OOC: Khial, one failed death save.
The last robed figure sees and hears what Epos does to his comrade.
"You killed Garn," he shouts. He drops his crossbow, pulls out a mace, and attacks Epos twice (disadvantage because of darkness): 13, 7 damage. 15, 3 damage.
Without his ally around to bolster him, he struggles to strike the nimble elf. Epos dodges both blows.

Epos faces his attacker intently with an unsettling calmness. Wordlessly he twirls his staff, building momentum for a decisive strike against his opponent. Attack: 9 Damage: 9. He follows up with quick punch. Attack: 17 Damage: 7
Driven by anger and a strong desire to get even with his former captor, Mithrokk continues his onslaught and viciously brings the huge axe down on his foe.
Epos notices the dwarf, and gives him a curt nod through the darkness. "That must be the Dwarven Great Axe Style! I have only seen it used once! When Old Master Aukri was felling the great trees around the monastery. Master Mekayan didn't like that!! Ok so maybe I saw that style used twice... Master Aukri was half the man he used to be his encounter with the Mad priest Mekayan... About 3 feet shorter, that is. Master Aukri never lifted his great axe again." Epos rapidly exclaimed to dwarf in under 1 second...
Stunned by Epos's blow (or perhaps by his witty repartee), the robed figure walks backwards into the arc of Mithrokk's swing. Through the handle of his weapon, the dwarf feels the blade slice through skin ... and bone. The human's spine has been severed, Mithrokk surmises in a very undwarflike analytical fashion -- a hypothesis confirmed when the robed figure falls dead.
OOC: Combat is over. Tell me what you guys are doing next (introductions, looting, etc.). Be sure to tell me how you distribute the items you've found so far, then place them in your character sheet. Lastly, each character earns 75 xp for this battle. I believe that will allow some of you to level up your characters, so be sure to reflect the new level in the character sheet. If you plan to multiclass, submit a backstory or rationale to me for approval.
Mithrokk calms himself now that the fighting has stopped. He is glad that the ordeal is over and he that has exacted some amount of revenge over his captors. Feeling the red anger leave him, he is suddenly aware of the three figures around him - a robed human tending to another wounded human and an elf who seems to have been fighting his captors as well. “Perhaps they are friends,” he thinks to himself.
Mithrokk decides to find out. Turning to the robed human who seems to him to be some kind of medicine man as he applies some healing techniques, he attempts to communicate. “Hrunar,” he says in a kind of low deep baritone bass while heavily beating his chest with his left hand. “Mithrokk dwarkar ews remarn.”
Two red bushy eyebrows furrow deeply as he tries to get the words out. He stammers and repeats, “Hrunar, Mithrokk dwarkar ews remarn. MER.” The chest thumping more rapid now as if more desperate.
He then realizes why he’s been having such a difficult time - he’s been speaking dwarvish to a human. He now wishes he had practiced speaking in Common more.
After a few moments of head scratching and some quick scans of the heavens, his eyes widen suddenly. Turning back to the medicine man, in an attempt to speak in the common tongue, he blurts out the following, “Ay ay ay yam Mithrokk. FRIEND. Mithrokk stop kurn, stop enemy. Who you?”
OCC: Are you using a translator from the internet? If so let me know.
Xel hears the dwarf trying to talk to them. Xel checks Khial's breathing and if the wounds have been properly bound then he stands up.
In Dwarvish he speaks to the dwarf: Hail and well met. Strength to your arm and hammer. May your forge ever burn and your ale never grow stale. It would seem that we are in your debt since you apparently helped to dispatch these hi-way men. I see you are drenched. We have a fire nearby where you can warm yourself and dry off. But first we best make sure there are no others like these men nearby. Would you know if there are more lurking about?
Then turning to Epos he speaks in Common: Be on guard. We don't know if there may be more nearby. I'll ask our new friend if he can help us move Khial to the camp site. We should check the bodies for anything valuable and any indication as to who these people are?
OOC: There's an online Dwarven translator?? Please let me know where to find it. :-) Am just using the lexicon from Dragon #278 plus some source in reddit for ideas on syntax.
MIthrokk responds to the human in Dwarfish: "Hail and well met, friend healer. Moradin's fire burns strongly within me. May your god's fire burn forever for you as well. I see you speak my folk's tongue; many thanks for making this easier for me. Am afraid I have not practiced speaking the common tongue for many a year."
"You need not thank me - I was quite pleased to be able to repay these villains' hospitality to me in kind and perhaps twice over. I fought four of them a day or two ago but was overcome and bound. When I awoke, I found myself on a boat with these three cretins and waited for Clanggedin to provide me the opportunity to give them his blessing. Glory to the Silverbeard!"
"Thank you for inviting me to share in your fire. Let me gather my things and join you. I shall be glad to warm my ale in its flames so I can drive the cold from my bones."
OOC: Mithrokk moves to gather the rest of his belongings from the boat.

Xel speaks to Mithrokk in Dwarvish: Then it is serendipitous indeed that our paths should meet. When you get your things, best to secure the boat, we may have use of it later. And if you would be so kind to help my friend, Epos, bring our comrade back to the fire.
Xel then proceeds to loot the body of the two fallen figures of whatever may be of value or useful.
OOC: Cool interaction. Both Mithrokk and Xel gain an Inspiration Point. Light up the Inspiration icon on your character sheets. Xel successfully stabilizes Khial.
Xel is able to bind up Khial's wounds, and it looks like the rogue will probably recover. He finds three heavy crossbows and three maces from the bodies of the THREE robed figures. There is a sack with 50 gold pieces on the boat, as well as the boat itself. It is a 10 by 20 feet rowboat, though it's wide, flat bottom design suggests it would only be suitable for lake or river travel; it would likely capsize if used on the ocean.
OOC: Place the split treasure on your character sheets. As far as I can determine, not everyone who can has levelled up yet.
OOC: Mithrokk does as Xel suggests: 1) secures boat as he gathers his things and 2) helps Epos carry Khial to the campsite to be laid out near the fire. He then warms his ale and sits by the fire himself.

Epos, you're up!
OOC: Mithrokk, if you want to declare actions and make rolls, you can do so. I'll just insert your action sequence after Epos.

OOC: Is the robed figure in N15 still up after Epos' double strike? (@Epos - good rolls there! :-))
Staff and fist strike the robed figure, but he still stands ...
OOC: Mithrokk, you're up!
Driven by anger and a strong desire to get even with his former captor, Mithrokk continues his onslaught and viciously brings the huge axe down on his foe.
OOC: Attack with great axe on robed figure in N15
Attack: 12
Damage: 8

OOC: Sounds great. I'll go over the posts and send the loot divisions if everyone agrees. And yes, Xel is able to level up to 2.
OOC: On hit points, do we just take the average or can we roll and if its lower than the average, then take the average as we have done previously.
OOC: Prior to Mithrokk joining, the division of the treasure is as follows:
Each Member (Khial, Epos, Xel): 6 Silver, 166 Gold, and 3 Potion Vials Each
We don't have any smaller currency to divide the remaining treasure so we can temporarily place the same in Party Common Funds: 2 Silver and 2 Gold.
We still haven't stabilised Khial so we may have to use one of the Healing Potion Vials.
Xel casts Dancing Lights in front of him in order to see where Khial has fallen.
Noticing that the sounds of battle have stopped and the prone bodies of the two robed figures, he moves to Khial and attempts to stabilise him.
While it may be quicker to use the potion, this is a limited resource that we cannot expend needlessly.
