The weed seems to have opened Hildigrim's senses wide!
Hildigrim bows to the woman. "Please pardon our intrusion at this hour. I am Hildigrim Goodbody of Waterdeep. We are struggling with a bit of a time-sensitive quest. Ghosts and zombies are running amok, and we're hoping you might help shed some light on the situation."
Hildigrim notices that some of the plants around the shop are decorative, and some are for medicinal use. But most of these plants are folk remedies and not truly effective for healing. (They may have other uses, perhaps as mind-altering substances?) The is a curtain across the opening leading the glass structure next to this shop. From the warm air and humidity streaming around the curtain, probably a greenhouse... Hildigrim also sees what Pascal saw (spoiler in post 2423).
"I'm Bitter-Blossom. Nice to meet you, Mister Hildigrim, sir. That sounds pretty strange, yeah. Ghosts and zombies? It’s a big weird world out there."

Pascal, wide eyed from whatever he saw, slowly turns back to the group. He gives a little whimper, “Oh... yay... more things.”
"Nah, you didn't have the door open long enough for any spirits to come in my shop. But they are out there. I hear them at night. They scratch at the walls and sometimes even wander the streets. I don’t go out at night, though, especially when they’re out there. That’s a bad idea. I used to have a shambler out back on a chain, but it got away I think. Or someone let it loose. I don’t know, but it’s gone now and that’s okay.
"I think that until Kelemvor comes for us, we are just splinters of a single spirit. One creature with many faces, am I right? I’m right. You know it, thank you." With a pleased smile, she finally stops talking, in order to breathe in.

Hildigrim's head swivels back and forth, and then he actually turns in a complete circle on the spot. "I could've ..." Then, catching on to what the woman is saying, the halfling raises his eyebrows. "I think I just felt and heard one myself, madam. May we come in where it might be ... less distracting?"
BB lets your group in, but also looks puzzled. "You said I might help shed some light on a situation, but none of you have said anything useful yet."

"We were at the Stag-Horned Flagon this evening when the bard Rooster and several patrons were overcome by spirits. Not only that, but a zombie in the shape of the Amphail statue attacked. After we vanquished the zombie and knocked out the possessed — and so caused their spirits to flee — we spoke with the bard Rooster who said he met with three individuals today before feeling strange. You are one of those individuals. What business did you have with the bard?"
"Amphail was such a sweetheart. A gentle soul, for a warlord, y'know? Whoever made him a zombie like him should be ashamed. He deserves better than that.
"Rooster Cinderelm came here earlier, yes. Wanted some spiritroot. Something to slip loose this mortal coil for a little while... drift among the spirits. I didn’t have any, though. I don’t deal with that kind of product. He made an off-hand comment about how fun it would be if Amphail were a ghost town. If he meant it as a joke, I didn’t understand it. People are weird. That’s why I like plants."

BB looks at the mark on Jorin's arm with googly-eyes. "Ooooooh yes, I’ve seen that. The bard came in with the same thing. I think it comes from careless contact with spiritroot, because it kind of looks like the coiled roots of the plant, I think. Where did you get it?
"Spiritroot is amazing, friends! It’s not cheap and only grows in some pretty terrible places like graveyards and under witch cauldrons and inside the skulls of dead dragons. It’s pretty awesome, really. Tastes a bit like dwarf stone and slimy acid, but... wow. It lets you talk to your dead friends. And sometimes enemies. But usually friends, yeah, let’s go with that. Totally worth the cost if you can find it. I’ve only been carrying it a couple days.
"Rooster didn't leave empty-handed, and neither should you, friend customer! Just look around. Flora from all over the Sword Coast, to Moonsea and beyond - herbs and flowers and roots and medicinals like you’ve never seen before. If you want a colorful lily for your lapel, I’ve got you – or if you want a little nibble of spiritroot so you can see your granny one more time, I can do that, too. Rooster bought the last of it earlier, so I’m clean out right now."

Hildigrim opens his mouth a couple times, then finally stumbles into ... "You have perplexed me, madam. You say you didn't have any spiritroot for Rooster because you don't sell it, but then you also said you sold some to him." He glances around at the others with a confused look.

"No, no, spiritroot is contraband in Amphail. I would never do that, ever... Okay, maybe I thought of getting some a long while ago, sold a little, but not anymore... Sure, yeah, maaaaaaaybe I used to have some spiritroot. Possibly. I remember trying some, once. I think – no, I’m pretty sure – that I got it from Marigold. She’s pretty sketchy.
"She came to me, was pretty pushy about spiritroot. Brought me some, said she’d teach me how to grow it if I only tried this little bit. So I did. It was pretty amazing. Tasted bad, but powerful for sure.
"I saw Bitter-Root and we talked for a little bit." (serious, melancholy) "I know now that it wasn’t really her, at least I hope it wasn’t, because she talked about demons and possession and it was pretty scary.
(back to dazed and confused) "... anyways, don’t listen to Marigold’s lies. She’s creepy and hiding something, I know it. Stay clear if you want to live."
(With Hildigrim and Quillary having high passive Insight, you feel like BB isn't trying to deceive you. In her current state, she isn't exactly sure what the truth is, and sometimes just says what she wants to believe.)
