Silver just speaks up from below the mask"How do we know you won't just get reinforcements and wait for us outside. I say we gut him, can't trust his future actions. Like he said we just killed his friend."
Hearing this Zemk starts slowly backing toward the door, "Woah now, I never called Krentz my friend! Quite frankly he was an ass. And I'm not going to grab reinforcements because I don't want anyone to know I was here when you killed Grum’shar. Xanathar wouldn't look kindly on that."
Zemk doesn't seemed surprised by Vassa's questions. He keeps his eyes on Lockbox as he carefully pulls out a couple daggers and a coin purse and drops them to the floor.
"Your friend is being tourtured in the next chamber. Follow yonder door, it'll lead to a long hall which opens into an even longer room. You're friend is in there with Grum’shar and a mindflayer named Nihiloor. There was talk of using an intellect devourer on him so you may want to hurry."
"As for that door, " Zemk points to the one that's been barricaded, "there's a blasted gray ooze in there and it's already killed the two goblins I sent in after it. As you can see" he points to his daggers on the floor, "I don't have the equipment to fight such a creature. Now, I've answered your questions. If you'd be so kind as to let me take my coin and go spend it to get black out drunk for the next few days so that I can forget about what your friend did to Krentz , I'd appreciate it."
[OOC] INSIGHT CHEEEECK!!! 15 is he telling the truth, in particular about the mind flayer, and does he seem like he's vengeful towards us?
Vassa tries hard not to give anything away while he listens, but the bard is pretty sure that both eyebrows raised a 'little' at the mention of a mindflayer, though the half-drow merely gives his companion's a reassuring smile and nods as Zemk finishes speaking. Clearing his throat a little, he'll check the pouch, but if it's just coin, he'll toss back a couple of gold saying,'
"I think that we can allow you your freedom and some respite... but if you cross us in ANY way whatsoever, we WILL find you. And... well, you saw what happened to poor Krentz there.
Besides, I have a feeling that we might have use of some contacts in low places in the future, so maybe we'll meet again under less bloody circumstances. If so, remember who let you walk away unharmed with coin enough to drown your sorrows!"
Vassa shrugs to his companions indicating that he thinks that they should let Zemk go, but the bard realises that it might not play out that way. The half-drow is especially watching Raener and Silver, unsure of what the two might do.

And he doesn't detect any animosity in Zemk. But he's not 100% convinced on the existence of the mindflayer or the grey ooze.

At the mention contacts in low places Zemk tears his eyes off Lockbox and looks back toward Vassa. "As I'm sure you can imagine, I'm always looking to make some money. When Zemk bowed he quickly grabbed his coin pouch and pocketed it.
Silver just looks at the man a smile growing under his cloaked mouth as the mention of Xanathar's reaction to the news was mentioned by Zemk himself"No...because he won't be in the city. Come tomorrow Xanathar will know that Zemk here not only assisted in the planned assassination of Grum'shar, but was the very individual to plunged the dagger into his heart. Not only that when his dear friend Krentz tried to stop him heroically, he ordered his warforge to smash in his skull brutally. It was by a brave goblin who escaped his hired helpers that walked right through every trap and planted guard, that his plans were found out to slowly attempt the total collapse of the Xanathar Guild itself for his true alliance The Shadow Thieves. Essentially what I'm saying Zemk is you have the night to get the **** out of Waterdeep and disappear, for the rest of your life you will be wondering if Xanathar has sent assassins after you. Do I make myself clear Zemk?"
Silver just watches the man to ensure that he understands, still waiting to unleash the dagger should the man choose to fight.
As soon as Zemk is out of the room, Renaer looks to Vassa. "We need to get in there and save Floon. I'm willing to go in first if needed."
Vassa cocks an eye at Silver's steely threats towards Zemk in puzzlement, wondering if the half-drow and duergar might not share some history, but he just shrugs. It's one less thug they have to worry about right now, and that's what counts most to the live-in-the-moment bard.
Nodding at Raener, Vassa sweeps his hand in an inviting gesture towards the door, but then holds up one finger warningly, saying,'
"Why by all means, noble Raener. It seems likely that we've gotten as far as we can with subterfuge. It's time to end this, and with that wicked throwing arm of yours, who better to lead the way.
Though one tiny little thing first, if you don't mind... did you perchance hear mention of a ******* MINDFLAYER! Err, sorry about the outburst, but it's just that I don't fancy being eaten alive or spending the rest of my once charmed life as a slaving drudge to super squid monster... which seems quite likely if we run into one unprepared."

[OOC] Silver: We're going to go with the initiative rolls from earlier.
As the party slinks down the hall as quiet as they can, the see glimpses of the room beyond...
Threadbare curtains hang on the east wall of a long hall, in the middle of which a muscular half-orc in dingy robes stands with his foot on the chest of a male human with wavy red-blond hair. Fire burns around the orc’s clenched fist, and his victim cries and squirms helplessly beneath him.
Seated on a raised platform to the south is a nightmarish figure wearing black robes. It has large white eyes and rubbery purple skin, with four tentacles encircling its inhuman mouth. It cradles and gently caresses what looks like a disembodied brain with feet.
Renaer str check: 3 Grum'shar str check: 13
Seeing Floon in danger, Renaer charges in and attempts to tackle the half-orc. Unfortunately, in his haste Renaer trips over his own feet and falls into Grum'shar and slides off. Grum'shar takes a few steps back to maintain his balance then looks up and sees the party entering the room.
'Shaking off his numbness at the thought of what they could be facing, Vassa tries to remind himself that he's always wanted to do something truly heroic, something ballad worthy... and this could be his chance. He also looks around at these steadfast and extremely capable friends, and taking a deep breath, moves into the room behind Raener and Lockbox, crossbow in hand.
Seeing Grum'shar with his foot on Floon ahead, Vassa will prepare to throw a biting remark at the half-orc IF it looks like he's going to seriously hurt the noble BEFORE Raener and Locky get into the room,'
"Hey, that must be the Xanathar boss with the unfortunate name... what was it? Bum'jar, Dumb'star, Crumb'bar?"
If Grum'shar seems inclined to talk before battle commences, Vassa will ask,'

No dangers seen other than the enemies. You detect no traps. But you do suspect the curtains hide exits to the room.
Aenio, seeing that Grum'shar has been pushed back from Floon, casts Lightning Lure on Floon and pulls him up to just in front of Kestrell and Lockbox. "Come sir, it is time to leave"
Grum'shar sees Floon slide across the floor. Then looks to Renaer and realization spreads across his face. "I'll gladly trade that one for this one. He's the one I wanted in the first place. Leave, I have work to do." Grum'shar walks up to Renaer who is still prone on the floor.
Vassa, you see that Grum'shar is now about to attack Renaer. Here's his wis save: 14.
Grum'shar grabs his head as the pain from Vassa's spell hits him, then he shakes it off and continues walking over to Renaer. Grum'shar then starts to chant. It's a spell you all heard before, Aenio used it earlier. A bolt of fire leaves Grum'shar's hand and strikes the floor next to Renaer's head. Renaer looks up at Grum'shar who smiles. "The next one won't miss. Or, you can tell me everything now and save yourself the pain of torture. Personally, I hope you stay quiet."
Asariel speaks up from the back, "Hey Grum'shar, how have you been? We really need to catch up some time, but you look busy now. Let us have poor Renaer back and we'll get out of your hair."
Grum'shar wis save: 13 Asariel has cast Charm Person on Grum'shar.
Grum'shar looks up to Asariel, "Oh hi. Yes it is good to see you again. Renaer, go be with your friends." Grum'shar reaches down and helps Renaer to his feet.
Lockbox is confused by the sudden turn of events. He had wanted to use his axe. He looks back to the group for advice? "Do I attack?"
Silver just smiles as he watches the would be wizard fall to a spell - he just looks around trying to find a way to hide as he approaches the mind flayer. He begins to move ducking into the alcove near Renaer. His dagger flips in the hand waiting to be thrown if the mind flayer moves in line with the alcove.

Asariel has cast Charm Person on Grum'shar.
