"Better safe than sorry!" - Bukowyr is glad that they have not come across another challenge, even though for the time being, yet keeping his instincts alert.

Investigation 18

Once the ritual is complete, Kai will also glance around the room for anything magical or just of interest. "Well... The mirror is fine. Let's see what else we have around here."

Perception: 17

(With detect magic for anything giving off an aura as well.) 

While Kayla seems to be more focused on the arcane, Kai glances carefully at the mirror and around it, she notices eyeballs among the berries carved in the mirror frame. And another entrance to the hallway that contains a set of stairs leading up.

Kai hums in thought. "Well there's this. Anything else that anyone found? Why are all the wood carvings and frames here surprisingly creepy up close?"

Kayla takes a closer look and grimaces.  This house certainly seemed to have a certain... theme.

"Huh, I hadn't noticed but that's just unpleasant."

Kai looks around the room for anything else of interest while Bukowyr does a more thorough investigation. If they do not find anything else,  she will move back to the original hallway. "I suppose we check the next room then?"

"If the eyes on the frame were due to any magical properties it would have been understandable. Now it is just something produced by a disturbed mind. Off to the next room."

Investigation 13

After carefully inspecting the door, both of you come to the conclusion that it's just closed without any kind of locks and no traps. 

After opening the door you can see a room with a crib covered with a hanging black shroud. 

But before you can step inside of the room a specter materializes in front of the crib and turns aggressively against you:

Kai, in an immediate panic of the spectre's aggression (whenever it is her turn), will quickly summon the aqua flames to her fingertips and throw it at the spectre.

"We've got another problem!"

"I knew it!" - Bukowyr grins, almost thrilled about the danger lurking behind this door, as it seems to be the case in most doors. It makes his blood rush intensely; it is glorious now, no more awkward or threatening. It is life as he has ever known...in a house.

Initiative 18

Again?  Well, it was a cursed house of some kind.  Kayla snarled and readied herself.  The whisper of excitement wasn't her own but she almost felt it as if it was.

Rolling Benito's Initiative - 19

Benito will rush in front of the specter and attack with his longsword -

Attack: 20 Damage: 11 plus divine smite if it hits 8

The specter's body barely slowed down the speed of Benito's sword - he felt how it ripped through some sort of ethereal fabric, but the slashing damage didn't do what he would've expected, the radiant explotion was able to deal full damage.

(ooc - Thank you for taking over! I wouldnt have done anything different! Only thing of note - I have the great weapon fighting feat. So for the next damage roll. 1's & 2's would get re-rolled)

Drawing his both scimitars, Bukowyr positions himself opposite of Benito to get the specter, glad and confident after noticing his giant companion did some damage to it. 

Attack 13 for 4 slashing damage

Attack  13 for 5 slashing damage

The combination of both Bukowyr's and Benito's attacks left the specter looking pretty rough, however it can barely keep afloat. It grabs Benito's head and place its mouth just an inch from Benito's, you can seen a withe-ish nebular thing coming out of him and the specter tries to eat whatever is escaping from the brave paladin.

CON Save: 5

(ooc - does tie go to the roller? If the tie goes to the specter.... I will be using Stone's Endurance which reduces damage by 1d12+2 in an effort to minimize the amount HP i lose from my MAX)

Watching with horror as the specter seems to draw something from Benito.  His soul?  Life?  Shuddering, Kayla aims at the specter, drawing again on her will to Hex the undead thing.
