Do you see another way in on the map? If not then what choice do we have but to carry on swiftly? We have tried to lure goblins out and they have ran away like cowards. I think that pushing forward is the only way at the moment.

One way is all the more reason to go slowly. Try to avoid the ambush that is waiting, if our enemy has any tactical ability. But if you want to take point. . . .

Alten makes an 'after you' sweeping gesture.

I'm more concerned with keeping us alive than making a speed run.

Everything seems clear until Ungrim gets to the ruined library. The broken bookcases are all piled together to from a barrier preventing entrance into the room...

"I can go ahead and check for traps that might be laid," Rees offers. "But it seems more like they wanted to slow us down. It could be that the wizard and the wand are trying to escape while we bicker and clear rocks."  

Always possible.

The question is if they want to see us down then what do they gain with additional time? If your enemy needs something you must deny it. Talien moves behind Rees and says to her. Lets be quick Rees. I will assist you in looking for traps.

Quick and careful are typically a sliding scale that require careful balance. I would rather err on the side of careful.

"I think I might be stealthier by myself, Talien. No offense but you're a little bit, uh, big and clunky. Give me just a minute, I'll scout ahead and check for traps and then we can keep going. Quick enough to keep you happy, careful enough for Alten, and without bickering for Grom. Shake, I don't actually know you or what you like yet so....just... we'll talk later."

You manage to find a hole in makeshift bulwark made of bookshelves and peer through quiet as a mouse. You see in the middle of the room are four hobgoblins tearing pages out of books and tossing them into a small makeshift campfire...

They don't seem to notice you, but aren't saying much between them.

Moving back to the group, Rees will relay what she saw. "They're destroying books, burning pages. It seems unnecessarily dramatic to tear out the pages and then throw them in the fire instead of just throwing the whole book in, but that's what they're doing. Should we go stop them? I don't really care about books." 

Well, I doubt they're going to let us past. Let's go.

Shake considers the situation briefly. "If you trust me then I may be able to clear those Hobgoblins out of the library for a time. It would just be a temporary distraction, but it may buy us enough time to clear the debris out of the way and avoid being ambushed. Perhaps we would even have time to prepare an ambush of our own. What do you say?"

 What's the idea?

Shake looks at Alten, "I am a very skilled illusionist and voice thrower. Perhaps I could make them think that I was not trapped by their blockade and lead them out of the library in another direction."

Hobs are in 51.. they've pushed all the bookshelves to the entrance between 51 and 50. PCs are in the 48 shaped like a "T" on its side.

We ultimately need to go east and south (towards 54). I see three good possibilities and a fourth not-so-good one.

1. Barricade the West and Southwest doors in  Room 49 North to keep them from coming up behind us
2. Or do just go kill them quickly in 51
3. Try to draw them out and ambush them in 52 or 49
4. (the not-so-good option), just go on to 54 and hope they stay busy destroying stuff

Option 2 or 3 Alten. Enemies to my back is not an enjoyable thought.

Then we need to hit them hard and fast. Any objections or alternate ideas Rees, Shake?
