Jorin seems quite confused by Quillary's question. He repeats the last part back quietly, "So that the range may continue...No, I do not think the tunnels weaken the mountain itself. It is of stone and earth, it endures."
Black Bart and Fanny (the Fair) watch the conversation, a bit confused. Bart opens his mouth to talk, but a fierce stare by Quillary makes him pause, close his mouth, and shrink into his coat.
Fanny gives a small shrug, which causes the wagon to rock, considering the tight quarters and her prodigious size. "You folk don't look like regular army. Or even irregular army. How did a bunch of civilians get a ride on a military transport?"

(OOC: Thanks for the clarification. I was misinterpreting it. But it only requires a little ret-con.
Bart is a little too clean, a little too dainty, and he's got a smug face that seems like it should be slapped. Quillary doesn't see a warrior, but a frolicking elf who only talks a good game. She also picked up that Fanny is a bit annoyed at Bart (Insight proficiency), even before the reason was given. At the evening of the 2nd day of travel (which I believe is Nightal 9), the wagon pulls into Amphail. The wagon was driven as fast as could be sustained, so everyone is a little queasy from motion sickness and muscle aches. Drusk survived the first day riding with Stinky Peat, but absolutely refused to be in the front on the second day. Although drawing lots randomly was an option, it was easier to vote that Black Bart ride in front on the second day. (That was his fault for getting Fanny mad at him, and failing to get on Quillary's good side.) There was a fair amount of traffic on the Long Road, but the other travelers give your wagon some space. (Probably a combination of military transport going at high speed, and not wanting to be downwind from Peat.)
The village of Amphail (link for background info) has under a thousand occupants. It was named for Amphal the Just, one of the early Waterdeep warlords. It is known for farming (food for Waterdeep) and horses. Normally, you would notice the horse smell and complain about it, but your olfactory sense hasn't recovered from the recent ride.
Bart and Fanny report to the lieutenant in Amphail. He greets you next, reading your orders. You get to rest in the local inn tonight, and in the morning will be loaned hoses (Amphail Grays) for the ride east. The inn is disappointing after staying in places like the Yawning Portal, but you are grateful for a soft bed before more horse-riding tomorrow.
(OOC: Anything you want to do while in Amphail, before the journey east?)
