If I had to guess I would say that we will go back into the woods and keep watch for another troop. I would attempt song of rest but I don't think any of us have been hurt enough to need it.
Then again, I can do it as many times as I want, so yeah, unless we're taking more than a short rest, 2 hp back for everyone.
You can't drown someone with Create Water. If your lungs are containers than your bones are objects. Any Siege monster that attacks you deals double damage because it’s attacking your bones.
3 hours pass and this time, it's a full contingent. Two Hobbs and 4 gobs, Marching in order. The two Goblins in the back banging wardrums in 1234, 1234,12,12,1234 fashion.
Everyone has the benefits of a short rest, but if any hit die were used in the last one, they have not recharged.
Vimak will find his other hand axe and hide the body of the goblin he almost had to chase down. He'll do so following Bastille example as closely as he can.
Then he lurks in the woods. He finds a spot from where he can watch the hobgoblins march. He follows until he is sure the troop is far enough from the castle that they can't be heard. Watching Bastille and Cirrus for nods of approval, he waits until the troop is within 30 ft. of the tree line, then charges them, aiming for the second hobgoblin: 7 for 8 damage with the morningstar.
Bastille, who is back in her elf form nods her approval to Vimak's idea of attacking the marching band.
OOC: A question to DM before I say what Bastille does: Are the goblins close enough to each other such that I can hit most, if not all of them with a Thunderwave or Ice Knife
So... how much space is there between each line? It sounds to me like all three will be caught in thunderwave if the space between each member of line is 5ft and space between each line is at most 10ft.
(OOC: I kinda also really wanna cast thunder wave but I want to save my last spell slot in case someone needs a heal.)
Cirrus is hiding behind the tree line. He will wait until his other two party members are engaged with the enemy, and then he will pull out his sending stone and whisper a message:
Apologies, couldn't talk before.
Laying siege to goblin castle.
Bastille is normally cold but lately she's been playful.
Not like a conniving Zhentarim at all.
then he will give bardic inspiration to Vimak,
For 10 minutes, Vimak can add 1d6 to one ability check, attack roll, or saving throw. This can be added after seeing the roll, but before knowing the outcome.

(Yeah, wanting to save a spell slot for healing is pretty understandable.)
Bastille runs up right next to the middle goblin of the line closest to her. She puts one of her arms to her back and with the other, she points the tip of her staff towards the Goblin's face. Then a sonic shock wave is launched from the staff and at the two lines of marching band.
Thunderwave: 11 Thunder Dmg. Make DC14 CON save for half damage. On fail, targets also get pushed back by 10ft.
OOC: The lines look like I can hit all 6 with Thunderwave.
Once the goblins are sufficiently shaken by the spell, Bastille wildshapes (BA) to a Dire wolf

Four of them go flying ten feet away into the side of the path, One hobb, and one Goblin remain standing, mostly, unphased. One of the goblins that remain upright, is one of the ones beating on the drum, and it seems his drumming has only intensified as everyone starts rushing out. The hobb drawing it's weapon as Vimak charges in. A combination of events occor, as he's charging, his foot slips on a patch of ice, causing him to tense in reaction, as one tends to do when losing their grip on the ground itself, and the slickness on the weapon... Vimak's weapon goes flying 15ft out before landing on the ground behind the conga line in a metallic clang, effectively disarming him in the immediate.
Cirrus see's this, and sings out to send magical inspiration into Vimak.
Who the fu... Ah I see. I see. Well the zhentarim are known for their deceit. She is likely playing a part to make you believe her to be good, so that when you find whatever it is you are looking for, she can slit your throat in your sleep and take it for herself. While I could be wrong.... Better to be wary unessecarily, than unessecarily dead. Where are you at anyway? Also, Keep reporting. The stunned goblins get back to their feet, drawing their weapons as Bastille shifts. The hobb, getting up as well to join the others. The other goblin drummer beating his tune a bit out of rythm now, but still assisting. They didn't draw any weapons, however, there seemed to be a charge in the air. And the goblins seemed more keen, and the hobbs more imposing.
The group surrounding Vimak, as despite the wolf being there, they wanted to assail the one who was obviously at a disadvantage, so they could then focus on the wolf threat.

(Does the voice on the other end sound like Halia? Would that require a check?)
Cirrus wonders if Halia knows that he can't respond until the next dawn.
Wanting to even things out, Cirrus also gives a bardic inspiration to Bastille,
"Toss a coin to the witch 'ere,
O valley of plenty, O valley of plenty"
Cirrus is worried about a lot: the two mighty hobgoblins, the goblins that are drumming, presumably to alert the castle, but possibly could be spell casters (maybe Cirrus doesn't know that). The fact that they're moving around means it'll be hard to hit them with his bolts. Thinking of the military lifestyle that hobgoblins seem to lead, Cirrus shouts while hidden in the forest, "That all you got, maggot? You couldn't fight your way out of a wet paper bag!" casting vicious mockery at the hob that Bastille didn't attack. It must make a DC 12 wisdom save or it takes 3 psychic damage and has disadvantage on the next attack roll it makes before the end of its next turn.
(how are the hobs dodging? they already used their actions to attack, unless they're rogues?)

Rather than going after the morningstar, Vimak draws his battle axe. He will start with the hobgoblin who hit him: 21 for 14 damage. He'll react to the attack by shrugging it off with Stone's Endurance: 13. Finally (OOC: Correct me if I'm wrong), Vimak has an attack of opportunity on one attacker who missed him. He will seek to bury his axe in the other hobgoblin's skull: 26 for 14.

Unfortunately, Bastilles attack can't quite penetrate the hobgoblins heavy armor. Her teeth clanging against it harshly but causing no damage before slipping off harmlessly as her jaws close. Cirrus' taunt however, seems to hit the one hob hard just as Vimaks attack crushes the other one next to him.. Immediately before vimak tosses his axe in roughly the same manner as his morningstar... it seeming humorously like the goliath was literally just throwing his weapons away.
The drummers continue their 'song AND dance' while the remaining hob, tries to recover. Knowing Cirrus had done it but also knowing turning his back might be a grave error... he strikes at Vimak, but the mockery echoes through his mind, causing him to miss. The other two goblins pause in their evasion to lash out at Vimak. Atleast one of the blades slicing across his calf before they both begin to maneuver around the large man to make it harder to hit them... These goblins and hobs seemed far more tactical than the ones they had met in Klargs cave.
