Blaize, not knowing the group’s past or intentions, silently contemplates about philosophy in the background. He glares at the dazed scout and using his peripheral vision, trying to find any signs of lying or small twitches.
Fire bolt- Shoot a streaking ball of fire towards a foe and deal a measly 1d10 fire damage. Use eldritch blast instead.
Fireball - Drawing magic from your inner reserves, you unleash a devastating nuke that explodes in a circle, hitting multiple enemies, and burning them to a crisp with a godly amount of 8d6 fire damage. Make your DM’s fights look like garbage. It’s also a nice way of TPK your entire party and have them triggered at you for the rest of the week.

"Well, we might want to set up an ambuscade, some deadfalls for knocking the knights from there horses, maybe some punji traps for the men-at-arms." Aleister seems a bit delighted at the prospect. "A narrow approach path for the mounted targets, force them into a narrow front. Rig the deadfalls so that we trigger them when appropriate. Also, if possible, a place where we can drop some tree in front and behind, with us up a hillside difficult or impossible for a mounted charge as well as good concealment. Might be too much to hope for, but if we get this right, we'll nullify much of their combat power with the surprise."

Well that was a fun start to the day. My gym has been closed because of the virus so I went walking on the road, because I'm an old fart and exercise is important. I have some phobias about walking around the neighbourhood. It comes from being attacked by a dog and getting hit by a car over a 6 week period. Anyway, I'm doing my walk and have got about halfway done when it starts pouring rain, I'm about 2km from home. So I probably won't get COVID-19 but a cold is a real possibility.

Max "Knights love to charge you with lance. Pit trap?"
“Something like that, but that would only work if the men at arms did not spot the pit. But the best type of trap would depend on the terrain. Let’s see what we can find.” Aleister grins.
”Artistically drap some of these bodies along the way leading to the pit(s) as if a running battle took place. Tempt the bas’rds to follow carelessly, in fact put the second body just before the pit.”
Sarah looks at Blaize who seems lost and explains that the Portland 'Protection' Association was a bunch of slaving madmen who thought to grab power when the world was in anarchy. They had carved out a kingdom for themselves but were hungry for more.
"I gather their upper management came from SCA members. The others? Whatever scum that could murder their way to the top. We've had multiple encounters with them and relations between Portland and Yachats aren't good. Can you perhaps set up some of your traps along the pathway?" Sarah asks.
Looking bemusedly at the party members as they suggest ideas, Thomas says "Considering that we have NO clue as to the numbers of foes we are facing, would making any kind of stand be wise? We'd have to have a lot of enemies wiped out before they reached us, even with pit traps and what not? Let me send Gamliel aloft to see how far away they are, while we keep riding at full magical speed. They can't match our speed, especially of we also boost them further with Longstrider. No mortal horse could keep apace with us."
Depending on the responses, Thomas will ask Gamliel to take a high flight (400' altitude at least) and back track their route, reporting back once he spots the following group of enemies.
“Can you tell me the difference between a witch and a wizard?" "Sure, a wizard is what they call you when they want to hire you, and a witch is what they call you when they're getting ready to run you out of town.” SunWolf replied ― Barbara Hambly, The Witches of Wenshar
‘Anybody have spare ammunition or rope? Sad I didn’t stock up on supplies’
Blaize, sets up cordon of arrows and enchants 8 of his arrows and any other ammunition his allies may donate.
Current total of cordon of arrows: 8
He also casts the spell ‘snare’ and consumes 25 inches of his rope.’
Current total of snares: 1

Thomas shrugs "Considering how hard it was to get him to talk, he easily could have played us for suckers. Let's see what scouting gives us."

Your birdie does spot the PPA troops. There are 10 men on horse; two in chain armour and 8 in chain shirts.. You can outrun them so the question is do you want to fight or just leave them in your wake?
"I'm hesitant to leave foes at our back. This is not the first problem we've had with them. Let them stew longer and they'll come up with an ambush that works."
Blaize’s face light’s up when a brilliant idea flashes. ‘Why don’t we just set traps where we currently are, dig a few pit traps for example. When they get caught in our traps we would ambush them. Our traps would take down a few at most, making the combat situation more even and more fair. However, I’m just a lonely man isolated from society for years. I do not know if what humans have done in 5 years. I have not fought a creature that I would consider a challenge. I’m afraid my skills are a bit rusty. Im not too sure how powerful these soldiers are. I do not know if it would be safer to flee.’
‘If we’re staying here to ambush them, I’ll order my owl to stay post a mile from the direction their coming, to give us a warning when he spots them.’

If she can, Sarah will ask how many men might be sent to fight them and from what direction.
OOC: Yes, that was a charm spell.
A couple of knights and maybe 8 men-at-arms.

Edit: Ok what is it with my terrible dice rolls.

Traps magical and not would be very nice.

“I thought that there were two knights, if one could misuse the word, 8 men-at-arms?” Aleister said. “From the questions asked of the captive.”

“Maybe just leave traps to see if we can thin them out,” Aleister says. “Make it a running battle?”
