Kylara, it's rare to find poisons in the wild that can easily be used to create oils that would poison an enemy in battle or be useful in other circumstances. The challenge is always to keep the poison live, as they will often break down quickly and become harmless. Your training focused on creation of remedies and healing potions; you have proficiency with your herbalism kit. There's some commonality with poison-making, but it is a separate craft. You would need a Poisoner's Kit, and would be more skilled in its use than most people, but less than someone who had trained with it properly.
I plan on making sleeping poisons for putting into someone's drink ect. for possible future quests, and I plan on getting a Poisoner's Kit when I can afford one, if I have to have a proficiency with it, can't it be learned in the future (I think it is like 500gp and the rate of 2gp a day) I saw something like it earlier.
Also did I happen to find anything useful for healing?
(I think we are going to stop and go inside to tell them that we brought provisions from Neverwinter unless anyone wants to do something else )
That was my plan. After that I was going to ask about rumors of goblins at the provisionnplace and tavern. Maybe somebody knows where the hideout Is at.
Kylara follows, to buy supplies as well, looking around as she enters to view all of the wares available to purchase. (what does she see that is available?)
Kylara and Soron both enter the shop. Inside is a large wooden room, with shelves packed high with goods of all sorts - you see bedrolls, ropes, tents, backpacks, and a variety of tools. A long wooden counter runs across the middle, with more expensive items on the far side. Standing at the counter is a human man, lean and balding, perhaps fifty years old. He greets you as you enter. Travellers. Welcome, welcome. My name is Elmar Barthen, owner of Barthen's Provisions. How can I help you today?
You see behind him, stacking goods on the shelves, two young human men, probably in their early twenties. They look at you curiously, but continue with their work.
Ah yes, Gundren's delivery. Splendid. Everything is outside? Elmar opens a latch in the counter and steps through, then to the doorway. He looks outside and frowns. Gundren not with you, Master Soron? I was expecting him to come with the goods. Or before, even.
Ummm.... here's thing... on the way here we found 2 dead horses and we were ambushed by goblins... we think that Gundren and Sildar were ambushed too ... we found some marks but we were running low on supplies and we had to finish the delivery. I think all of us, or at least i ,will go back and search for them. And yes, the mining supplies are in the cart outside.
Also, does Soron know what race Elmar is? (just curious)
I of course will also be accompanying you Soron, and I think the others are concerned for Gundar's safety. I need to buy some supplies, and we also need the payment of 50gp so we can restock to see if we can assist our employer. Kylara turns to talk to one of the human workers and goes over the list of goods she wishes to purchase from him.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
While kylara and Soron are finishing the delivery. Demetrio stands by the cart waiting but also looking around at his surroundings. He is trying to find the tavern. Does he find one within sight?
perception12( just in case you need a Roll for it)
Barthen looks horrified at your words. Gundren taken? That's terrible news. Gods preserve us. You think you can follow? Please do, Gundren is a good dwarf. He frowns. I suppose Sildar was his contact in Neverwinter, but I don't know the man myself. Ah, I wish Gundren's brothers were here; they're due back in town in a few days and would surely help.
He pauses a moment, and then seems to remember something you said.
Payment, of course. Yes. Ander, hold the fort for a moment. He walks outside and greets the others in the party. Good day, good day. Terrible news, I hear. I'm Elmar, I'll take delivery of everything. He inspects the goods on the back of the cart, and seems satisfied. Yes, of course, everything seems in order. Come inside, and we'll settle up. Ander, Thistle! he calls as the enters the shop again. The two young men who work for him come running out. Take the cart round the back and offload. And quick about it, Elmar instructs them. The two men get to work moving the cart.
Soron, you can recognise that Elmar and his two assistants are all human.
Demetrio, there is what appears to be a tavern just a few buildings down the road on the left. There's a sign reading Stonehill Tavern hanging outside it.
Kylara, the young assistant starts to listen to your shopping requests but is very quickly called away by his employer. Sorry, miss, he says as he runs off. Talk to Barthen.
Kylara addresses Barthen I wish to purchase what is on this list before we depart to find Gundren. Can you also direct me to someone that can do some custom leather binding for me, it does not need to be fancy, only good quality that will last?
Demetrio slowly looks at Elmar Barthen, walks up to the counter and glances around the shop. Then he starts speaking with Barthen.
So provision shop, eh? So everything here is for sale then. Right?
I look around me. Glancing at items around the store.
oh! One more thing before I forget.... surely you must have heard rumors of these goblins and maybe, just maybe you might know where they dwell? Any help would be much appreciated.
Demetrio pauses for a minute apparently thinking
And then he attempts to persuade him by saying And I mean any help too. Even provisions you might be able to supply to assist us in erasing your apparent goblin problem. Surely we haven’t been their first victims and dead customers spend no money my good fellow.
Aand Then he stares at Barthen waiting for any reply giving him to think about the obvious fact of goblins can’t be good for business.
Kylara, make a nature check on the subject of poisons.
Soron, there isn't really a lot to see beyond what Demetrio saw, but later on in the day, Odinn is able to make out the village of Phandalin, a small settlement of around fifty houses, seemingly built amid some ruins of an earlier settlement.
The cart winds its way up the trial, which is not well used but is safe and easy to navigate. You are climbing hills, but the slope is not too steep, and Phandalin, when you finally reach it, is not so high as you might have expected.
You enter the small town in the middle of the afternoon; there's no-one on the streets at the moment, at least not that you can see. You are coming from the north, along what might pass for the main street of the town. Up ahead, it appears that the street opens into a square perhaps, some sort of large area. As you go, you notice that a shop on the left side of the road has a wooden sign nailed to the wall, reading 'Barthen's Provisions'. The shop door is open.
Also did I ever find anything? I did roll very good for this, so that I can use the herbs to make medicine and teas.
Barthen looks at Kylara, a little surprised. Goodness, well, yes, we have most of what's on this list. But let me see to your payment first, if that's okay. He crouches down and retrieves a box, which he unlocks and opens, retrieving a small bag. Fifty gold pieces, ten each, for successful delivery of the goods. He hands the money to Kylara.
To Demetrio, he says, Why yes, pretty much everything you see is for sale. Let me know if you'd like to buy anything.
He frowns at your next words. Goblins? Well, I mean, not really. They're a nuisance of course but they don't really come near to town, and I don't think there are any tribes settled around here. If you were ambushed by goblins, that's very unusual, at least in these parts. Still, the roads have been getting dangerous these days. I know a few people in town expecting deliveries that haven't shown up. He pales. I hope nothing bad has happened to those folks. So, anyway, you are most welcome to purchase anything you see here. He smiles, and returns the box to below the counter.

You halt the cart in front of what appears to be 'Barthen's Provisions'.
What will you do next?
