Lock was no stranger to dark passages, he walked them his whole life. Once, while exploring an old mine, his old captain had him go first to set off traps while the rest of the band of pirates stood behind him laughing at the clinks to his body.
“This way.” He said following the signs they were told about, his axe out and ever vigilant. “Keep up friend of friend.”

Are we ever sure that we exist? Do we have feelings? Or are we just NPC's designed to think highly? If so what is our purpose? Why are we here? Who are the players? Or are there Players?
At Raener's mention of this being a warehouse full of stolen goods, Vassa will also open a few crates and boxes as he goes, though will only do so out-of-sight of the watch officers.

"I agree."Whispers Kestrell as he follows the rest of the group, still looking forr a rapier or short sword, a hand crossbow and bolts, more arrows for his bow, ball bearings, caltrops or a crowbar in the crates and chests.
As you both look around you see guards to breaking open the crates to search them. you see weapons, rations, boots, black uniforms, and other gear being pulled from the various crates. You also see Renaer walking around grabbing various items without any hesitation.

The guard assigned to watching the kenku looks around and shrugs, "You can talk to him until we leave." Glancing at the rest of the watch, "and from the looks of it that may not be any time soon."

...
Kestrell, seeing Renaer take things out of the crates, begins to as well.
Kestrell finds a nice looking rapier, a crowbar, and a hand crossbow with bolts, stows the crowbar, and fastens the rapier to his left side, and hand crossbow to his right and slightly behind.

The black uniforms are the ones that the Zhentarim wear, many people in town would recognize them. There are at least several dozen of them in the warehouse.
"Sorry guys, I have been meaning to get supplies at the next merchant I saw, but haven't had a chance yet. This will tide me over. I can't find any soap though. Hmm."
Kestrell, now his backpack considerably more full with a loop of rope around the outside, a healers kit on his belt, along with a waterskin, a pouch of caltrops and a pouch of ball bearings, joins the rest of the group.
"Hey, should we investigate upstairs before we leave? Maybe they left some clues."

"Nicely geared up there, Kes, though your taste in accessories could use a little refinement. Might I suggest a feathered cap, or some fetching green tights, perhaps?
In fact, maybe some dressing up is in order all around. See these Zhentarim uniforms, all? Why don't we stir up even more trouble between these two waring gangs by infiltrating the lair of these Xanatharian's in disguise? At the very least, some degree of incognito may help hide our real identities and forestall possible future relataliation or... embarrassment?"
'Vassa is already pulling on the uniform, adopting nefarious villain poses, and checking himself out in any nearby reflective surfaces while he does so. He speaks to everyone in the group, but directs the last bit towards Asa, along with a wink and his winning smile.'

"Hey, should we investigate upstairs before we leave? Maybe they left some clues."
"If you're super keen on finding soap, Kes, here in this wretched den of iniquity, I would suggest looking on the floor in the shower room.. though I somehow doubt there is one... a shower room, that is.
But yes, I'm also kind of curious what might lie upstairs? We've already rescued two people today - the bird-man and the tarp-challenged young noble here. Maybe a fair damsel awaits us upstairs, in need of rescuing by some dashing hero types?"
[OOC] Vassa is intentionally needling Raener just to see what kind of response he gets. The last is again directed towards Asa, the not especially insightful bard attempting to get a read on the sorceress's feelings or thoughts.

"Nicely geared up there, Kes, though your taste in accessories could use a little refinement. Might I suggest a feathered cap, or some fetching green tights, perhaps?
"I only wear tights in the winter, under my main paints."
Kestrell watches Vassa try and put on the Zhentarim uniform, a bit perplexed, and a bit amused at his poses.
"Nicely geared up there, Kes, though your taste in accessories could use a little refinement. Might I suggest a feathered cap, or some fetching green tights, perhaps?
"Why would we want to look like Zhentarim?"
"Well while I and others of our merry band may have no identities to speak of that are worth protecting, some of us may have loved ones or status as such that they would want kept unknown to sewer dwelling criminal sorts who might use said information for fell purposes.
Besides which, it surely can't be a bad idea to throw a bit of subterfuge in the pot when mixing up a batch of 'invade the hideout' cookies.
Besides, besides - it is FUN to dress up, Kes. And these cloaks really are quiet fetching!"
'Regardless of whether the others are persuaded by his suggestion, having doned the Zhentarim uniform, Vassa begins to climb the stairs, looking for signs of danger as he goes.'
[OOC] When Vassa is talking about protecting identities, he's going to not subtly *wink, wink, nudge, nudge* Kestrell while looking at Asa.

A light goes off in Kestrell's mind. "Oh! She's a noble?!? Why is she hiding it? What is she doing here?" Kestrell thinks to himself. Kestrell gives an exaggerated nod to Vassa.
"I have nothing to hide. My family is far, far from here. The Zhentarim wouldn't have a clue how to find them, nor be able to do anything to them if they knew where to look."
Kestrell grumbles next:
"But, I'll wear a cloak if you think we need to blend in."

You don't see any traps or hidden dangers.
'Seeing Asa smile back, and detecting no visible signs of danger, Vassa moves boldly and courageously up the stairs with his crossbow drawn... though the bard quickly makes way for Lock and/or Kes to take point if either moves to the fore. Casting a rakish glance in the sorceress's direction, the half-drow sings out,'
"The stair looks clear, so I guess we need not fear... my dear."
