Mort twirls his hand and a mote of fire is formed and thrown at Kobold 2! The Kobold takes the full brunt of the blast for 6 damage and is defeated. The smell of burnt flesh fills the air.
Kronk easily side steps the desperate attack from the kobold and he misses wide. Finnious takes advantage of this and stabs his dagger deeply into the skull of the kobold. Kobold 1 is defeated.
Mort doesn't remember too much about the Forest of Silvalta. It must of been one of those classes he dozed though, but for the things he does remember, it is that the growth of the forest seems unnatural. The land that which it inhabits now was rumored to be a desert, but is now a thick forest.
Finnious turns to Mort and says "Aye aye. ONE drink for our dead friends over here! Ha Ha" Finnious reaches into his pack, takes out a sack, grabs a swig and hands it to Mort.
"But we can't daddle too long if we want to make Double Dice Deluxe tonight." affirmed Finnious
Mort takes a big swig treasuring the moment then hands the drink to kronk.
“Kobolds in this area...if we play our cards right, we may find more then just runes to sell.” Mort smiles at Finnious, mountains of gold twinkling deep within his eyes. “Find a kobolds lair and youll find more treasure and trinkets then kronks giant arms can carry.
Kronk takes a swig and turns to Mort and says "Me like treasure. Want extra coin for dice tonight." As he hands the jug back to Finnious. Finnious puts the jug back into his pack and says "Agreed Kronk. Now let's get on our way."
As the three make their way down the river, within a few minutes they come to a destroyed bridge. The stone pillars still remain tall in the water, but the flooring of the bridge has fallen long ago. Finnious turns to the group and says "We are almost there. North here and we will reach the ruins."
The trail that led to and from the Abagonda Ruins was slowly absorbed back into nature as grass, flowers and small shrubs reclaimed what they can as fast as they can. The wind gently sways the tall grasses in the abandoned gardens while wild bushes make their claim on every acre not taken by the grass. What was left of the stone buildings still stood sturdy in their frames. They were a little dirty, but if you only focused on the arches, you'd expect people to come out as if nothing had changed. Window panes hung perilously from their hinges and here and there drapes had been flung out by the wind.
Abagonda, once a sacred temple on the rise to a better future was now reclaimed by nature. The scratches of wood on stone and flowing of the nearby stream were the only sounds in these ruins now. They were disturbing noises in a disturbing environment. The once tranquil peace of mind the adventures had found just a few steps back, was now turned into a sense unease and dread. These ruins were truly an eerie sight. So many lives forgotten and whatever was left to show for it is slowly withering away as time goes on. But even though many buildings had found a new purpose there was just no way this temple's former self could ever be restored.
The small broken temple next to a wide stream marks the entrance to the catacombs where the runestone is to be found. Inside the broken temple lies a grand, timeworn room with a dislodged stone leading to a tight passage. As Finnious approaches the entrance, he lights up his torch which allows you to see broken vats and flasks, destroyed and devoured by time itself. These catacombs are covered in bat droppings, puddles of water and cobwebs. The three adventurers follow a small, twisted passage that leads them further down into a dank tunnel. Further ahead are two paths: one left and one right. Finnious turns to Mort and says “Alright, this is where the fun begins. Where shall we go?”
“Brrrr, this place gives me the creeps” mort said to himself shivering as he looked from left to right down the forked hallway.
“As for our path...” he said squatting down, drawing what looked like complicated and intricate geometric shapes into the dirt. Mort popped the residue covered finger into his mouth and swished it around thoughtfully before spitting it back out onto the temple floor.
“haha, right is always right, I guess??” he said cluelessly. “but maybe we can at least brighten things up...”
Mort placed a hand on his staff muttering an incantation casting the light cantrip. a brilliant sunshine yellow light emits from his staff.
As Kronk moves to the door and says "Okay time to open this!" and leans heavily into the door. The iron door opens easily and Kronk himself slightly off balanced dancing on one foot in the next room. He turns back to Mort and says "Well that was easy."
As Mort and Finnious move into the next room they see a small stream of water flows along a channel in the floor, and a toppled statue lies in the north side of the room. To the west lies an archway that leads to a passage way out of the room.

Mort looks around the room and doesn't see too much of interest outside of the broken statue and some water dropping. After a few moments though, he notices the sound of *clank-clank-clank* coming from the west archway. The sound is getting louder and closer with each clank.
“brace yourself, something is coming...” mort turned to kronk “why dont you wait in the center and greet our new friend. Finnious and i will wait on either side of the door in an attempt to hit him in the rear.” mort winks at Finnious.
before taking his position mort utters an incantuon and casts mage armor on himself.

The three adventurers were able to position themselves in ways where they get a free round with advantage.

“I love a good scruff,” Mort said drawing in a deep breath and exhaling with satisfaction. “This calls for celebration...whos got the wine?”

Finnious reluctantly agrees and the three move down the tight narrow passage way for a long distance until the reach an Iron Door

“alright kronk, lets see whats behind the door”
mort side steps behind kronk peeking over his massive shoulder at the door in front of them.
