Drusk casts Bless on Feldspar, Jorin, and Quillary. (This does not help with the initial save for Confusion, but will for attacks and end-of-turn saves after that.)
Feldspar, and Jorin are up. (They still have to roll saves against Confusion.)

Jorin is up. Then the ulitharid. (It is a shame that Quillary missed, and Feldspar snapped out of the Confusion after the turn was over, but it does add more tension to the situation.)
(If he makes the DC 16 WIS save, then Jorin also gets an AoO when the ulitharid backed away. Jorin is now blessed, but the d4 does not apply to the initial Confusion WIS save. If he fails, then he has to roll a d10 for his current turn and consult the Confusion table. A 9 or 10 will still let him move forward (taking 2d4 spike damage) and attack the creature. A 7 or 8 means attacking Drusk!)
He no longer has Rage, due to the Suggestion turn where he was not fighting or taking damage. There was a question if he could hack away at the ground in order to keep Rage going. I don't have it handy, but I remember reading where the game designers said it has to be actual combat or damage taken. Stomping his foot or hacking at a bush would not be the same thing. Kind of like in sports where the intensity during practice isn't quite the same as a game situation.)

Jorin definitely does not make the save with an 8 in the game log and a 7 on the results d10 means he attacks the nearest creature within reach, which is happily, no one, due to our exquisite spacing, lol. Instead he just stares, slack jawed, at the pokey vines entangling his feet.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(I made a mistake in the last post. The ulitharid is earlier in the init order, so the cloaker is what is acting after Jorin.)
Jorin is dazed by the Confusion spell. He forgets that Drusk is right next to him. Sensing the presence of another being within melee range, Jorin snarls out, "die you tentacled monster", and makes two hacks at Drusk (with Bless). (Used the Game Log die roller.)
1st attack 28 hits for 9 slashing
2nd attack 26 hits for 12 slashing
Concentration for Blessing (both DC 10): 20 , 15 Bless still active
Is Jorin still confused? WIS save (with bless) vs. DC 16: 14 Yes, still confused
Drusk takes 21 damage from Jorin, reducing him to 10 hp.
The ulitharid beckons for the cloaker to carry it further north. The cloaker flies north, picks up the ulitharid, and carries it another 10' north.
The cloaker is now providing cover for the ulitharid. It has +2 AC.
The cloaker takes 2 spike damage when it landed at the end of its turn. (It did the moving, so the ulitharid does not take damage.)
Both Quillary and Feldspar can make an AoO against the cloaker, if they want to use their reactions. They are still Blessed.
New round. Hildigrim is up, then the ulitharid.

(Quillary does not have her club out, she’s been doing a lot of casting and holding a shield. It seems rude to assume she could take it out and hit with it as a reaction, (and without Shillelagh, it hits poorly and does minimal damage, she might as well punch it… oh!)
Quillary punches at the cloaker as it leaves. 12 to hit for 1 point of bludgeoning damage.

ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he). Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. I love it so.
"Jorin, no!" Hildigrim yells as he watches one friend attack another. "That's Drusk!" The halfling cranes his neck, but can no longer see either of the creatures. He looks down at the ground. "Hainard's hairy toes!" He then jumps five feet "east", taking 2 damage from Quillary's spikes as he lands. He draws back another arrow and, after waiting until Volo has provided a little distraction, fires. As his arrow sails through the air, he quickly relays something helpful to his nearest teammate, Feldspar.
(Short version: you still have to take out the cloaker, but with the ulitharid dead, the end of combat is in sight. Longer version...)
Hildigrim noticed that the ulitharid already regained its energy to do another mind blast, so why was it waiting? With horror, he observes the creature moving back. From its previous position, it could only get 1 or 2 of the group, which would have left it vulnerable to the others. But by gaining more distance, a 60' cone would hit everyone in the party! The illithid is heavily wounded, but the others can't get a clean shot. Quillary was thrown off by the cloaker attacking her, Feldspar needed a moment to shake off the Confusion, and Jorin was lashing out wildly.
Seeing the ulitharid getting ready to blast everyone, he steps out to get a better angle, getting several spike gashes in the process. Volo harasses the cloaker, and the manta-creature folds over to try to swat the owl. Seeing an opening in the cover, Hildigrim launches an arrow past the side of the cloaker, striking the ulitharid above one of its eyes. The psychic energy it was building up sparks out, and the creature falls over. (If there was any doubt about its death, the body is impaled on several large spikes on the ground.)
Volo flies away as the cloaker ripples in anger at the death of its master. (Jorin's vision clears as the Confusion spell fades away.)
Quillary, Feldspar, and Jorin are up. In post 6237, the green circle is the region with Spike Growth.

Feldspar growls as the creature’s mental powers once again recede from her mind. She growls again when Hildigrim drops it.
Holding up one hand she fires off an eldritch blast at the cloaker, and growling even louder she twins the spell to hit the ulitharid as well (burning a sorcery point). She does not like more things in her mind than are already in it!
Finally Abel to do what she really wants to do, Quillary snatches her club out of her belt, taps it to the cat skull above her forehead, it does the now expected flash burn, with the ash falling off to reveal a shiny and hard wooden surface. At the same time she charges the croaker and lets out a guttural cry, swinging at the thing.
BA: Cast Shillelagh Move: Close with the cloaker Action: Attack cloaked with currently-magic club, in game log.
Critical fail.
And she trips on a stray sprig of bramble still trying to bury itself back in the ground, stumbling into melee range of the cloaker but swinging very wide and slamming her club into the ground, instead.

ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he). Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. I love it so.
(I forgot to mention for post 6238...) Quillary felt a little silly earlier when she tried to punch the retreating Cloaker. But she felt a warm surge of energy, as if someone was glad that she was fighting nightmare creatures and was concerned about those misguided Drow elves. With the Blessing of Lliira (rolled +3 in the Game Log after Quillary's unarmed strike), Quillary punched the Cloaker for a point of damage.
Drusk thanks Jorin for the use of the temporary healing potion they were given before the mission, as it heals 9 damage. (I couldn't make out what numbers were rolled in Jorin's post.) Drusk still grimaces, as the brew is bad tasting medicine almost at its expiration date. "You do not need to worry anymore about me. Let us end this foul creature."
Drusk joins the others next to the cloaker. Swinging his mace with the painted yellow happy face on it, Joybringer II hits (18 in the Game Log) for 7 bludgeoning and 2 radiant (Divine Strike ability) damage.
Feldspar blasts the Cloaker twice for 12 damage. She also decides to send a volley of blasts at the body of the ulitharid, but even with Blessing the blasts spray around the corpse, as her anger affected her aim. Quillary had to dodge the errant blasts, so her Shillelagh missed widely.
Between the 2 arrows by Hildigrim, the punch of Quillary, the mace hit, and the blasts, the Cloaker has taken 57 damage total. The Large-sized manta-like creature is still very active. The Cloaker lets out a Moan, a wail of mixed anger and anguish. Everyone roll a WIS save vs. DC 13 or you become frightened of the Cloaker.
The scouts and Volo cringe at the Moan, flinching at the sight of the creature and unable to approach any closer.
Everyone goes (in order: Hildigrim, Quillary, Drusk, Feldspar, Jorin), but remember to check if you are frightened. Quillary, Feldspar, and Jorin are still Blessed (+d4 for saves and to-hit). Drusk's WIS save is a 26 (in the Game Log). Despite the awful Moan, the cleric starts laughing cheerfully, trying to join in harmony with the noise.
