The Long Road of the Mage King (Game Thread)

(Well ow, Keyrie is not going to be able to last very many rounds with this thing.)

"Myon finish that off fast." Keyrie is not doing very well. Keyrie will use Wild Shape to turn into a Black Bear, hoping to buy herself some time. Meanwhile Myon bites at the monster in front of him.

Bite Attack: 21 Damage: 13

Gash is starting to worry, "are we going to win? do i teleport us?"

Gash runs forward 30ft just in case he needs to get everyone out. Then casts Magic Missile again at the vrock.

Damage: 10

(I forgot to roll advantage against Feytok. 20, 22, 6, 21, 11. Critical damage from the second manes attack: 6)

Myon bites hard on the manes and it vanishes in a puff of oily smoke that leaves an unpleasant taste on the lion's tongue.

Gash wounds an increasingly wounded vrock, but does not yet fell it.

Feytok slashes at two more manes (3 and 4).

Greataxe Attack: 16 Damage: 15

Greataxe Attack: 23 Damage: 15

Both manes are sent back to the fiend pits, leaving only three manes.

(Dog and Tock are up.)

Tock takes a shot at the vrock with another enhanced bolt and then runs off to catch the carriage:

Attack: 25 Damage: 15 (plus 2 for the attack roll)

Tock's bolt hits the vrock squarely in the back, narrowly missing its spine, if it even has a spine. It screeches in pain at the sky, arching its back and spreading its wings. One of the wings is a little droopy. The vrock pants, but doesn't fall.

Tock catches up to the carriage, not quite able to reach it as it barrels over the cobblestone.

(Dog is up!)

In the following turns Tock will try to catch the carriage, calm the horses and turn it around. Not going all the way back to the battle, but pulling up like a 100ft short of it, turning it away once again to be able to flee. Once all of that happens successfully and there is still battle then he will see if he can help out.

(OOC: apologies for the slight delay, had some work and family stuff crop up but things are good now.)

As a reaction to the H2 attack, Dog casts the Force cantrip and a globe of force briefly engulfs him, causing the attack to miss (AC +1 so no damage).

Big Dog hits at H2 again with his warhammer: 

Attack: 26 Damage: 9 (if advantage from flanking it with FeyTok 23 but assuming not)

Forgot about the extra 2 big damage, and also a CON save 17

"We can do this! They're just fiends." Dog rumbles. 

(I didn't think the hound hit you without the reaction!)

Before Dog finally resists the poison, he takes 9 damage.

All three manes try to claw Feytok.

Claw Attack: 20 Damage: 8

Claw Attack: 12 Damage: 2

The hellhound tries to bite Dog again.

Bite Attack: 8 Damage: 4

The vrock steps forward to slash at Myon with its talons after attempting to bite Keyrie.

Beak Attack against Keyrie: 14 Damage: 10

Talon Attack against Myon: 11 Damage: 21

Tock:

 (The map hasn't really changed. Everyone but Tock can take their round 8 turn.)

Seeing how injured Myon is Keyrie gently shoves him, motioning for him to move towards the carriage as best she can as a bear. Myon, hopefully disengages and moves as far as possible towards the carriage. Keyrie roars attacking the Vrock twice. 

Bite Attack: 5 Damage: 3
Claw Attack: 15 Damage: 8

Keyrie slashes at the vrock's limp wing after missing with her jaws. Myon does not flee, preferring to keep his front towards the manes and the vrock. He slashes at the manes (7) with his claws.

Claw Attack:  6 Damage:  11

Gash lets out a huge sigh as he begins to feel drained. "Last one." He mutters to himself as he brings his hands back and thrusts them forward as three more magic missle exit his palms.

Big Dog grunts as the hound's teeth sink deep into his arm, and he raises his warhammer up and tries to crush the hellhound before it breathes fire again:

Attack: 25 Damage: 12 biggz 4

He lets out a scream of frustration, "this infernal dog won't drop, but as soon as it does, I'll come to your aid, FeyTok and Myon!"

As a bonus action he will use Second Wind to regain 7 hp

The vrock is clearly on its last legs but Doggear's blow just glances off the hellhound.

Feytok positions himself behind M5 and lets loose with a 15 foot cone of flame (burning hands aimed to miss Keyrie and Myon) that hits M5, M7, 5 the vrock (all have fire resistance.)

M5 DEX(14) check: 6 or suffer 6 (half due to resistances or 1/4 damage on a success.)

M7 DEX(14) check: 19 or suffer 14 (half due to resistances or 1/4 damage on a success.)

Vrock DEX(14) check: 14 or suffer 6 (half due to resistances or 1/4 damage on a success.)

The manes are still standing, although one just barely, but the vrock screeches as the flames tear through its tattered wings and it falls to the ground, lifeless.

M7 attacks Myon with its claws.

Claw Attack: 15 Damage: 5

M5 and M6 both attack Feytok.

Claw Attack: 10 Damage: 4

Claw Attack: 21 Damage: 3

Meanwhile, the hellhound bites at Dog again.

Attack: 21 Damage: 11

(3 manes and a hellhound remain.)

Tock:

 (Dog, Keyrie, Feytok, and Gash may all go.)

Gash readies his crossbow once more and fires at the hound 

Attack: 11 Damage: 7

The bolt flies wide, embedding in the side of a house.

Feytok slashes recklessly at  M5 and M6.

Greataxe Attack against M5: 12 Damage: 15

Greataxe Attack against M6: 14 Damage: 7

(D'oh. With advantage, 15,  8)

M5 disappears into a puff of black vapor but M6 only squawks as it is slashed across the face.

(M6 and M7 remain, as does H2. Dog and Keyrie are up still.)

As a reaction Dog casts shield to avoid the attack from the hellhound. He roars again.

He remembers his clockwork amulet and grabs it to activate it, feeling the gears shift and slow down time. He sees the hound clearly and hits it hard on the nose with his hammer. (Attack roll 10 + 7 damage 12 big damage 1)

He looks back to see if he can locate the carriage or a stray horse, and at Gash again to see if he helm is even an option.

Dog's hammer smashes into the hellhound as it breathes in deeply, the back of its throat flaring with hellfire. But the blow is a final one. As the hound crumples to the ground, the spark of fire inside it's throat and its eyes fades.

Looking back over his shoulder, Dog cannot see the carriage, which has disappeared around a bend, along with Tock.

(Keyrie is up. Only the 2 manes remain.)

Seeing Myon didn't flee but the Vrock dead Keyrie snorts, letting Myon continue to fight the mane in front of him. 

Assuming Myon attacks the mane in front of him. Bite Attack: 25 Damage: 8

If Myon doesn't attack or if the Mane is still not dead Keyrie will attack the same one, if not she will go after the last remaining Mane.
