"Well," Vimak says, "you hold one end of the rope. I'll hold the other, jump the stream, and then pull you across one at a time."
He thinks he has about ten feet to run toward the water and the stream is ten feet wide. "If I fall in and the water is too deep for me to stand in, I'll need the party's help to get back out. Should we try it?"
Gilari looks at the shadow of the bridge and in an lowered voice says "If we can't see anything on that bridge, I would be wary to cross under it. I'll take your lead Herman. I can be the rear guard, if you all want to cross first."
I'm gonna make an investigation check to see if the current is too strong for them to walk across without rope: 5. Cirrus does this by crouching by the river, taking out his dagger, and sticking the blade in the stream to feel how strong the current is (washing away any blood on his dagger in the process).
Alright, well... never mind then.
Cirrus whispers, but there is some excitement in his voice, "I think we should leave no stone unturned when looking for Gundren's supplies. Maybe we will be lucky and the second closest cavern to the entrance will have what we need and we can leave completely undetected?"
You can't drown someone with Create Water. If your lungs are containers than your bones are objects. Any Siege monster that attacks you deals double damage because it’s attacking your bones.
Herman will say to Cirrius, "Yeah, I wish it was that easy. Things are almost never that simple. I just want to check the cavern to make sure we don't get pincered by two goblin squads later."
Herman will also check to see if the river is too strong. He will take the glove from his left hand off, revealing unusually pale skin. He dips his fingers in the stream to see how strong the current is. Investigation: 6
If the stream can be walked across, Herman will do that. Otherwise he will use the rope. If he can't figure out whether it can be walked across or not, he will be on the safe side and use the rope.
(Sorry for the delayed post today, had one of those customers that feels that somehow their life story is a relevant part of the buying process.)
Several attempts are made to determine exactly how deep the water is or how strong the current is, depending on the situation. Despite the miserable checks, it's clear that at worst, the stream is ankle deep, and about as strong as an enraged barbarian baby fresh out of the womb and that likely the same applies to the rest of the stream, though there are some parts where the rock beneath it likely dips, and is a little faster but nothing that can't be easily overcame. (The stream power is equivalent do a DC 2 STR check)
So at worst, the group would get soggy boots attempting to cross.
((I'll be on for the rest of the night so I'll check this roughly every 30 minutes. Also, not going to lie, I was hoping one of you would attempt to jump over based on how the discussion was going, so I could comically describe that characters realization XD))
Cirrus also walks across the stream and attempts to climb this pile of rubble with his wolves in tow.
Cirrus' dex check: 19
Wolves' dex check: 11
If Cirrus fails his climbing check,
He will whisper to Herman and whoever else succeeded, "Well, it seems that I can't climb up. I will keep watch from here, and you let me know what you find. If you get into trouble, I suppose you can yell and I will try to get up there again? In the meantime, I will offer this if you want it." Cirrus then pulls out his candle and casts Prestidigitation to light the candle, offering it as a light source to the members of the party who could climb the rubble.
If the wolves fails their check and Cirrus succeeds,
Then Cirrus will look at them from the top of the pile and say "Both of you, stay here, alright? If any goblins come," and he casts Prestidigitation to create the image of a goblin in his hand, "then you growl or bark at them, and I will come right back, understand?" If they seem to obey this command, he will cast Prestidigitation to light his candle, offering it as a light source to the party, unless they want to keep their stealth.

This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
As Herman attempts to climb it, he gets partway up before the entire thing begins to collapse under his weight, the rubble only being able to support maybe 100LB max. Though he just barely manages to jump off and roll back. As Cirrus was about to make his was as well, seeing the debris coming down jumps back into the stream and avoids it. The wolf does much the same After a moment, the rubble settles, and beneath it, the ground looks more solid, and compact. Easier to climb if you wish to attempt it again.
And aye, was meaning to bring this up. Post not just what you do, but some potential outcomes, like Cirrus did. Think of it like this - The module is my blueprint. You, the players are the resources (hammer, nails, etc) that I use to build the world around you. The more resources I get from you, the more I can build at a time. Mainly I just dont want you all to feel like "Uh.. DM, We've been at the entrance to this cave for like 3 weeks now.."
So Here is a fleshed out example:
Ivanov see's he is in a room, the door behind him has shut, and seems to have became part of the wall. He see's the windows above him thanks to his passive perception catching the faint glint of light.. however, the windows are well over 40 feet above him. Looking around the room, he tries to see if there are hidden buttons, levers, etc (Investigation: 6) before looking once more. Taking out his hempen rope, and attaching a grappling hook to the end of it over the course of the next few minutes.
If I find any levers: Ivanov will try the lever, or button, etc to see if it does anything.
If I don't find anything, I will try to spot anything I can launch this rope and grappling hook onto to attempt to climb it and get out. (Athletics to toss rope: 16)
If I don't find either, I want to see if I can bash through where the door was I just came through. Attack: 19 Damage: 3
^ With the above, I can react and post more information at a time, and respond accordingly. If one of your potential actions doesn't cover a possible outcome, I can work with it from there, even using your hypotheticals to respond more. This isn't a complaint on my end, but it will help keep us going a bit more! To help everyone be able to see/do more, especially since some days I'm busy and only can get a single post out!
Herman decides to leave his backpack behind, tying his rope to it while tying the other end to his hand. With the extra weight gone, he will try to climb again (Acrobatics: 20). If he manages to climb up he will try to lay low in case something is up there. (Stealth: 10)
If he fails to climb up he will look to the party and ask if anyone else wants to give it a try. If he gets up and sees there is no threats up there, he will pull on the rope to get his backpack up.
Cirrus whispers to Herman, "Herman, Shall I provide some light? While I would normally avoid creating light while walking in the main path of the cave, I think that if this is a side cavern like the wolf den we passed, then the light from my candle shouldn't give away our position to anyone in the primary path." If Herman or anyone else gives the okay for Cirrus to do this, he will cast Prestidigitation to light his candle once he is five feet away from the pile of rubble.

Vimak crosses the stream. Having watched Herman and having seen the more solid ground under the loose rubble, he'll join Herman in trying to climb up the tunnel. Acrobatics: 4
Herman makes it up easily enough, Pulling his pack up after. Cirrus lights a candle not too far off, and being a bit overzealous in confidence with the stability of the area, attempts to climb up it, makes it partway up before the soil crumbles beneath the weight of his body and hyper motions in his attempt to get up, falling over, onto his back, landing Prone and taking 6 bludgeoning damage as the rocks from before dig in randomly to his flesh.
An alarmed squeal is heard off to the side, not long after Cirrus' Candlelight having caught the attention of the inattentive guard from the bridge, and there was nothing blocking it's vision of the light source that suddenly appeared. As Gilari (I assume) watches warily, hearing it shout
It cries out [Goblin] Doolf! Doolf ti! sredurtni!
Flood! Flood it! Intruders
Combat has not started, but you have 1 round equivalent to react before it does.
(OOC: My bad guys. I will be more careful in the future.)
Cirrus looks with panic on his face towards the sound of the goblish, then back at Vimak, "you said you had some rope right? throw some up here! Herman"(and Gilari if he makes it up)"and I will help you up!" I don't know if this is the help action on Vimak's next dex check to climb the rubble, or if it a combined strength check to pull him up, but the point is I am trying to help Vimak up. Hopefully Vimak can get up and help?

(There's no real way to 'help' someone climb when you'd have to 'climb' yourself if you weren't already up. However, you can help Herman hold the rope to 'help' him gain advantage on pulling Gilari and Vimak up. Soo Herman, you now have advantage on assisting both of the others getting up if you toss down a rope)

Herman will throw down an end of his rope to help the others climb up. He will also quickly look around to see if there is anywhere sturdy he can tie the other end of the rope to so that pulling the others up becomes easier. If he doesn't find anyplace to fasten the rope he will just pull it himself, hoping that his own strength combined with the weight of himself and his pack is enough to pull everyone up.
