As Darrimus approaches the Mead Mansion he see that from the outside it looks delightful, modest and rustic. Clay bricks and intricate wooden carvings make up most of the building's outer structure. It's tough to see through the darkened windows, but the entertained voices from within can be felt outside.
As you enter the tavern through the thick, metal door, you're welcomed by a feeling of comfort and laughing voices. The bartender is working hard, but still manages to welcome you with a wave.
It's as alluring inside as it is on the outside. Wooden beams support the upper floor and the chandeliers attached to them. The walls are overflowing with signatures and written messages, undoubtedly from happy customers..
The tavern itself is packed. Workers seem to be the primary clientele here, which could be seen as a bad sign, though you're sure it's not. Several long tables are occupied by, what must be seperate groups who have bonded over great food and conversation. The other, smaller tables are also occupied by people who are singing and dancing, occassionaly pulling an unsuspecting waitress amidst their dancing group. Even most of the stools at the bar are occupied, though nobody seems to mind more company.
You did hear rumors about this tavern, supposedly it's famous for something, but you can't remember what for. Though judging by the music and how many people are dancing, it must be the live band who just started playing. You and Moran manage to find a seat easily however as you wait to grab the bartender’s attention.
Darrimus waves the bartender over and will order a mug of ale and whatever special they have for food.(Let me know cost)
Darrimus will also tip the bartender a silver after he takes takes the order and smile and say in a gruff voice(Think Sam Elliot).
"Silver for your thoughts, friend?" Darrimus says with a smile. "We've been travelin' for some time and ain't really had many conversations besides with each other. Is it always this excitin' in here or has that duelin' spectacle we saw earlier got all these fine folks riled up?"
OOC: Let me know if you need Deception check as I am not sure.
Darrimus flags over the bar-maiden. She has blonde, oily hair slightly reveals a round, lived-in face. Squinting black eyes she looks at you and says "What can I do for ya?" in a soft voice. Darrimus asks for a mug of ale and the special of the day. She replies "Ah, we only do mead here doll at the Mead Mansion, could I interest ya in our mead? And the special is the meat pie. Quite delicious if I do say so myself. The both would be 3sp but is the best in town!"
Darrimus ponders and says "Yes, that sounds delicious" with a wink. "Silver for your thoughts, friend?" Darrimus says with a smile. "We've been travelin' for some time and ain't really had many conversations besides with each other. Is it always this excitin' in here or has that duelin' spectacle we saw earlier got all these fine folks riled up?"
The bar-maiden replies "A bit more crazy that usual, but this place is always excitin' see that bard over there? He is a favorite 'round here. Always drawing in the crowds!"
"Ah! I appreciate you letting me know. I wonder if he'll write a song about those duels today! It sure was a sight to see."Darrimus hands her a total of 7 Silver Pieces for his and Moran meal and her tip."Before we get back on the road I feel like meetin' some new folk and having a good time. Any regulars in here you're fond of being around?"
"Oh I say the nicest of the bunch is Mr. Caden over there. He is always extra kind to us here. Careful though, he loves his dice games! So if you need a favor be ready to play. Now let me get these orders in, I'll be back shortly with your mead." As she says this, she turns and walks back to behind the bar.
Darrimus turns to Moran gives him a wink and says, "Keep an eye out fer any thing interestin'. I'm goin' to talk to this Mr. Caden."
Darrimus will walk over to Mr. Caden and turn over his palm showing 3 silver pieces. Darrimus will then smile and say.
"Greetins, sir! I was talking to that sweet bar maid and she said you was a bit of a gamblin' man. I haven't got to play in too many tendays and this silver is burnin' a hole right in my ol' pocket. You have time for a dice game or two?"
As you approach Caden, you notice he has brown, short hair that hangs over a round, slightly menacing face. Smart green eyes, set seductively within their sockets, watch enthusiastically as you come over to him. He stands gracefully among others, despite his light frame. This is the face of Caden. There's something misleading about him, perhaps it's simply because he is too happy that you want to talk to him. But nonetheless, people seem to be enjoying his company.
As Darrimus offers to play a game of dice, an extra large grin emerges on his face. "3 silvers eh? We can start there. My rules though." He says with a chuckle. "The game is simple" as he pulls out two six-sided dice from his pocket "I roll these two dice. You call if the sum is even or odd. If you call right, you win. Otherwise.." he reaches down and jingles his coin purse on his belt *jing jing* "you make me richer."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Caden rolls the dice again and says "The dice, like fate, never lies. You try to control them but they always do what they want. I only gamble on things that don't try to cheat me. Everyone has been complaining to me about that dueling tournament today, but I know that first match was rigged. Why you never gamble on things with people!" Caden looks down at the dice.
Dice 1 6
Dice 2 1
Caden then smiles and says "Even though I am losing, at least I know it is fair."
"I see where yur comin' from. Ah! Let's give 'er another go then. I'll stick with bettin' the 6 silver pieces as we're startin' to get a lil' rich for my blood. I'm feeling a little EVEN this time."
Darrimus then says while waiting for the roll.
"We differ a lil' bit on our thinkin'. The only thing I like bettin' a decent size of gold on would be fightin' and duelin'. Just somethin' primal 'bout. I'm glad you told me about the possible fight fixin'. I like to be as certain as I can that things are fair so I'll probably be skippin' out on this one. Ya'll get a thieves guild or somethin' in these parts that would be behind the fixin'?"
Caden pauses for a second. Looks at Darrimus and says "You must definitely be a traveler. Ain't no thieves guild around here. At least not one dumb enough to mess with the nobles tournaments. You don't seem to understand that the tournament isn't about the fun and games. Sure sure that is how it appears, but its about 'dem nobles showing that they are better than us!" Caden voice gets a bit louder as he talks "'Dat's right and I am sick and tiRED OF-" mid-sentence the bar-maiden comes over and places her hand on Caden's shoulder and says "Dear Caden, please watch your tone, you are scaring some of customers." Turning towards Darrimus she says "Here is your mead. Next time you hop tables on me, I am not gonna come looking for ya. So if you want your meat pie you better not go 'nywhere."
Darrimus takes his mead and glances back Caden who lets out a sigh and says "Why can't it be fair." then rolls the dice
Dice 1 4
Dice 2 6
And with a smile on his face he pulls out 12 sp and hands it to Darrimus and says "Well you obviously convinced my dice to be cheatin' on me! Hah. At this rate I'll be broke by the mornin'. I guess that is how it goes. Excuse me, I am gonna grab some fresh air." Caden gets up and leaves the Mead Mansion, looking slightly redder in the face than when Darrimus first sat down.
Darrimus notices that the group of folks that were originally around Caden has dispersed into the crowd. Nobody seems too uncomfortable from the words that Caden said. "This must happen a lot" Darrimus thought as he continued to scan the room until he noticed eyes on him. And not discretely either. Someone was staring right at him, but Darrimus has not made eye contact yet.
Darrimus feels the hair on the back of his neck stand up. He runs through his options. He knows if he goes to Moran it will give away his colleagues position. Instead he slowly raises his head and his one exposed eye to meet the gaze of...
Darrimus smirks slightly knowing that his teacher sees right through his disguise. Darrimus takes a swig of mead and then keeping up his fake accent says
"Looks like I've got a few seats open and looks like you got somethin' on your mind, friend. Come let us swap tales!"
Darrimus motions to a seat close to him where they can talk privately.
Lieutenant Karolem stands up, finishes his drink, walks over to Darrimus. He puts his hand on Darrimus's shoulder, pulls him in close and says "Good job today and thanks for making my life a living hell. Just know that they will use anything they can against you. Prepare yourself." Karolem releases his grip on Darrimus and slowly walks towards the door.

Darrimus says, "Ha! We'll see about friend! The first will be odd I think."
Darrimus wants to watch Caden's hands intently for any sleight of hand.
Perception: 17
Caden says "And so we begin." He rolls the two dice. You do not notice any manipulation.
Dice 1 4
Dice 2 3
Caden looks at the dice then to you and says "Beginner's luck! Let's go again!"
"Works for me! Time to double! This time it'll be... odd again! Ha!"
Darrimus this time will casually say while waiting for the dice to roll/land.
"Dice the only type of gamblin' you do or just your favorite?"
Caden rolls the dice again and says "The dice, like fate, never lies. You try to control them but they always do what they want. I only gamble on things that don't try to cheat me.
