Urgog roars in pain as the beam slams into his leg. He looks at the Warlock then down at the kid on the ground. "A friend of yours?" He looks back at the warlock and growls out, "If you are a thief like this one, and part of his group, we may have a problem. Otherwise know that this one, " he gestures to the kid on the ground " stole that pack from me while I rested after getting out of a cursed place. I tracked him down and they went to attack me. "  He readys himself abit as he looks at the warlock, waiting for a reply, keeping an eye on the kid as well.

Nixus stands up and sighs. "A thief I am not. Baelar is my name. If what you say is true then perhaps you should take into consideration why these lads attacked you. Regardless of their reasoning, thievery is illegal, but not punishable by acts such as this." He gestures to the body of the slain villager. "You've clearly out-classed them, was it necessary to slaughter them, or was that simply for your own entertainment?"

Shrugs at Baelar. "They attacked. Mother Wolf raised us to show dominance when provoked. I did not realize how weak they were. As I told them, I did not want to kill them."

Nixus sighs as he realizes the Bugbear's foolish ways are simply instinctual.

"I see. I cannot blame you for defending your property. But you must atone for what you've done. There is a graveyard nearby, you will help me bury this lad."  He says as he goes to patch up the body of the deceased. After a few moments of stitching up his body with the rope from his pack he kneels down and picks up the body. He holds out the body towards the bugbear.

"You carry him. This is your doing."

The boy who stole from Urgog gets healed, and decides to take the opportunity to dash away as his dead friend is being hog-tied. He doesn't take Urgog's backpack as it still rests in the mud.

Urgog grunts but moves to the living kid and grabs his pack from him. He looks through the pack to see what the kids had made off with. He rummages around a moment them moves over and grabs the scimitar. He looks at the kid and growls. "Go." He puts the pack on and slips the Scimitar into his belt on one side and the short sword on the other and the axe back in its loop. Looking at the half he he grunts. "Should leave him to lie where he fell." He shrugs again and grabs the body in one massive hand. "Lead the way, elf."

Upon searching through his backpack, he sees that his rations, waterskin, and herbalism kit was stolen by the villagers that fled originally.

Baelar and Urgog grab the rope and prepare to drag the corpse. However, much to their surprise, they begin to hear moaning. They glance down to the body, to see that his skin now appears to be rotting and wilting, and his eyes are wide open. The kid had turned into a zombie, and begins to squirm while being tied by the ropes.

Strength (Athletics) check to break from the ropes: 20

The zombie stands up after breaking free from the ropes, and stares at Urgog and Baelar with a hint of bloodlust.

Urgog and Baelar will be the first to react. What do they do in response to the teenager becoming a zombie and breaking out of the ropes?

"Ah shit, here we go again."

Nixus instinctively takes a few steps backwards and casts Sacred Flame on the Zombie.

He must make a dexterity save throw (DC 13) or take 7 Radiant Damage.

Urgog wrinkles his nose at the zombie and looks at the warlock, "Guess you want to talk to it first? Any laws against just killing it? Cause I am about to break them." with that he draws the scimitar and  shortsword and slashes at the zombie with the short sword after stepping to the right to flank him.

He brings the scimitar downward at the zombies head.

Zombie's Dexterity Saving Throw: 17

The flame descends upon the zombie and scorches its clothes. The flesh of the zombie doesn't seem to be charred from the spell. Urgog gets distracted by the flame, which causes him to miss his first strike. With his off-hand attack, he was able to land a blow onto the zombie.

Constitution check for the zombie: 15

Urgog slashes the scimitar into the zombies leg, and cleaves the leg from his pelvis. The zombie struggles to maintain balance on one leg as his leg falls to the muddy ground.

It's now the zombie's turn.

The zombie hops forth on his single leg, and goes to make multiple attacks against Urgog.

Urgog raises his shortsword to block the bite attack. The zombie swipes into his exposed abdomen with his claw attack. Urgog deflects the second claw attack with his elbow.

It's now Baelar and Urgog's turn.

Nixus once again flings his wand towards the zombie with a powerful stroke. He casts Eldritch Blast  towards the monster.

Urgog roars at the zombie. He lashes out in a horizontal slash with the short sword.

He spins the scimitar upward at the zombies arm.

The zombie gets pelted by the eldtrich blast, and it stumbles to the side upon impact.

Dexterity (Acrobatics) check to see if he can remain on his single leg: 18

Despite the powerful blast, the zombie remains balanced on its only leg. The severed leg flails on the ground like a fish out of water. Urgog strikes the zombie with his short sword, and cleaves one of the zombie's arms off. The shock factor of lacerating its arm causes him to miss his off-hand attack.

It's now the zombie's turn.

The zombie steps forth, pursuing Baelar. He's still within Urgog's reach so he doesn't provoke an opportunity attack. The zombie hops to Baelar and will make a bite and claw attack. The severed arm that's flopping on the ground swipes its claws at Urgog's feet.

Urgog squints down at his feet as he sees the severed arm attempting to claw his toes. Baelar gets taken by surprise as the zombie bites and claws him.

It's now their turn.

Nixus winces as the zombie gnaws into him. He reers his wand backwards and flings it directly into the face of the Zombie. "By Axio's power, you will perish today." He once again casts Eldritch Blast

Stepping behind the zombie, Urgog takes both weapons and impales it through the back.

Upon having its leg and armed severed, the zombie is pelted with Eldritch Blast, which shatters its bones. Urgog cleaves off it's other arm, and then decapitates the zombie. The zombie has been slain and its body parts flop onto the muddy ground.

"So much for burying him. At least we could end his misery quickly" Nixus says as he wipes off the blood from his wounds.

Urgog grunts and leans down to wipe the blades of his weapons on the zombie's clothes before putting them back in his belt. He stands again and looks around.

Urgog turns to the warlock. "Do you know where is the nearest items shop? They took my rations and some other stuff. I need to restock then find work to make a few gold. That cursed house cost me alot already and there was not any reward."

In the brief time Nixus has spent in the Village of Barovia, he knows that adventuring gear is typically sold at Bildrath's Mercantile. Since it's almost 3 am, the shop won't be open. The two may want to find a place to rest till later in the morning when the shop will be open.
