1) spell left (excluding my Cantrips). My Mage Armor has also worn off so I am particularly squishy.
Though the robes of the two men are nondescript, Khial recognizes the cut and hem of the robes -- it is a particular kind used by members of his guild. These are his old guild members, likely seeking revenge for his killing of the guildmaster.
Khial unsheathes his dagger and rapier and equips them in both hands.
He mutters to himself, "It seems that though I have cut the head of the snake, worms sprout out. Time to open up old wounds then."
He lunges at the robed figure at G10, swinging his rapier towards the face of his opponent. Rapier: 20
Simultaneously, he thrusts his dagger towards the same robed figure's torso (As a bonus action for two-handed weapon). Dagger: 20
He thinks to himself, "I defeated the guildmaster in a duel once.....that was before I decided to slit his throat in his sleep. This should be an easy fight."

OOC: Khial, where are your damage rolls? Include them after the attack roll even if you don't know whether the attack will hit or not; if it's a miss, then I won't apply the damage.
OOC: For now, I will roll the damage for you, but please include these next time.
Khial thrusts the rapier into the robed figure's face, actually gouging out a chunk of his cheek. The tip of the rapier catches the robe's hood as Khial withdraws his blade, throwing it back and exposing the face of a rough-looking male human (similar to Khial).

"That's the one we want," says the robed figure not yet in melee. He moves beside his comrade (to H10) and initiates a grapple against Khial: Athletics check: 18.
The robed figure wounded by Khial snarls in rage and pain.
"The guild traitor tried to gut me," he says. "I'm not leaving here until I draw blood to pay back what they took from me!"
Moving into the space vacated by Xel, he draws a mace and swings at both Khial and Epos. The presence of his companion seems to bolster him, as he attacks with sneering confidence: Khial - 23, damage 5, extra damage from critical 1. Epos - 19, damage 5.
OOC: Sigh, I got that message after I added the critical damage against Khial. Anyway, Khial takes 8 damage and Epos takes none. Khial, make an Athletics or Acrobatics check (your choice) to escape the grapple attempt; you need to beat a 12.
Mithrokk has kept still for hours, pretending unconsciousness from the beating given to him by the Redbrands. The boat has kept moving during that time, though at last Mithrokk noticed a change. The men began whispering to each other, saying that their target was in sight. He noticed that the sound of the paddling had changed, had become softer -- then realized that the men must be leaning on the side of the boat, paddling with their hands to prevent the sound of a paddle inadvertently striking the hull. He risked opening his eyes: he saw his axe, upright, wedged between his pack and a barrel. If he could get his back against the blade, he thinks, he can slice the rope and be free! But his captors will notice and stop him before he ever gets the chance ...
Two soft plopping sounds almost made him move his head, but the discipline of his dwarven training wins out. He keeps still, noticing there is now only one pair of feet on the boat. He sees a hand reach down to lift a crossbow from the deck.
He must move now, he realizes. If the robed figures succeed in capturing their prey and return to the boat, his chances of escape slip away. He raises his head. He can see a solitary robed figure, leaning precariously on the prow of the boat, aiming a crossbow. Mithrokk's arms are tied, but his legs are free. He prepares to deliver a kick with both legs, when shouts erupt from the shore, followed by the sounds of battle. The robed figure on the prow curses and raises his crossbow.
Clanggedin has delivered this chance to him, thinks Mithrokk. It's time to take it!
He delivers a vicious kick that sends the robed figure into the water!
He gets up, placing his back against the axe, letting the blade cut both rope and skin. He sees that the boat is just five or ten feet from the shore, where a battle seems to be going on.
OOC: Okay, we've got a new character coming in -- everyone give a warm Dwarven hello to Mithrokk!
Mithrokk roll initiative; I'll place you and the robed figure you sent into the drink in the map for next round. After your surprise attack, you'll spend this round freeing yourself from the rope. By next round, you'll be free but will be unarmed and unarmored (though your equipment is nearby). You're at full hit points, since you used the time pretending to be unconscious to take a short rest and gather your strength.

Epos moves to the space vacated by Xel. He sees no choice at this point but to defend himself and his band. Wordlessly, he launches into an attack. OOC: Epos faces the attacker at G10.
The monk strikes, his staff arcing towards his opponent at waist-level. OOC: Attack: 16 Damage: 9. He follows up with a punch to the face. OOC: Attack: 9 Damage: 5

Khial is in G9. He struggles to stand up despite his groggy condition.
Initiative roll: 13

OOC: Epos on G8, Initiative 9
"The bells!" Epos exclaims....
OOC: Okay, please confirm if you can see the map in this post. I'm trying to host images on Imgur now.
OOC: If you can see the map, then the order of initiative is Xel, Khial, robed figures, Epos.
Seeing their attempt at surprise spoiled, the two robed men reach their hands into their robes, as if preparing to draw weapons.
The one adjacent to Khial and Xel says, "Two birds with a stone, which one do I swing at?"
The other replies: "Cloudy skies -- caged birds won't like the weather. Too bad we cut down the trees."
OOC: The message below is for Khial's eyes only. If you peek at it, I will expect that your characters will NOT know any of this information.
Thieves Cant: "Two of them might be the mark. Which do I go for first?"
"Take down the two humans and we'll bring them back with us. Kill the elf."
OOC: Have their weapons been drawn?
OOC: What weapons? You don't know what they're doing this turn, because it's not yet their turn. Your move, Xel!

OOC: Khial, you're up!
OOC: For Khial -
Though the robes of the two men are nondescript, Khial recognizes the cut and hem of the robes -- it is a particular kind used by members of his guild. These are his old guild members, likely seeking revenge for his killing of the guildmaster.
Khial unsheathes his dagger and rapier and equips them in both hands.

Rapier damage: 4 + 3 sneak attack damage = 13 total.
The man instinctively raises a hand to cover the new hole in his face, allowing Khial to plunge his dagger into the man's belly.
Dagger damage (critical): 3.
"That's the one we want," says the robed figure not yet in melee. He moves beside his comrade (to H10) and initiates a grapple against Khial: Athletics check: 18.
The robed figure wounded by Khial snarls in rage and pain.

A crossbow bolt hits the tree next to Khial and Epos with a thunk.

Epos, you're up!
OOC: Huzzah!!! Hey Nonny Nonny!!!
OOC: With Mithrok at our side, there shall be no Valergos today.
