The group stalks the party for a ways, until they are nearly back on the road before unleashing their ambush. He throws his axe, but misjudges the distance just a bit, and the handaxe flies in between the group, landing with a soft thud in the snow in front of them. This manages to alert the group just in time as they all dive out of the way of the large wolf coming into their midst. Another bolt flies past the group, missing everyone, though almost hitting one of the goblins.
Surprise round is over.
Cirrus: 10 - Bastille - 20 - Vimak - 17
G 12 G 13 G 20 H 8
Enemies are up first. 12.3 vs 13
The hob, clearly the leader of the band, calls out some orders, and the goblins fall in line. Two of them moving to range, while the hobb and one of the gobs stay close. The goblin staying behind the hob. In goblin: There are more here, Kill their pet, fan out, find them all. They will learn the Cragmaw are unbeatable. The goblins rally their cries, and just before two missiles fly, Cirrus reveals himself, making sure he is known. One arrow now flying t him, while the other flies at bastille's flank.
@Bast: Attack: 23 Damage: 8
@Cirrus Attack: 12 Damage: 5
The hobb and the one by its leg both strike out at Bastille... the goblin poking out to be beside the Hobb
Hob: Attack: 18 Damage: 6 + 5 from Martial Advantage

Wolfstille manages to dodge the arrow but that leaves her open to the goblin and hobgoblin. She welps in pain from the cuts on her sides and then lashes out against the hobgoblin. She howls as if asking the party to focus on the leader.
Bite: 7 Dmg: 10 On hit make a DC13 STR save or be knocked Prone
(I feel like I have rarely rolled any attack over 10 on the d20. If this character dies to dice shenanigans, I'm going to specifically design a character to hit stuff out of spite for the dice.)
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(Unless I'm miscounting, I think Bastille is now down. the hob and gob dealt a total of 16 damage.)
After getting struck with an arrow cirrus immediately thinks that this was a bad idea, but seeing Bastille get hurt so much affirms that drawing attention from her was the right thing. Unfortunately, Cirrus doesn't see a way to effectively damage any of them with just his crossbow, so he is going to run at the hob and attack with his rapier and shortsword: 11 to hit, 3 damage; 18 to hit, 4 damage.
(I feel like none of of have rolled well this campaign. And of course the dice choose the attack with less damage to roll high on.)
You can't drown someone with Create Water. If your lungs are containers than your bones are objects. Any Siege monster that attacks you deals double damage because it’s attacking your bones.
Vimak spits into his left hand before twisting it around the handle of the morning star. He'll run up to the hobgoblin and greet it with an attack: 23 for 7.
OOC: Just happy to have connected! Now to get the damage up!

(nope, dire wolves have 30+ HP)
The hobb parries Cirrus' blow just as it dances out of the way of Bastilles bite, only to feel the bite of Cirrus' blade bite into it on the followup, sinking deep before being pulled back out. The hob laughing that it had been struck so You are weak fight... just as his head is sent sailing by Vimak's attack. The goblins look at eachother for a moment, but it seems they feel confident, being so close to their home territory. However, seeing Vimak now, all focus is on him as the Hobbs body collapses, headless to the ground.
All @ Vimak shortsword + 2 arrows.
Attack: 6 Damage: 3
Attack: 22 Damage: 4
Attack: 10 Damage: 7
And regardless of hits, the goblin in front of Vimak will .. of all things, start doing some form of capoera using the 'dodge' action (Racial) Can't hits me! Am too small for big guy!
the other two slinking deep into the tree line and snow covered shrubbery to 'hide' (1-21 2-7) (racial)
(yep! Gotta love being a moon druid and having like 60 backup HP from two wild shapes per short rest)
Wolfstille makes eye contact with Cirrus and then raises one leg to point to the trees where the goblins disappeared to. It's her way of conveying "Go after the hidden ones, they must not escape"
She helps Vimak take down the dancing goblin.
Bite: 15 (Dis: 25) Hit: 10 on hit, DC13 STR save or be knocked prone.
(It's been well established that we're well away from the castle, so this should work out better than last time)
First, he sheathes his short sword, then Cirrus would like to try to position himself in such a way that all three goblins are within a 15 ft. cube originating from me. If there is no way to get all three without getting his allies as well, then he will prioritize the two goblins Bastille pointed at, then cast thunderwave. Each goblin hit by it must make a DC 12 con save or take 11 and be pushed 10 ft. away from me. If they save they take half that damage and are not pushed.
If I have any movement remaining, then I will move towards the goblins, ideally close enough that if the one closer to the castle tries to run towards said castle, I will get an AoO on him. If he can do everything else except get that close, he may or may not sheath his rapier to reach to get his crossbow ready, depending on how far away the goblins are. And in his mind he will consider using his clockwork amulet on this next hit.
You can't drown someone with Create Water. If your lungs are containers than your bones are objects. Any Siege monster that attacks you deals double damage because it’s attacking your bones.
If the goblin closest to him is still standing, Vimak will attack it: 8 for 12 damage. If it survives the round, Vimak will stay close to it. It it does not survive the round, he will pursue the other goblins.
Bastille nearly misses the little shit, but manages to get her jaws on his arm when it accidentally moves back into the path of her jaws, and she capitalizes on it. The goblin falling dead, before it can even resist as its arm is torn out of it's socket, the sheer shock killing it. Cirrus, seeing that Bastille had the goblin handled, charges out to meet the other two. Without checking, he goes where he assumes the middle of the pair might just be.... It seems he misjudged the distance a bit, and only manages to catch one of them, the other having moved farther than he expected. The one that was hit letting out a cry. literally surviving by the barest of threads. Its cry revealing its position. The other one still hidden from sight. The noise sending most, if not all of the nearby snow on the trees tumbling down at once, luckily, they were far enough out that the castle itself couldn't hear them.
Vimak, Seeing thet the battle was almost one, charges in to finish off the goblin that revealed itself, but trips on a root, en route, making his attack bounce off one of the nearby tree's. showering them both with snow. The goblin that was barely alive see's its chance... and takes it.
Disengaging and then dashing, keeping it from being attacked as it fled back towards the castle moving a full 60 feet.
The remaining goblin choosing discretion, as it stays hidden, but its weapon is ready should anyone get close enough.
Cirrus has been mentally preparing for a goblin to run back to the castle this whole fight, he knows that if one of them alerts the rest of the keep, the three of them are done. Cirrus runs straight towards the goblin, trying to get as close as possible without Dashing, wielding his crossbow.
Cirrus activates his Clockwork Amulet. The soft ticking gets louder only to Cirrus' ears as every other sound gradually silences, allowing him to center himself. Cirrus' aim is true* firing at the goblin. 14 to hit, dealing (let's hope this is enough!) 3 points of damage.
"There's one still hiding in the bushes! Find it!"

Weird. I thought I posted my turn. Guess I didn't hit post?
Wolfstille moves forward into the forest, sniffing the ground to try and locate the last goblin, leaving the fleeing goblin to Vimak and Cirrius.
Action, Perception: 26 (adv from Dire Wolf's Keen hearing and smell: 7)
If the goblin attacks Bastille while she charges into the forest, and thus gives away his position, Bastille will attack him instead of doing the perception check.
Bite: 14 Dmg: 10 On hit DC13 STR save or be knocked prone.
Vimak dashes after the goblin trying to escape. He will run his entire 60 fit. He hopes that the damage Cirrus has done is enough, but wants to be as close as possible if not. He does try to be aware of the distance to the castle, but feels it is probably fairly far off.
Cirrus' attack lands just as Vimak makes his charge. The goblin falling face first into the snow, its last breath escaping when the goliath approaches. Bastille, manages to find the goblin though quite easily by it's scent, but, unfortunately, her large form gives her presence away, and the goblin dodges the strike, trying to smash her across the face (DAO) before making a double-dash for it (normal dash plus racial, 90 feet.)
Attack @ bastille: Attack: 8 Damage: 4
Party is up. The goblin will be somewhere between vimak/cirrus unless suffering 7+ damage but much closer to vimak.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
If the goblin double dashes that means Bastille should get an AoO since she was within 5ft of the goblin and it moved away from her reach without disengaging.
Wolfstille's AoO: 18 Dmg: 8
On her turn, Wolfstille tries to cut the Goblin off by dashing.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
While her teammates do... whatever. Wolfstille will pick up the dead goblin in her mouth and take it into the forest. Then she would drag the body of the hobgoblin into the forest as well. Her plan is to hide the bodies so that any other patrol doesn't immediately figure out what happened to this team.
(Well... not sure if this would count as being described well but I can say what Bastille is doing exactly.)
Bastille will drag or carry the corpses a bit deeper into the tree line and then she will use her wolf form to dig the snow and the earth enough to bury the corpses. She won't bury them as deep as a conventional grave, she will just bury them just enough to not be noticed easily. Then she would mildly disturb the ground to hide drag marks. Since it's just drag marks and Wolfstille is a large creature, just rolling and running around on the dirt like a big dog should disturb the ground enough to hide the drag marks.
I have a +6 to survival so that would turn my earlier 8 into a 12 since i rolled a 6 on the d20.
