Harivaldr held up his arm and hissed a warning to anyone behind him. He'd seen something like this before, and from what he remembered, the effects could be... dangerous. Unfortunately, he didn't have any means to be rid of a spell like this on his own... and he certainly didn't want to trigger it and hope for the best. "Dathyra, you wouldn't happen to know how to dispel an arcane glyph, would you? Or maybe Sen, you're an explorer, ever dealt with magical traps?"
Dragging Merric along, and slightly tempted to snap a few of the flower stalks in half herself, Dathyra finally came out of her own thoughts when Harivaldr brought them to an abrupt halt. "Dispell it? No, I cannot do that. But, I may know a few ways to give us a little extra protection."
Translation: Dathyra has several spells to boost saving throws, but that's about it.

"Ow! Ow! Ow!" Merric complains as Dathyra drags him to a halt ending his fun. "Uhm...I means...thanks!"....now thinking he could have run into the area that Hari spotted.
"Maybe's we can just be going round it? Hari...how's abouts the fence over there...thinks I can go check it out?"
Merric is pointing at the fence on the left side of the hut...
Waka....the "fluffy" area inside the fence line to the left of the hut...is that grass? Tree cover? Hard to tell from the picture...
((There is a tree on each side of the path, so there would be some cover but I am going to say the fluffy stuff by the fence is some sort of ground cover.))
Harivaldr nodded and spoke encouraging words to his halfling ally. "Sure, Merric, with your quick hand and eye I'm certain we'll have earned our reward soon enough. That said, if there is one glyph here, there could be more, so do be careful... and, Dathyra, if you would be so kind as to grant us all that protection? I'm going to walk into that glyph in a moment here, everyone should stand clear." The skald waited both for Dathyra's spell to be cast and to give Merric a moment to position himself, then, still strumming his countercharm, Harivaldr took a deep breath, readied himself for what could be very painful indeed, and walked over the glyph and towards the hut.
((That's a d8 bardic inspiration on Merric, a countercharm on everyone near Harivaldr, and a trap about to be triggered))
"Very well." She touched Harivaldr's shoulder. "Be careful, and Sen and I can help if something comes after you. This is the best I can do for now, but at least you're safe...well, safer."
Bad time to not have holy water for a Bless spell. Still, Dathyra gives Harivaldr Guidance and is at the ready with a crossbow, if needed.

The afternoon sun shine a pale light in the crisp cool air. There is a fragility to the stillness and it is quickly broken as Hari approaches the door.
Dathyra, Durven and Sen wait by the gates prepared for action or render aid to the brave Harivaldr as selflessly walks into certain danger.
Hari steels his nerves for an explosive blast as he breaks the glyph's barrier, instead he hears rustling of leaves, the slithering of vines and the crackling of bark. He feels something snake its way around his legs.
Merric watches in horror as the yard along the walkway begins to move. He sees vines from the ground cover shoot out towards his friends. The two trees on either side of the path seem to stretch and shake their branches as if they were just woke up angry from a fitful sleep.
The party may have been unaware of the dangers they face but they weren't taken by surprise. Merric is able to take an action as he seems to be out of the fray. Everyone else finds themselves entangled in vines.
Everyone can make a strength check to determine if they can break out of the entangle spell. The ground is now considered difficult terrain.

(I'm good where I'm at. Thought I posted something at work yesterday, but I'm guessing I never hit "post reply.")
"Dealt with a few glyphs before. Normally just tried running through, though sometimes it had I'll effect. Maybe throw a rock or something. Well, on second thought, maybe not." Sen stands with Dathrya and draws his crossbow out. Sen looks at his, then over at Dathrya's crossbow. "You pretty handy with that thing?" Sen turns back and watches as Harivaldr breaks the line. Feeling the vines start to take hold, Sen attempts to break free.

Dathyra could not deny that she felt a certain sense of uneasiness about all of this. On very, very rare occasions, she had encountered those with magical abilities that stemmed from dark forces, and the end result was never good. Still, she had to stay alert to be of some assistance to her companions. Despite the urge to high-tail it out of there, she had to stay strong.
"You pretty handy with that thing?" Sen had asked her.
In truth, her aim had more to do with luck than with skill. She was much better in close quarters with her mace than the crossbow, even though she didn't particularly care for it. Taking another life, especially that of another person was hard. The first time she had crushed a man's skull with it, she had trouble resting for weeks. Her friend Holg had not made it any better. He had nicknamed her "little skull-crusher" in an endearing way, not knowing how much it bothered her. Still, he had taught her how to be more precise with it.
She didn't get a chance to answer before something started wrapping around her ankle. Looking down, she saw the vines as they began to snap tighter around her.

Harivaldr blanched when he felt the vines suddenly reach and wrap around his legs, and while not surprised to see the nearby plant life rear up aggressively, he certainly wasn't happy to see them either. He reached for his longsword, hoping to free himself before the vegetation did him in...
As he sees the vines start to creep up out of the ground, Merric runs up to the window nearest him, knocks frantically on the window, and calls out "Hey....if you's in there. We be meanin' no harm. Calls off yer plants! We's only be comin' to talk!"
Not being too confident anyone is listening, he crouches down (stands?) under the window, hoping for some sort of positive response.

Durven: Swears loudly and tries to break free from the grasping vines. Strength: 8 Initiative: 8. He breaks free and brings his sword out to slash at the vines and nearby trees.
Merric runs up to one of the shuttered windows tries to defuse the situation but there does not seem to be any response.
Hari uses his lower center of gravity to create enough torque to twist out of the vines embrace.
Dathyra and Sen struggle but they have vines wrapped around their legs. They each pull out their crossbows.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Seeing no way to assist directly, Merric tries to pry open the window to maybe get inside the hut to open the door for the others.
Pulling out a pick, he tries to jimmy it open (if he sees some sort of locking mechanism) 26 or if there is no lock to pick, will try to just shove or pull it open using his halfling brute strength - 19
I made the note of "pick" or "strength" as I was not sure if the window even had a pickable lock, in which case I would just try to pry it open, so only meant to take one of the options...
Once again, not sure why it reported the manipulation error when I tried to add an extra roll...must not like adding a new role above on old one? Anyways, I just wiped and added a new single roll with advantage. Also, the numbers don't seem to match the rolls?!? Totally confused.
OK...I see what happened. I needed to do a page refresh to see the correct rolls. Anyways...sorry all for the confusing post.
