Ilena stands on her booth seat to get a better view, and turns to a new page in her journal and furiously takes notes the better to remember this scene where someone appears to be seeking justice for their slain companions.
OOC > Interstitial notes before the next big update...
Drusk: As you round the left side of the crowd, it is clear that there are three or four other guys with the tattooed man. They are the guy by the winch, and the guy directly to the right of the tattooed guy, and then the two guys to the left of the tattooed guy. The half-orc appears to be getting the best of the tattooed guy, in your estimation. Let me know how you wish to proceed. I should'a numbered them, but I didn't.
Jorin: You have a bet going with Drusk. Jalester is standing so he can get a better look at what is going on.
Pascal: The eye tattoos mean nothing to you. From your seat, you can't really tell how the fight is going.
Ilena: I was going to have you make a Dex check for balancing on the bench, but then realized that Pascal is anchoring that bench pretty solidly. So no worries! :)

Get behind the two guys to the bar-side of the tattoo guy. If it looks like they are planning on bum-rushing the half-orc, then act. Otherwise, keep watching.
If acting, Drusk puts the palm of his hands on each of their shoulders, and digs his fingers into their neck notches, grabbing and squeezing their clavicles. I've read that this is very unpleasant, and the recipient becomes reluctant to do... anything. "Just let them fight it out. No need for you gents to interfere in a fair fight and act like bullies."
In case it is needed, rolling twice for Grapple. Since they are watching the fight, and Drusk is watching them, he might have Advantage while doing a surprise attack. Roll1: 23, Roll2: 23
Oh, Drusk would also give himself Guidance, since that lasts for a minute. He could do that before getting behind the two buddies. Add 1 to the Grapple roll.

Hildigrim's head swivels from Volo to see the half-orc standing. Mimicking Ilena, the halfling turns around and stands on the bench. "That's Yagra," he says to himself. Raising his voice above the din, he looks at Pascal and then back at the scuffle. "That gentleman has just made a big mistake," the rogue smiles. "I have seen Yagra take on ruffians twice as large as he. Best case scenario: He doesn't end up with two broken arms." Hildigrim glances as Volo to see if the author is also watching before returning his eyes to the action.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Ilena is focusing on her journal, she's trying to find a space to squeeze in the name Yaw-graw amidst her other notes as the counterweight on the bench is relieved.

If Hildigrim notices Ilena falling, and he can chivalrously help her, he will. I'll just roll and you can decide what it should be and add the appropriate modifier from my character sheet.
OOC > It's not acrobatics, DDP, that would be to not trip yourself on the way, I think, so it's Athletics, which would be a 10 which is not enough. But you're deft enough to not get caught up in her fall. :)

ey/em/eirs, or they/them works, too (just not he). Role-playing since that keep on those borderlands. I love it so.
(OOC: Ok, no problem, if it's athletics then it's at a -1 so a 3 haha)
Ilena stumbles as the bench tilts from her weight atop it, she tries to regain her balance and it almost looks like she's going to, but then the bench flips vertically and lands with a clatter, Ilena trapped beneath. She looks very concerned as her stick of charcoal and her journal go flying into the crowd and she tries to struggle out from under the bench to retrieve them.
Jorin whoops it up and cheers as the fight goes on. Jalester is clearly taking a wait and see attitude towards it.
Hildi, Pascal, Ilena, and Volo
Volo looks over at the fight and shakes his head slightly, but turns back to Hildi's book as Ilena stands up carefully on the bench, edging out to the end to see better, as Pascal's weight anchors it solidly. Hildi stands, too, and notes that the half-orc's name is Yagra, and that she should win handily. Ilena carefully writes in her journal, while balancing on the bench, at which point Pascal harrumphs about not being able to see, and stands up. The bench wobbles, Ilena windmills, Hildi hops up on the table and reaches out, the bench goes up on end sprawling Ilena on the floor, journal and charcoal flying, and it lands on top of her.
Two employees standing nearby rush over to help, and one or two people watching the fight turn to look.
Drusk
The stocky half-orc sidles in between two fight watchers, up behind two young thugs with eye tattoos on their hands. As Yagra decks head tattoo guy (who is also the Head Tattoo Guy!) they make fists and start forward, but Drusk grabs them by the clavicle. One slips out of his grasp, while the other goes down on one knee in pain.
And now we are in Round mode (aka combat)
Some folks versus some other folks Round 1 Declaration Phase
Map:
Sitrep: Jorin is away from the action. Hildi, Ilena, and Pascal are away from the action. Drusk is right up in there, with one thug grappled, and another in front of him. There are lots of NPCs doing lots of things.
Drusk - AC 16 - 17/17 hp (assuming no shield, since he used both hands to grapple) Hildigrim - AC 14 - 15/15 hp Ilena - AC 16 - 7/7 hp Jorin - AC 14 - 21/21 hp (AC will be +1 when he's holding two weapons) Pascal - AC 14 - 18/18 hp ----- Yagra Stonefist - slightly injured Head Tattoo - well injured, woozy Thug 1 - fine Thug 2 - grappled by Drusk Thug 3 - fine Thug 4 - fine
Monsters declare! Yagra is going to continue beating on Head Tattoo. Head Tattoo is going to be receiving beating. Two thugs near Drusk are going to engage with Drusk. Other two thugs are bearing down on Yagra. At the moment, nobody else in the Yawning Portal seems interested in getting involved.
Notes: Drusk is able to act immediately. Jorin is one Move away, even with crowd, if he is interested. Hildi could get there in one Move (by leaping over/around Ilena), if interested. Ilena and Pascal are blocked by the bench, the helpful employees, etc. but could get close (if interested) and can still act, obvs.
Next: Everyone please declare. Brief refresher (and for abunny) on Concurrent Initiative. DM describes the situation, and asks players to declare their actions. Players may elect to Delay, pushing their actions to the end of the round, but also seeing what transpires before deciding. Or they may declare as many of Action, Move, Bonus Action and/or Reaction as they like. Caveats and if/thens allowed, within reason, but this is only six seconds of time. Then everyone rolls Initiative (every round) just in case, and for any actions declared, and then for anything special the DM requests. Then the DM resolves. Rinse, repeat. Here's a much longer explainer.
Declare Delay or as many of Action, Move, Bonus Action and/or Reaction as you want
This is a lot to do in 6 seconds, but at least some of it was before combat started.
Drusk to Jorin: "If these guys cheat for the tattoo guy, you lose the bet. You might want to do something about that."
Drusk lets go of the grappled guy. To the 2 of them: "Stay calm, You don't have to fight."
To Thug 3: "Flee!" WIS save DC 12, or he has to obey the Command.
