As you approach the walls of the Peaktop Aerie you hear someone from behind the wall call out "Visitors approaching." A moment later a door in the wall opens and a halfling in uniform steps out to greet you. "Hello citizens. What brings you to the home of the Griffon Cavalry?"
Kestrell steps forward "Hello the peak! What a nice place you folks have up here away from the noise of the city! Boy-howdy, it's a welcome respite, I'll tell you! "
"Say, how much for a ride on one of them there large flying critters?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"Kestrell, we did not come here looking for a joy ride. Nothing of the sort."
"Excuse my friend, sir. I am Phaedra Starcaller, Cleric of Our Blessed Lady of Mysteries, Mystra. We are actually looking for a fellow who has caused some trouble within Waterdeep and have been hoping to ask for your aide. You see it is a mechanical creation which was involved in a horrendous attack, that caused the burning deaths of a number of citizen including children. We have a devise given to us by it creator that can detect it if it is within five hundred odd feet. But we can not cover ground like the glorious Griffin Cavalry can..." Phaedra adds, raising an eyebrow.
"Would you be able to assist as?" the cleric says, in a most innocent voice.

I bet i should get advantage because I have tugged at his heart strings? Yes?
Persuasion adv b/c of Sel's help action: 11 Looks like we're going with the 20.
"Well you definitely can't ride, not with all that armor anyway. But perhaps one of your friends," The halfling looks over... and then up at Selinae before turning back to Kestrell. "Looks like you might get that joyride after all. Iffin we can find a volunteer. Come with me."
You all follow the halfling through the door and he leads you up to an area that vaguely looks like a cross between a stable and bedroom. Looking around you see several of the griffins lying in large piles of hay and next to each is a bed with what you assume is an out of uniform griffin knight. The halfling walks up to the group and whistles a sharp note. Everyone looks up and the halfling says, "These folks say they're trying to find a murderer and in order to do so they'd appreciate a ride over the city. Anyone up for it?"
You hear several chuckles and a few "no's" from the group. After a moment of silence one knight says, "Aye, I'd be willing to do it in the morning. Kody and I already flew our max hours today. Come back at sunup." The halfling looks back at you all, "Someone volunteered. That's rare. So come back in the morning, tell whomever answers the gate that you're to fly with Valrun and Kody and they'll let ye in." Looking back to Phaedra, "You leave all that armor at home and you could fly instead of your friend here. I'll let you folks figure that one out though." Looking to Selinae, "Sorry lass, but you're above the... height limits for riding. Personally, I like taller women, but rules is rules." Then, with a wink he adds, "I'll be off duty in the morn so ye could just come back and keep me company if ye'd like."
Kestrell gets excited when the halfling mentions that he might be able to go for a ride. As they enter the stables, Kestrell looks around, taking it all in. "Wow, you've got some nice equipment here. Fine leather saddles and such. How long does it take to learn to ride one of these thangs, anyway?"
Selinae smiled broadly, " Phaedra is definetely the woman you want for flying over the city."
" So there are height limits for....riding?", she said with a smirk in the halflings direction.
" My dads about your size and him and mum never seemed to have any trouble.", she smirked.
" We'll see you in the morning then. While Phaedra hunts villains we can discuss home brews and the care and maintenance of large primal creatures."
"Well, we should discuss that after we leave." Kestrell turns back to the halflings, "Valrun, Kody, we'll see you in the morning! You guys like flufferjacks? Serinade knows just the place, we'll bring a stack."
As they walk back to town: "Alright Phaedra, me or you? Do you feel comfortable without your armor and flying high above the ground? I don't mind doing it, for sure. I spose we could round up the rest of our folks and see if any of them want to do it as well?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
"May Mystra bless you and the Knights" Phaedra smiles and offers the halfing a little bow.
As Selinae continues to talk about height restrictions, and then how her mum and dad never had any issues, the priestess covers her discomfort as best she can.
As they head back towards the Manor, Phaedra looks over Kestrell as he makes his comment about flying and armour.
"I am perfectly comfortable without armour. In fact if you remember correctly I have not worn armour to half of the little escapades that we have endured such as the first docks visit as well as that disaster at the bakehouse and even our little sojourn into acting because I always seem to get myself dressed up into something" she makes air quote marks "more fitting my circumstance. I am sure that is what Vassa said."
"I will not lie to you Kestrell. I would love to fly on a griffin. I have no doubt it would be an amazing experience however I am a team player and I know that you are excited by the prospect as well so I would not wish to take that from you. As for the rest of the folks, I think this can be our treat. After all, the three of us have done the heavy lifting on this one."

"Yep, it's going to be quite the experience. OK, just the three of us then. I am excited about it sure, but who's the best fit for the job? You could run both the widget finder and cast your spells, right? I could just run the widget finder."
"You are right Kestrell, it would make more sense for me to go. After a rest tonight I should be able to maintain my spell for at least half an hour. During that time I will be able to cover an area which is double that of the device."
"I think this is a really good idea. I can not believe that a Knight was willing to help us. To be honest I was all out of ideas of what to do to find the Nimblewright but this is genius."
Phaedra can not hold back a little smile.
