Rhanloi's Romp Through the Sword Coast

Seeing a smaller croc sneaking up behind him, Wakka turned to face it and slashed at it twice with his magical axe.

• Manfred's quick reaction spell completely misses the young crocodile 2 - luckily the wet marsh grass does not start a forest fire!
• Wakka makes two expert attacks on the young croc 2 near him, nearly killing the beast! (-17 hp)
• Both of Perkas' bolts slam into the giant crocodile. (-32 hp)
• The young crocs attack almost simultaneously - one biting Perkas (Attack: 21 Damage: 11) and the other retaliating against Wakka (Attack: 24 Damage: 17). (If you are hit, you are  grappled (escape DC 12). Until this grapple ends, you are restrained.)
• Penumbra hurls a fire bolt at the largest croc, but its tough hide deflects it. Droop quickly draws his short sword and moves closer to Perkas and the small croc 1 attacking her. He hits it once but the second strike glances off its hide. (-4 hp)
• The giant croc bites at Manfred (Attack: 27 Damage: 17) (If you are hit, you are grappled (escape DC 16). Until this grapple ends, the target is restrained) The giant creature also lashes its tail at Wakka (Attack: 9 Damage: 15) (If hit, make a DC 16 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.)

She nods to Droop in appreciation. 'Gotta take the big one out quick.' Perkas fires two more into the giant croc seeing it go for manny and wakka.

Bolt 1: To hit 20 / damage 12+4 =16

Bolt 2: To hit 23 / damage 14+2 =16

The little crocodile was quicker than Wakka expected and managed latch onto his leg and keep him rooted in place.  Seconds later, caught unawares, a large tail smacked him hard in his stomach and knocked down onto the marshy ground of the Mere.  Growling in frustration, Wakka lifted his hand and attempted to mentally shove the beast latched onto him off so that he could stand and fight!  

• Acrobatics check to resist Grapple/ Restrained: 10  
• STR Save to resist falling Prone: 8 (Nat 1!!!)
• Bonus Action: Telekinetic Shove (against the little croc): DC14 STR Save or it is pushed 5' away from him (which I believe would break being Grappled/ Restrained)
• Attack (with disadvantage because he is prone/ restrained): Hit- 18/ 21 Damage- 13 slashing
• Extra Attack (with disadvantage because he is prone/ restrained): Hit- 10/ 21 Damage- 12 slashing
  • (OOC: if the shove attempt is successful, Wakka is no longer prone/ restrained and no longer has disadvantage)

• Manfred...
• Perkas fires at disadvantage because she has a crocodile attacking her! (Disadv rolls: 19; 10) Her second shot misses...
• Wakka is restrained and knocked to the ground, in a dangerous position with a crocodile wrapped around him! He attempts to shove the creature away (DC14 Str: 10) but suffers 4 points of extra damage as the beast is forcibly shoved away while clamping down on the psi-fighter. Wakka then stands (Movement) and attacks the young crocodile, hitting it once and finishing the animal off! (young croc #2 dead!)

‘Let me go, let me go…..’ whispers Manfred, his voice slipping deep into the Crocodile’s psyche… 

• Manfred attempts to affect the giant crocodile's mind (DC14 Wis: 13)
• The young crocodile near Perkas attacks again (Attack: 20 Damage: 6)

Penumbra draws her two short swords and descends upon the largest croc stabbing at it's spine with both blades.

Sneak attack: 18

Off hand Attack: 26 Damage: 7

Rather than retreat she remains on the beast's back even if it survives her attack.

Droop glances at Perkas and grins. "You not gonna take down big one if I let little one get you." He continues his attack on the little croc.

Attack: 8 Damage: 6

Extra Attack: 17 Damage: 6

• Penumbra drops down on the giant crocodile and makes a savage attack on the unsuspecting animal.
• Droop matches his master's ferocity with two vicious attacks on the smaller crocodile.
• The giant croc lashes out again with mouth and tail, biting at the one on his back (Penumbra) and lashing at Droop with its tail. (Bite Attack: 14 Damage: 17 - If you are bitten, you are grappled (escape DC 16). Until this grapple ends, you are restrained) (Tail Attack: 9 Damage: 11 - If hit, make a DC 16 Strength saving throw or be knocked prone.)

Seeing Penumbra has unleashed a bit of fury on the large one she replies to Droop 'I think she's got him now.' And grabs her shortswords and takes 2 swipes at the young croc on its snout

Sword one: nat 20 to hit    damage: 3+6+3(bonus) =12

Sword 2: to hit 14   damage 9

Manfred tumbles to the ground, spat out by the giant crocodile in its desperate attempt to attack Penumbra…

‘That was a little too exciting…’ he mutters, before standing up and launching another fiery orb at the giant crocodile…

(11 to hit, 12 fire damage…)

’You’ve got this Pen!’ he shouts in encouragement… (1d8 bardic inspiration for Penumbra)

Perkas finishes off the younger croc, but Manfred's orb flies past the giant creature! Can Wakka or Penumbra finish it off?

Angry at himself and the crocs for the damage he's taken so far,  Wakka tromped towards the remaining beast and slashed down twice with his axe

• Attack: Hit- 26 Damage- 10 + 5 slashing and cold (using one charge of his axe)
• Extra Attack: Hit- 12 Damage- 11 slashing
• Bonus Action: Second Wind- 3 + 7 = 10HP healed

Wakka chops through the giant crocodile, removing its massive head from the rest of its body! (Combat over! Your character sheets accurately reflect thte damage/healing to this point: Manfred(-13) :: Wakka(-14) :: Perkas(-9) :: Penumbra(-0) :: Droop(-0) Any other actions? Do you wander off to the old keep Penumbra saw earlier, or stay on task and try to find the trail again? I'll need a survival check either way =)

(Failed horriblely) 

"Nice work. You guys ok?" Perkas whispers as she looks around to the others with hair matted in her eyes mud splashes covering her face.  She blinks, looks around to try and get herself oriented but with the ruckus she can't tell which way to go. 

"No." Wakka replied a bit petulantly as he attempted to wipe off all the gunk that he acquired while on his back.  "But I'll manage."  Looking to Perkas and the others, he then asked (with a bit of sarcasm at the end), "So shall we keep going?  I'd hate for us to have been attacked by damn crocidiles for nothing."  

(OOC: Wakka actually has 18 damage after the last fight:

• 4 from little croc
• 20 from big croc
• 4 from little croc when he force pushed it away
• 10 healing from Second Wind)  

Penumbra, still mounted on the dead beast's back and now covered in it's blood, looks at the group. "We should get some tame crocs that we can ride into battle! Can you imagine the looks on our enemies' faces when we charge in astride giant reptiles with gaping maws full of razor sharp teeth? That would be so cool. Oh! Then we could name our guild The Sword Coast Reptile Rangers!"

(Did we get a rest in after the water elementals? I've been so busy lately it's hard to keep track. If we did not then Penumbra really needs to rest.)

Perkas gives a little laugh at Penumbra as her thoughts were similarly aligned.

'I did think about trying to talk with the creature but my hunter instincts kicked in before I realized it.'

She claps wakka on the leg and casts a 2nd level cure wounds for 14 points of healing back. 'I don't want it to be for nothing either but I'll admit I got turned around and can't seem to pick up the path we were on. What about that building we saw?? Maybe get a rest in and maybe monitorany comingsand goings? '' 

Manfred rubs his rather sore bottom, and then pulls out a loose (giant) crocodile tooth. ‘Ouch! No wonder that was still hurting!’ he shoves the tooth into one of his pouches and looks around ‘I think a short rest to regroup and then continue on fresher would be a good idea…’

As soon as the fight is over Droop draws his short sword and gets to work on the tail of on of the smaller crocodiles. In short order he produces two large fillets of tail meat. The little goblin looks incredibly delighted. He wraps the meat up in cloth and hangs it from his bag. "Crocodile tail good meat."

"Really? They don't look very tasty." Penumbra says wiping the blood from her face.

(After looking back I see that we did get time for a rest, so Penumbra is actually ok but a short rest is still probably in order.)
