Hildigrim walks north and back (if he can move to C5 and still see the creature, that's where I want to be) before firing another arrow at the giant frog with Volo's aid.
Jorin is able to hit 3 times (32 damage), but even in his rage he is holding back on the strikes, to avoid hitting the flailing Drusk and the bigger lump in the creatures belly. In a similar way, Quillary wishes that Drusk wasn't in the way of her spectral hand attack.
Drusk finds it difficult to his the creature while he is stuck halfway in its mouth. (Game-log disadvantage to-hit: 10 )
Start of new round:
Hildigrim moves to B6, shoots an arrow, then backs up slightly to C5. Another Volo-assisted arrow strikes. (16 damage, cumulative 92 on the creature) The creature has taken enough damage that it would have felled its buddy, but this one is tougher and more ornery than most of its ilk. Even so, it is heavily wounded.
Feldspar is up. (Then B1.)

Feldspar takes another 5 necrotic damage (reduced from 10) from the creatures inner gut.
B1 is definitely struggling, but still active. As a free action, it regurgitates Feldspar to B12. She is prone.
Annoyed by the halfling's arrows, and concerned about being surrounded, it uses Shadow Step to teleport to the west (B,C 6,7), right in front of Hildigrim. It makes a bite at the halfling. (It will move after that, but that depends if Hildigrim is grappled/restrained by its jaws, or not.)
Attack: 17 Damage: 15
(Next post will have an updated map, after I see the result of the attack roll.)

Feldspar splats on the floor, bedraggled. She's still for a second, then her head rises. Eyes full of rage. She jumps up and, seeing Jorin dart off, she follows around the pillar. Her hand rises and fires two eldritch blasts at her former mobile home.
Hildigrim has to do some fancy squirming (while still stuck in the jaws of the creature) to avoid the axe blows, spectral hand, and force blasts that come from every direction.
The Banderhobb is not so nimble, and is shredded.
Combat is over.
You notice that both banderhobbs were clutching a tiny sliver of metal apiece. Each is curved, slightly thicker than a wire and stiffer, shorter in length than the width of your finger.
With some time to relax, Feldspar remembers bumping into some solid things while bouncing around in the B1 banderhobb's gut, but she was too busy to identify it at the time.
(OOC: I assume the party is planning to do the Short Rest in this cavern? You can take care of that, including rolling your Hit Dice, while you are posting other actions you are doing after this fight.)

Quillary wades in to the remains of the creatures with little care for cleanliness, looking for anything that ought not to be there.
Perception (igl): 27
Quillary discovers that cutting open the body is surprisingly neat and odor free. (It is nothing like the shark autopsy scene from Jaws.) The creature's body doesn't contain any of the usual organs, just a holding space in the gut and glands that produce a necrotic substance to subdue the inhabitant. Hildigrim thinks about his arcane studies. Banderhobbs are assembled/created by dark fey magic, made of flesh and darkness. They only survive a few days after creation, and are used to capture prey for their creator.
Quillary finds an intact flask containing a Greater Healing Potion. (So the party has two, from this module.) She also finds various bits of clothing and jewelry, all of Lord's Alliance make: a walking boot, arm greave, a few feet of tattered rope, belt buckle, etc. (The same for the other one, which is already starting to melt down into a tarry mess.)
Drusk asks Feldspar for the captain's ring she found after crossing the chasm. The splinters of metal that the Banderhobbs were carrying were broken off from the ring. Banderhobbs can sense another being if they have part of someone else's possession. They converged on Feldspar in this fight because she was carrying the ring, so they could track her movement before she arrived in this cavern. Seems like they deliberately left the ring near the chasm crossing, in order to know if more people were around.

Feldspar watches her two eldritch blast beams hit the large frog thing, and exults when it falls. She walks over to it and stares down at it. She kicks it. She kicks it a few more times. Then she sits down where she is, and only after a minute or two realizes she's covered in disgusting fluids. She tries to perhaps start to clean herself off... and gives up. She boots the corpse of the frog monster again with her heel while she sits near it. "And I thought they smelled bad..... on the outside."
When she hears the name "Banderhobb" she says, "Even its name is stupid."She tries to begin to clean her wounds and injuries (would LOVE a short rest). She hands over the ring without any complaint, and watches the items come out of the belly. (Did both creatures get dissected?)
"So someone made these things to find more people. And bring them back. Where was I being taken before they spat me out? Seems like Hildigrim was being taken back the way we came. Are we surrounded?"
"So someone made these things to find more people. And bring them back. Where was I being taken before they spat me out? Seems like Hildigrim was being taken back the way we came. Are we surrounded?"
Drusk (to Feldspar): "We should keep a careful watch on the east and west exits, if we spend some time recovering here.
But that bigger one was headed to the east exit with you, at first. I don't think they were trying to go west, just to the closest exit without us around. As far as Hildigrim, they probably (mistakenly) considered him a weaker target, since he is smaller and kept hiding behind obstacles.
We have one path we are following, to track down the missing scouts. But the Underdark has twisting and overlapping passages. Those creatures probably know of alternative routes to go where they want to go."

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
When the banderhobb appeared before him, Hildi dodged uncannily to half the damage (6 added back). During the short rest, he looks about and recovers one arrow that isn't broken. He slides it into his quiver and counts the feathered ends, sighing in disappointment at his shortsightedness. "Eight," he says quietly to himself.
Rolled HD in the auto short rest roller on my sheet, I missed the math and actually don't see on the campaign log but it applied automatically, says at 66 now. I honestly don't know what I was at before.
Feldspar spends the short rest trying to clean herself off. She doesn't take the potion from Quillary, but she gives her a look that might even be appreciative. She nods again at Jorin, furrowing her brow at mention of the eight, but she doesn't inquire further. She listens to Drusk, glances at both entrances, and then shrugs and gives up.
Is there a pool or any source of water in the chamber? She would try to clean herself off there during the rest. Then she'll spend her time sharpening her long knives. After a time, she speaks up. "Thank you."That one required effort. "For helping me get out of there. I owe it to you now, to get you to where you need to go, and back, safely. I'm not giving up my finder's fee, mind you."
Quillary checks around the stalactites and finds a decent source of (mineral) water to use for the party to clean up.
Continue forward, or is there more to be done during the Short Rest?
(The next week is likely to slow down, with traveling for the holiday and dealing with relatives. I'll continue checking the forum, but I won't drive the events unless you tell me you want it done that way.)
