Jorin has a silver tongue or is quite handsome or is perhaps very scary, but either +4 baby!
Persuasion: 21
(But what are you saying / asking / suggesting?
Mingofaust and DirtyDogP can make short suggestions, like other players sitting around a table, but Jorin has to say it.)

"Yes. But in a different place than the murders, if that was on your mind."
(There is one bit of information that you don't already have, but he is not going to realize he has it unless you prompt him with the right question, or find a way to persuade him to concentrate on something besides the wine he is enjoying.
The party made a list of things you wanted to know. So far, you've only asked about seeing the murder site or talking to other servants from five years ago.)

After Quillary and Hildigrim ask their questions, Jorin decides to take action. Perhaps closer to intimidation, but Jorin has always found being scary to be persuasive.
Jorin grabs the nearest unopened wine bottle, pushes the cork into the bottle with his pinky finger (an impressive display of strength), and fills the 4 glasses of the party to overflowing, wasting some of the wine. "Since we don't know how long it will take to get our answers, might as well have a little drink while we are waiting."
Arnulf goes pale at the wonderful wine being spilled over the table, and racks his brain. "Lord Viallis sold the manor and all his family’s possessions, then moved to a small village in the countryside. I don't know which village. A few tanneries, leatherworkers’ shops, and cobblers’ shops in the Trades Ward still belong to Lord Viallis, but as far as I know, he has never returned to Waterdeep... Quite understandable. Probably guilt at not protecting his family, since the official reports were that he was away that night. And probably traumatize when he saw what happened. Rumor holds that Lady Maria, her three children, and four servants were all stabbed to death, then had their tongues removed. Horrible, horrible... that rumor should never been spread around..."
(Jorin slurps wine loudly.) Arnulf sweats a little heavier: "Ah, Lord Viallis does have an overseer who comes once every second tenday to check the books of each enterprise, pay wages, and collect profits. The overseer, an elf named Faerl, lives in the village of Greenfast southeast of Waterdeep, and is expected in the city in two days.
"Really, that is all I know. Perhaps you should leave, and take care of these ghostly matters you are concerned with. If the Falgarst family has any spiritual problems, we will be sure to contact you."

ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he). Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. I love it so.
After leaving the manor, Hildigrim recognizes a company that he knows does business with the villages around Waterdeep. He is able to get the information after talking with some office workers.
The village of Greenfast is located a day’s travel southeast of Waterdeep. You obtain directions to the small farming settlement, which lies a short distance off the Trade Way, along a broad creek flowing into the Dessarin River. Greenfast is a prosperous community whose farmers take advantage of their proximity to the Trade Way to sell to both Waterdeep and Daggerford.
Drusk to everyone else: "What is the next step? We can wait in Waterdeep for this Faerl to arrive in two days. We can leave for Greenfast right now, and hopefully catch Faerl in Greenfast before he leaves for Waterdeep. Or we can wait a day, to get to Greenfast when Faerl is in Waterdeep. Sometimes you all like to search other people's houses when they aren't around. (I'm not judging.) We can also look for this Vecken dude, the one who used to spend time with Sarah.
Whadya think?"

Jorin sits down and begins counting on his fingers. He makes a few faces, then removes his boots in order to add his toes to available computational resources.
"If he is due here in two days, and it takes us one day to travel to Greenfast, will we miss him, or catch him? If catch him, then I say we take a little trip. A walk in open spaces would do me well."
(If Hildigrim agrees, seems like the party will head back to the Road's End to gather equipment, and then hurry to Greenfast to meet Faerl before he leaves for Waterdeep.
The party will have to travel quickly to get to the village by nightfall. A CON save DC 10 to avoid a level of exhaustion. If you want to get there even faster to have an hour of sunlight, the save will be DC 14.
Even if you get exhaustion, it will go away after a night's rest. The question is how it will affect your meeting with Faerl. Also, strange heavily armed people showing up after dark will be more suspicious.)

Vecken," he says, nodding to Drusk, "and also the businesses Faerl will be visiting. It is likely — and hopeful — that the information Faerl provides will lead us to the doorstep of Lord Viallis. If so, we will not want to return. Getting information from all available sources now may corroborate what each party says or point out any discrepancies. Perhaps we should take these two days to make sure we have exhausted all avenues of information in Waterdeep before questioning Faerl. We then can fly with all of the information we can take with us. At least, that is my opinion. However, if the rest of you feel differently, I am not obdurate."
Although Drusk nods at Hildigrim's words of wisdom, he gets caught up with Quillary and Jorin's enthusiasm, and votes to hurry to Greenfast. (After notifying Pascal of course, and making sure Fanny will keep the Road's End secure and operating normally.)
