"That's probably our magic signatures right there," Therne sighs. "I don't know much about religion, though, and I'm certainly not going to be able to get them down on my own, but I can come up when you're done and take a look anyway."

The chest is roughly 2 ft. wide. They both weigh roughly 30 lbs. each.
Abner begins methodically moving around and repairing parts of the floorboards. There is nothing to be done for the ceiling however. When he feels like the floor is more stable and willing to support others, he starts to make his way down the beam, when it suddenly cracks in the centre and throws Abner sprawling into the room below. The two halves of the beam crash into the desk in the room and destroy it, giving only the briefest of seconds for the others in the room to dodge out of the way.
Fall Damage:4 bludgeoning.

With the beam toppled, Therne is going to look around to see if there's another way up to the upper level room, including sizing her companions up to see if someone could get on someone else's shoulders.

[OoC]: The beam is toppled, but the ceiling is only 10 ft. tall. The grappling hook and rope are still affixed, so a climb up should be easy enough for anybody now that Abner has mended the floor (no check required to ascend).
[OOC: I thought the ceiling was 15 feet tall. I guess that was a different part of the house.]
Therne will go ahead and climb up the rope, then, to check everything out with Detect Magic. She will take an additional rope with her, so that if it looks safe/doable, she can tie the objects to the rope and they can be lowered down.

to Abner Sorry man, my help didn't help much. Good news, you made it easier for everyone else though. Thank you.
Red would also like to go up, leaving Redmane's sword, his fiddle and backpack behind, pack open so he could grab stuff with Mage Hand in case he needs a crowbar or pitons or soap
After you heal Master Abner, could you be ready to receive if we lower things down by rope to you, Brother?
Red will examine the area for symbols and traps - is it in honor of Sune, the goddess in the journals?

Brozak heads up the rope to the second storey to find the exquisite shrine that Abner described. He instantly recognises the religious symbols as those of the goddess Sune, deity of beauty. Red follows soon after, having a look around the upstairs but not finding anything of note. Therne, having finished recasting her ritual, follows up shortly after - which causes the floor to creak slightly. The magic aura that she detected previously is present here, and she can see a small glow emerging from within the chest with an appearance akin to that which necromancy exudes.
The objects look as though they can be lowered with care, using the spare rope that Therne brought with her.

Therne will report exactly where she sees the necromantic aura. "If possible, I would suggest using your Mage Hand and avoid touching the chest itself."

[OoC]: Correct. You also no longer sense conjuration, but could before climbing up to this floor.
Brozak, using his Bahamut-granted strength, gently lowers the shrine and chest in turn down to Red and Abner waiting in the study below.

Abner
Abner will mend what he can. If it appears to be helping, he'll recast it a few times to strengthen anything that might help support weight up there.
But eventually he'll carefully make his way back down, and let Therne have a turn. He gives her a bewildered smile. "See what you make of it!"
