Gash rushes the teleport activation and everyone suffers an extremely bumpy ride. Everyone (including Gentoa) takes 8 damage as they slam off of a hard surface and appear next to the city wall in a wide alley. A number of locals are surprisingly gathered here, playing dice and drinking ales. Gentoa falls limp to the ground, unconscious.
"What happened, where are we, and can we find Nev somehow? I assume now that all of hell will be looking for us. Seems like they won't get a good reception in a city so that's an advantage. Can we find Milil or Tymora's temple to seek refuge for now?" Dog says, looking around for someone friendly to answer the questions he's listing with his friends. he turns to Genny.
"I'm so glad you're okay little one. That could have been bad. Or merely unpleasant. Instead it was briefly scary. Woof! Can you tell us where you think your mama is? We think she is close! Gash, can you ask her exactly where she is, or tell her to meet us in a temple?"
One of the locals who was watching the dice game wanders over. "You all okay? I used t'be part of the city watch. Magic ain't illegal, but if you use it carelessly, in Masa....well, they'll throw the book at you."
He takes a look gulp of his ale, which is probably breakfast for the poor sot, and gives a smile filled with more than a few holes. "Anyone fancy a game of dice?"
"My apologies, colonel [or whatever overly-generous status moniker Dog would use from his mercenary/soldiering days, to give more respect to a military veteran/city watch soldier than may be really merited]," Dog says. "We didn't know. I'd love a dice game but I can't.We're just trying to reunite a girl with her mother. Thought one of the temples might help. Know anyone at the Temple of Tymora?"
He drops a few copper in the man's palm, for his next round of drinks or dice.
"Ha!" the sot says. "Like I would ever have made captain. Just a poor retired night watch here. As for the temple, well..." He looks at the coppers in his hand. "I've never been much of a religious man myself. Buuut, you'll find most temples in the temple district. Follow the city wall to the northeast gate. Then you can follow Kyllas Avenue to Square Central. From there, you can find temple district down Temple Road." He raises his glass, takes another big drink, and saunters back over to the dice game, patting one of the other men on the back.
Following the man's directions takes them back a very familiar route, through the large square, and to the twin temples of Helm and Tymora.
Before actually going to the temples, Dog would make sure to ask his friends if there was a better plan. They had some sort of success the last time they were taken in by a temple of Tymora so that was his only thought.
If everyone else is good with giving it a try, he'd follow the directions and go to the temple and ask for whoever was in charge. He'd ask them if they knew about the recent conflict with the heavens and the hells, and then, looking to his friends for permission (if the person seems at all reliable), tell them all about their visit to the temple in Karkarus, Mother Mentiri, the deva Gabrienne, the subsequent pursuit by fiends, the kidnapping by minotaurs, Taur, the journey to reunite Genny with her mother, and their most recent fiasco in the garden.
He's looking for help and advice on how Nev might be found, where she might be, and if there's a priest who knows spells advanced enough to find her.
“Good thinking Dog. They were good to us last time. Sorry for getting us out of there so abruptly. If Nev told us she were to deal with the warlock... we would take her right? We are the protectors... but then why would need to have a collar slapped on us? It would have to be because it’s not Nevs wish and to have an insurance policy on us to make sure we do it.”

The head priestess of Tymora is named Gyllis. She listens to Dog's tale without interruption, smiling at Gentoa at times, nodding receptively at others. In the end, Mother Gyllis is sympathetic. "I am sorry that Mentiri was forced to push you away. You will find no such trouble here in Masa," she says. "We have heard word of the war between the Heavens and the Hells near the Cloudspire Mountains. It does not pose an immediate threat to our city so we have no such compulsion. Nor am I surprised at the news that devils and devas met to negotiate terms here in Masa. Sister Muna was visited by a herald of Tymora two weeks ago. She was tasked with seeking out a reformed thief to serve the angels as a spy."
The elderly woman leans in with a gleam in her eye. "It was all quite exciting!" she says in a whisper. In her proper voice, she says, "I do not know where they negotiations happened or where the child's mother may be now, unfortunately. I can offer two things for you, however. The first is, naturally, a prayer to Tymora. Our friends at the Temple of Milil can do the same for the girl's father." She looks adoringly at Gentoa with a soft smile.
"The other thing I can do is propose some possibilities to help give you direction. One is to catch the attention of this minotaur again. Perhaps wait in Square Central or the garden for him to find you. I have to believe he is looking for you. Another option is to speak with Sister Muna. She may be able to find out something from her reformed thief. You could also consider contacting Gentoa's mother again. Even if you fear that you cannot trust her, perhaps you can get something useful from her. Or just use her to set up a new meeting with the minotaur. Does any of that help?"
Tock listens to all of this and asks, "Are we in haste? I mean we are finally here and people know that we are here, but is there something that puts a time pressure on us?"
"We could hide out here with Mother's permission, talk to Sister Muna and possibly look around ourselves as well. I find it hard to believe that nobody has noticed anything happening in the city with both devils and devas about. They at least eat and drink, don't they? That means someone has been delivering lots of stuff to possibly a weird place. Or more prayers have been answered in the city.. or more donations made to the temples. Or more people disappearing."
Turning to Mother Gyllis, "Have you noticed any changes in this time frame? Even if you don't think it important, we may be able to follow some threads to gain an upper hand without direct confrontation."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
To Gash, Dog says "I would protect Nev and Genny to the warlock if that is truly what she wished. But they are not being at all forthcoming with the deal. We may be pawns in this, but we're pawns they seem to find important. I'd really like to know more about any other prophecies. But most importantly, we've mostly been dealing with devils and other hellspawn and their friends. The angels owe us more than they've given us in time and information."
After hearing Gyllis' response, Dog relaxes at the warm reception and does his best return the warmth, even though he is still jumping out of his skin. "Thank you very much for the information, the prayer, and the hospitality. It means a lot. And yes, it would be very helpful to talk to Sister Muna."
If Dog could speak with both Gyllis and Muna, he'd love to, and then ask a bunch of questions, fiddling with his headband distractedly.
"What did this herald and reformed thief say? Could we talk to the thief? Why do you think it's a good idea for us to see the minotaur again, and do you know of any religious or divine vulnerabilities of those who ally themselves with hellspawn? Do you know of a way for such people to be able to scry or seek out our location using divine magics? Are the grounds of this temple consecrated at all? Would a devil or a friend of a devil be able to easily walk in here? Do you have a way to seek out the herald, or any other divine representatives from the heavens? We would really like the chance to hear heaven's side of things, and confirm that the deal includes Nev choosing the warlock. If she has, it's her choice. But we don't want to be swindled, especially if it involves putting on a cursed necklace."
He'd like to check to see who is listening/watching from the other parts of the temple (perception: 13) as well.

Yup
In response to Gash, the minotaur says, "Are you dense? I've said that you need to make your decision now. It seems that you have."
He raises his staff and begins to chant in low, hushed tones.
"Indeed I am." Gash side steps to make sure everyone is within 10ft of him. "Friend, keep and eye on them." Gash whispers.
He then uses the Helm of Teleportation to bring them back to the gates where they first arrived.

Gash throws off the bag of holding and starts to riffle through it but being in such a panic he can't focus on what he's actually looking for.

Dog immediately grabs a healing potion and feeds it to her gently as soon as he has an action.
Gentoa opens her eyes and smiles at Dog. Her wounds un-bruise and bones mend almost instantly. "Woof!" she says.
