Silver just looks around quickly and nods, probably wasn't the slickest move and neither was this. He just begins to follow after the man until he turns the same corner, hopefully not into an ambush.
Bason watches as Vassa and Kes go into the Bent Nail. He kicks a piece of debris in frustration. He was never very good at investigations. He's trained to fight and protect his friends. He sighs and walks back to the crowds of people, if they are still around talking. If they are, he will ask what they saw happen. Might as well try to be of some use. He's better at talking to people then he is looking for clues in the dirt.
"Hullo, I'm Bason CrimsonBrow. A pleasure to make your acquaintance. Did you see what happened? I was in Trollskull Manor when that blast went off."
persuasion8 to go up to whatever crowd of people are still about chatting.
You walk up as the guards have finished moving people away from the scene and find the other person who had been sharing their tale, still in a group but now all of them silent. "Hello Mr. CimsonBrow. I am Jezrynne Hornraven. Yes, from the Hornravens. I was leaving the Tiger’s Eye (area T5) when I saw it. I tell you, it was not a man. More like a puppet shaped like a man. A puppet without strings. It was on the rooftop. It hurled something into the crowd below that caused the explosion. I saw those halflings burned alive! I saw them!”
[OOC] Vassa casts enhance ability (Eagle's Splendor) on himself and then attempts to use deception on Tally to convince the shopkeep to allow him and Kes to search the premises for the suspect: 27
Tally is taken aback. "Well of course you must do your due diligence. I've not hear anyone other than yourselves come in but feel free to check."
OOC: There is nothing relevant in Tally's shop but if you want to look for something in particular, let me know.

As Silver approaches the man looks a bit nervous but otherwise he can't get a read on him. "I saw what you took. From the dead guy. Sure be a shame if the guards found out. How about you share the wealth and I'll look the other way. I'd say... 100 gold should do it."
Vassa winks at Kes as they begin their search of the building, but the bard soons grows dissapointed and frustrated at finding nothing that seems to relate to the exposion or the mystery suspect.
Stubbornly refusing to believe that the burned man just dissapeared, the now frowning half-drow repeatedly taps floors and walls, looking for any secret compartments or doorways. Likewise, Vassa searches thoroughly through every room, looking for any tools or materials in the shop that he thinks might be used to create explosives, magical or otherwise.
[OOC] investigation check: 15 *Edit: the only non-explosion related things that might catch Vassa's attention are any musical instruments if there are any in the store.

We will be sure to mention what a cooperative and upstanding citizen you are in our report. Good day!"
Back out on the street, the bard's shoulders slump a little as he turns to his ranger friend and asks somewhat dispondently, "What do you think, Kes? I'm open to any ideas... cause mine certainly aren't panning out lately."

" I don't know how he did it.....magic, possibly but he just seems to have vanished into thin air.", she looked towards the Bent Nail as Vassa and Kestrell emerged.

Bason listens to the man's tale with sympathy in his eyes. "It's a hard thing to see, people being burned alive. Is there anything else you can tell me about this puppet? What it looked like, which roof it was on, what direction it was going? Anything we could use to avenge these people?"
"Hey, Sel. No luck at all, I'm afraid. I'm almost certain that he's not in the Bent Nail and didn't escape down that sewer entrance though. What about all of you... any leads?"
Vassa looks around the area, trying hard to remember what Volo and Magistrate Kylynne had told them about the homes and businesses around here. Seeing a building with a large chimney, the halfdrow recalls that there is a weapon and armour smithy nearby - Steam and Steel. 'And wasn't there meant to be a private detective here somewhere as well' the bard thinks to himself as he walks back with Sel, continuing to study their surroundings for inspiration.

Back out on the street, the bard's shoulders slump a little as he turns to his ranger friend and asks somewhat dispondently, "What do you think, Kes? I'm open to any ideas... cause mine certainly aren't panning out lately."
"Yes, back to the streets. Maybe we should check out that Stanley Steamer place across the road. The fireball slinger could have gone in there."
As they emerge and see Selinae and Phaedra:
"Nothing. Should we see what everyone else found out? Has anyone checked out this place?" Kestrell motions to Steam and Steel.
Bason listens to the man's tale with sympathy in his eyes. "It's a hard thing to see, people being burned alive. Is there anything else you can tell me about this puppet? What it looked like, which roof it was on, what direction it was going? Anything we could use to avenge these people?"
"Why it was on that roof there"and she points to the roof next to Corellon’s Crown (the roof to the west of T4 on the map).
As you all are going about what you've said, Bason, Kestrell, and Vassa will notice the City Guard shifting around and standing straighter, all looking towards a pair of men who just walked into the alley from the north entrance, near the manor. One of the men is wearing a City Watch uniform while the other man is dressed as a mage. Behind them you see twenty constables following them into the alley. The mage quickly gives orders to the constables and guards. Soon everyone is being told to return to their homes if they live in the alley. Those who don't live there are each paired with a constable who starts questioning them. The mage starts examining the bodies.
Bason overhears a conversation near him:
A constable approaches Mrs. Hornraven, "Ma'am, I know that you don't live in this area. Is your husband nearby?"
The woman's entire demeanor changes. While you still see some of the emotion she was just showing, this woman has stilled her face and is now all business. She lets out an airy laugh, "No sir, Constable. Seeing how I came here to hire a private investigator to check into some of his dealings I thought it prudent not to bring him along. I assume we can settle this matter quickly and let me get back to my estate?"
"Absolutely ma'am," replies the constable, "Please follow me to the side here where we can speak in peace and I'll take your statement and then ensure the City Guard lets you exit the alley."
Bason is approached by another constable, like everyone else. "Sir, do you live here in the alley? If so I need you to return to you home where someone will come and question you shortly."
Within moments there's a group of three constables heading to the east side of the alley. "Excuse me? The group of you will need to be questioned. Do you live here in the alley?"
"Well, it seems we are out of time. Guess we will have to put a pause on everything till they clear out. Hopefully someone got some clues" Elon says feeling a little defeated.

But that is not what you are here to talk to us about is it. Ohh a terribly frightful mess this seems to be... and all those dead innocents. It made me weep seeing all... all those... bodies. May the kind eyes of Mystra bless there pour souls and bring them some peace."

When Bason relays his findings, and they make it back to the Manor, Kestrell will go up to the roof and take a look around, looking for likely places that the 'puppet' could have fired the fireball from, and then looking for any evidence of recent activity on the nearby roofs.

His eyes track the watch officer and the mage, trying to overhear their names or note anything distinctive about either of them.
