Assuming that Vimak has told us about this ranger, Cirrus will follow his instructions, but is still going to try that ritual spell once we get going.
Once they are beyond the outskirts o the city, Cirrus puts his pipes to his lips and begins playing high notes at various lengths, imitating birdsong. For the next ten minutes as they are walking in a straight line, Cirrus is casting speak with animals as a ritual. He plans to attract a bird and try to ask if it knows about a big building in the mountains to the north of here. If the bird could lead them to it that would be great, but if not, directions will be fine.

It takes a while but eventually Cirrus finds just the right tune as the Ranger leads them through the woods at a brisk pace, guiding them easily through it all. Eventually the tune manages to catch the attention of a robin, who seems to be rocking to his own tempo. The robin looks at Cirrus confused initially, as he wasn't a bird, but soon Cirrus asks in common but the words flow out as a series of chirps and other similar noises. The bird responds in kind but it's words, to Cirrus alone sound like actual language. Castle? Castle what? Dont know what is. Cirrus goes on to describe more or less what his vision of a castle is Odd rock? Small mountain? the robin cocks it's head awkwardly.
Give food to help? Will help. it's head whips in a specific direction Is big fake hill rock, this way. it seemed to be the direction the ranger had been taking you all thus far. The Robin preparing to fly off in that same direction.
Vimak is very satisfied to see the ranger's direction confirmed by the bird. Cirrus, he thinks, is wise.
"Tell us about yourself, sir ranger," he says. "What is your name? How long have you been in Phandalin? What brought you to it?" He'll walk just behind the ranger. Vimak wants to be hospitable, but also attentive to the green woods around them.

The ranger looks to Vimak, saying as they went.. I don't have a name friend. Call me what you will. And I was only in Phandalin for a resupply, so I had only just arrived a few hours prior to our meeting and needed to head this way anyway. Was looking to replenish my arrows, and other supplies that are harder to make in the woods. I had some food at the inn, but I don't enjoy staying in 'civilization' for too long. Too clogged.. too loud.. What about you folks? Whats your tale?
Just up ahead of the group, even as the ranger and Vimak converse, 7 goblins are up ahead, skulking through the forest themselves. Noticing the group approaching... they all turn around....
10 - Bastille - 12 - Vimak - 21
4 - 22 - 16 - 14 - 9 - 5 - 17
Ranger: 13
As per new rules... Party is up first.
Edit: Also i no longer have access to my map maker so it'll have to be imagination now.
The goblins are in a 3 - 4 split, in a jagged half-circle 30 feet away
Bastille sees the goblins and takes a step forward. She says to the goblins, "Let us pass and we can both be on our merry way." She says sternly and hopes the goblins can speak common. Intimidation to try and convince the goblins to let the group pass without incident: 9
If Intimidation fails:
Bastille will say, "You wish to oppose us? Then it will be your last folly." and she will Bonus Action Wildshape into a Giant Spider
"Our story begin with a wagon," Vimak says. He charges the closest goblin, shield and Klarg's morningstar high. "Do you recognize this weapon, little ones," he says and attacks: 10 for 11 damage. "It belonged to one of your masters, a master we defeated!"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Cirrus now has personal experience with using a ranged weapon in close quarters (namely how hard it is to successfully hit), so he will pull out his rapier and shortsword and make an attack on one of the short bow goblins (obviously moving to get there). Rapier, 18 to hit, 10 damage. bonus action shortsword attack, 11 to hit, 1 damage.

Attack: 17 Damage: 9 - 5
Attack: 22 Damage: 10
The party rushes forward upon seeing the goblins, at this point more prepared than they used to be, and a lot less green. But the goblins are more ready than Vimak expects. It pretends to be afraid initially, only do dodge at the last second, the tiny sword whipping around to retaliate against Vimak.. Attack: 9 Damage: 8 slicing cleanly into Vimaks gut with surprising precision. At the same time, Bastille lunges forward, biting at the next nearest one, missing as she was still getting used to the form. That goblin lashes out as well.... Attack: 16 Damage: 8 landing another slice, cutting off one of Bastilles legs at the joint (no penalty.. flare..)
but even as it lands the slicing blow, the rangers arrow sings into the fight, hitting the goblin squarely in the torso. Cirrus comes in swinging with confidence, but perhaps too much, as he engages with one of the bow-goblins attempting to unleash a flurry, but in his haste, he overcompensates and both swings go wild. The goblin attempts to fire off a shot in retaliation Attack: 5 Damage: 3 but the wild swings hadn't been completely ineffective. As the goblin attempts to draw the string back, it snaps with a loud crack, lashing the goblin in the face 2, effectively disarming him in the short term. And blinding him permanently as the strings both as luck would have it lashed across his eyes, as he screamed in pain.
As the one goblin flails in agony, the other six get into action. All 3 of the remaining archers Disengage with their cunning action away from Cirrus who made himself the greatest threat currently, as they all split into different directions. All taking aim at the blue man.
Attack: 9 Damage: 8
Attack: 24 Damage: 10
Attack: 7 Damage: 3
Two missiles fly past cirrus head as his spinning hadn't quite stopped, but just as he catches himself, the final missile lodges itself deep into that area next to the crotch but inside the leg, within an inch of his jewels, just barely missing his treasure. (no penalty, just flare)
The other three look between the massive man, and the massive spider.. two of them deciding Vimak to be the more fearsome...
Attack: 12 Damage: 4
Attack: 16 Damage: 8
The first slice hitting Vimaks leg just before the armor was twisted to guard, but deflecting the followup strike.
Attack: 11 Damage: 4
Bastille was not as lucky as the attack from the one she had attempted to strike before sliced across one of her eyes.
Party is up, if an attack missed you remember the new DAOO rules. One reaction cost, before your actual turn.

(well I can't use the attack of opportunity since I'm wielding melee weapons.) Cirrus casts healing word on himself, healing for 4 points of healing. He's going to try and finish off the goblin in front of him. I know you didn't say he was prone or anything but it seems like he's pretty distracted (what with being in agony and all), just in case I'm going to roll with advantage and you can just ignore it if I'm being too greedy. 7 to hit w/ rapier (w/ adv.? 9), 9 damage. He will then shout "You're next!" looking at the Crotch Goblin, which is what we're going to call him until he dies.

Vimak was missed once, so he attacks that goblin: 8 for 12 damage. If that goblin is alive he will attack it again: 18 for 11 damage. If not he will attack the next goblin within range.
He will use Second Wind as his bonus action: 9.
Vimak twists the morningstar as he attacks with it, not sure he likes it. Feels like there is a bugbear hair between his hand and the grip. "The idea was to move the wagon to the city we've just left, but you know. Things got complicated," he says to the nameless ranger.
