(Sorry!)As they head in, the sorcerer touches Tibi on the shoulder and says, "May the old ones guide your senses and actions..."(casting guidance on him) Once inside the structure, Kaelani again turns about, casting his innate senses to detect any celestial, fiend, or undead creature within 60 ft. He murmurs while looking about, something about Spice and conciousness...
You step off the porch and walk around the north side of the building to the back where you find a set of doors.
Entering the building you see the smashed remnants of fine furniture and the remains of stained-glass windows are strewn across this area.
Sections of one huge stained-glass window remain intact, enough so that its subject can still be made out. The window once portrayed Lathander standing amid fallen soldiers, holding his hands aloft as the spirits of the dead rise to stand at his side.
"Well somebody has done this place over well and truly" comments Tibi. "Looks like a bar in Luskan after the whalers have cashed their pay cheques!" He looks at the image of Lathander and continues "I don't know my gods that well - I leave them alone and hope they do the same to me - but I don't think that's Helm."He looks at the party and says "what do you reckon?"
"I failed my world religions class at the paladin academy...part of why I'm a sorcerer now..." Kaelani admits a little sheepishly. "Let's keep looking..." he suggests.
He will look behind the curtains on the curved wall (into area G4) before making sure the southern part of the building is clear (area G2).
The aasimar, reaching for a curtain to move it aside, stops mid-motion. Frozen in place, his eyes narrow and his nostrils flare. He gets the attention of the others by waving silently, then points to the enclosed area and makes a gruesome pantomime of an undead creature, followed by holding up all fingers of one hand. He slowly starts counting down, giving the others time to get into position and ready themselves for another battle.
After you get into position Kaelani whips the curtain open ready to confront the undead he senses.
Three curtained archways connect this chamber to the other areas of the chapel. Shattered wardrobes and dressing tables, as well as a number of smashed mirrors, suggest that this was once where priests prepared for their daily services. Spiral stairs leading down are guarded by two creatures with insectoid features. You recognize them as mezzoloths. Each one is armed with a wicked trident.
Near them stands another tall man
and from him the stench of undead is strong.
Just you are readying to move into the rooms and face off against the fiends, a cacophony erupts from below, and six creatures rush up the stairs: a fiendish giant scorpion trailed by five dretches. In response, the mezzoloths and the man ignore you completely, focusing all their attacks on the scorpion and the demons.
Kaelani, stays where he is at the entrance, watching the potential fight between undead, fiends, and demons. (Hold action until any of the creatures comes to threaten him or his colleagues...how many attack him determines which spell he uses!)
Tibi nonchalantly leans against the wall of the doorway ready to respond at the moment he or his party is attacked. He tuns to Kaelani "you're right Soibpa it ain't our fight - well at least not yet!"After watching the combatants he continues "five gold dragons says the dude in the fancy clothes will still be standing at the end?"
"That is a sucker's bet. That scorp and band of dretches don't stand a chance...I do hope they weaken the undead and his insectoid guards, though!" Kaelani replies.
You watch as the 2 insectoid creatures and the man engage the others that came up the stairs. Soon though they are able to beat back fiends as they push their way down the stairs. Silence fills the are again until you hear footsteps on the stairs and the man reappears. He is now alone.
He looks at you thoughtfully for a moment and then speaks.
"Demons from the pits of hell. They seek to overrun this place and destroy that which is holy. We must be vigilant against their incursions." He begins to expound on the demonic threat that must be defeated at all costs. "We must fight the demons whose chaos marks the end of all things!" he ends in a shout.
Kaelani looks at the undead man, finally at a loss for words. This is not at all what he expected! Why wasn't the creature expounding the gruesome ways it was going to eviscerate them, or how they, as mortals, must surrender to the irresistible pull of the grave and give up your foolish attempts to avoid a certain and impending fate... the moments tick by until, into the silence, the aasimar asks, "Who are you?"
"I am Gideon Lightward. Years ago, a wise and humble acolyte of Torm named Opallita the Devout wanted to speak directly to her god. Through decades of constant prayer in the crypts beneath the chapel, she created a direct link between the ossuary and the celestial essence of Torm, as her prayers made the chamber that she prayed in sensitive to psychic connections between mortals and higher powers.
When Elturel was drawn to Avernus, the link between the chamber and Torm was corrupted. This corruption was sensed by the demon lord Baphomet. Seizing upon that link, Baphomet used it as an anchor point to slowly and methodically send demons through to the city. Even now, the demon lord and his minions work to widen and strengthen the connection.
Helm, Torm, Tyr, Lathander, and their angelic servitors do nothing to prevent the demon armies from overturning this city. Only the devils aid in keeping the demons at bay.
An armed group of humans entered the ossuary level earlier. Since they were not demons, I allowed them to pass, but with demons now coming from that below, I can only assume that the humans are in league with the demons.
Who are you and why are you here? Are you with those men?"
As he begins to speak he starts fairly even but soon starts to sound more like a raving lunatic than a man of sound mind. At the end the anger is clear in his voice as he tells of those who went down earlier.
Who are you and why are you here? Are you with those men?"
Tibi waits until the human finishes his rant and then bowing with a flourish replies "Cracticus Tibicen, Decisionist - Baldurs Gate chapter of Acquistions Incoporated. These"pointing to the party members "are fellow members of the Chapter. The lady over there" pointing to Raya "is not a member of the Chapter but seems to have taken a fancy to us. And I know you're Gideon Lightward but what's that when its at home so to speak?" he asks.
"Gideon Lightward, we are not in league with demons or devils and seek only to protect the innocents here. I should have known - the portent signs indicated something occult and momentous! I know nothing of these other humans or how the demons came here, but it is safe to say tat we are here to destroy any that get in the way!"
He pauses for a moment, his brain finally processing something Gideon said at the beginning of this explanation/rant... "Did I hear you correctly...the entire city has been dragged into the first layer of the hells?!!?" Kaelani looks at the rest of the party and asks, "Did you know that? I was here in the city when the cataclysm occurred, but did not suspect we were physically transported somewhere! This is an ominous event..."

Tibi tosses the shortsword to Reya who deftly catches it. She then moves to attack the remaining shadow.
Attack: 11 Damage: 10
Attack: 24 Damage: Unable to parse dice roll.
This time the blade cuts nicely and a moment later the shadow is no more.
Combat over.
What's next? You are standing on the porch (G1)
"Right follow me gents" Tibi says as he leads the party towards the door into G3.

Kaelani looks about and his divine sense alerts him to the presence of undead behind the curtain he is about to look behind (into G4).

Instantly recognising the signals from his new companion, Drabash nods and smiles, making his way to the curtain, axes ready.
Tibi accompanies Drabash to the curtain with both his rapiers out.
