"Well, well. If our sssweat barmaid lives up to Reghetyr's expectations, we will have a lof of preciousss info on that punny man. On our return to Olmkirk we shall deal with him."
"My preciousss Baron, he isss certainly powerful and influential, two traitsss Reghetyr respectsss. As to why mercenariesss, it is easier to deal with our deathsss than with local onesss. To many attachments. Mercenariesss he can dispose of, his men have familiesss in Olmkirk; a lot harder to cover those deathsss."
"Now, dear Oben, what do you think of his Mightinesss?"
(As I'm progressing my warlock to level 2, I notice now the Dark One's Blessing class feature. When I downed the Doppelganger, I gained 4 temp HP right? CHA mod == 3 + Warlock level == 1)
Oben looks around at the countryside as they are walking, taking care not to get so involved in the conversation that he can be taken unawares. The Baron. I think he is ambitious, expects results, and has little patience for failure. He smiles. All good traits in an employer, in my view - it means his servants will not be bumbling idiots who get us all killed. I look forward to a great deal of profit from this business. And of course, we must take care to make ourselves non-disposable to the Baron, no?
"Yes, yes my good Oben. We shall earn hisss trust and make him see our value. And through him, we shall find power and influnce." says Reghetyr, mostly talking to himself.
Reghetyr will then slow his pace and walk some 20 feet behind the wagon.
Eventually, he will approach Vesper and say: "Vesper darling, Reghetyr apologizes again for the shameful disssplay from lassst night. Reghetyr hopesss you understand that certain slightsss can make you lose your temper."
As you continue your journey towards the plateau, the road rapidly descends, eventually finely tapering into a dense twisting and turning pathway rife with foliage. Those who had studied the region would identify this as the forest buffer between the Ember Plateau and the wider Nedroatani realm. One of the guards turns to the party, before saying: "Oi! This place has been known to have quite the bandit problem, so we're both going to scout ahead. We'll come back in about ten minutes, and then return to make the rest of the trip."
Saltonstall's men then disappeared down the bending passageway, out of sight.
Those towards the front of the small convoy need to make a Perception check.

Inssol is also not a fan of the heat, leaning on his katana. Maybe a bit too theatrical. "Curse my gnomish stature! The sun gods are against us! Need! Water!"
Oh, to expand on my previous post, once you enter the aerial cover of the denser vegetation, the heat does drop several degrees, and the trees rustle with a thin breeze.

Without looking round, Oben pulls his waterskin from his belt and holds it out towards Inssol. They say priests and the like can summon water from nothing, gallons at a time. I've never seen it myself. He keeps his eyes warily on his surroundings.
"Then they are gods themselves!" He splashes his mask with water. "Truly the work of the divine." More splashing. "Ah! Much better!" He hands the waterskin back.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Reghetyr is wherever Vesper is, cause he was trying to chat with her. In case that is towards the front of the convoy: Perception check 19, but he is probably too busy trying to be social to notice anything.
All to Oben:

(Yes, and I'll also consider breakfast and the travel and such as a short rest, so everybody remember to add that to your sheet.)

In the long run, it probably works better if we try to blend the RP in with the story, and keep the story pace quite brisk. That's my view, at least.
I agree with SteveThaiBinh

Hi, this game seems to be very stop and start, but mostly stop. I can see that everyone is pretty active on the site - are we waiting for something?
@cornpuffbuddha are we still playing?
