OOC: You said you had the Players Handbook. Look at it to see how combat works. Your javalin has +5. Meaning your 14 roll above is actually a 19. It does 1d6+3 damage. Look at your character sheet (https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/9494849), and click the 'actions' button, and then the 'attack' tab under it to see all this. For rolls, when you click the dice button here you can click the 'combat' tab, and fill in the info. It'll do the rest for you~ (note: You can't use your greataxe while wielding your shield)

(Add a space at the end of your damage roll. That should fix it)

It should look like this for your dmg roll:

[roll]1d6+3[/roll]

 But again... if you use the dice roller button it makes things really easy~
