Kurama, swinging blindly and a bit desperately, missing with his first attack. His astral arms, however, sweep toward the strange creature with their broad coverage, smashing into it and noticeably pissing it off.
Effort curses shuts her eyes, backing away from the battle, and then reaches out with her arms.
Cadmael's voice comes through to her as she aims. Aim for me, he instructs her, and she follows his pull, calling upon the dark eldritch energy within her.
Eldritch Blast (straight roll from help via Cadmael): 23 Force damage: 13
Cadmael's aim doesn't disappoint, as the blast strikes the basilisk in its side. It hisses and curls its tail around to protect its flank, but the damage has already been done.
Brask, you're up!
*Reminder to everyone to update your character sheets with your current HP. It's easy to forget, I know!
Shut your damned eyes, Brask shouts to everyone, but especially to Pip. Maul in his hand, he approaches the creature, not looking but trying his best to listen and hear even the slightest of movements. He hears something...
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Brask's maul smashes into the wall beside the basilisk.
Pip, notches an arrow and aims at where the creature was a few moments ago, hoping it is still there...
Attack: 22 Damage: 5 (aaand I forgot to roll with disadvantage: 23
The arrow scrapes off the side of the beast, scratching it a bit but not doing any real damage. Burik stubbornly charges at the creature, refusing to miss...
CON save: 10
...the basilisk can't turn its head fast enough to look at Burik, and the dwarf presses his hands into its scaly sides, casting Inflict Wounds.
Attack: 12 Damage: 22
At the last possible moment, the creature pushes off with its four left legs, putting just enough separation between itself and Burik that the necrotic energy explodes from his hands and quickly vanishes into the air around him.
Cadmael gives advantage to Kurama (Effort feel free to change this if you want).
The basilisk snaps at Burik this time, potentially aware of the harm he could have caused.
Attack: 7 Damage: 11 + 5 poison
Burik gets his shield up just in time as the razor-sharp teeth scrap against the metal. The dwarf grunts under the force of the attack, but holds his ground.
Keeping his eyes closed, Kurama hears Cadamel flying around near the creature. Using him as a sort of homing beacon, he'll launch a couple of strikes at where he thinks the creature still is.
With surprise. He doesn't know he's done it until he's done it, so he swings with as much strength as he can muster and it catches the basilisk as it was about to turn its gaze on him. The maul strikes the head and just crushes it to pulp. Bits of basilisk brain splatter across the ground and Brask's boots. He turns to look at the thing he has killed... what does he see?
As a single intact eye rolls away from the carnage, Brask surveys the shattered skull and splattered brain of this strange creature at his feet. The eight legs limply stretch out on the stone floor, with the long, sharpened spikes on its back and tail still casting long shadows against the walls. Its body and tail are thick, and its massive, clawed feet seem well fit for digging through hard substrate. You can guess that this thing had probably been tunneling through the mountain in some fashion.
"Nice hit!" Pip arrives at your side and surveys your work. He kicks at a piece of the skull.
Effort calls Cadmael back to her side, stroking the owl's head in thanks. She then looks over the carnage, wondering. "Are any parts of this beast usable? I wouldn't have the faintest idea of what to do with them, but I can't imagine that a creature with attacks this strong couldn't be harvested for its magical powers in some manner."
"I would think the eyes would be useful somehow."Kurama replies. As he does so he winces a bit in pain as he grabs for the wound on his side. "If its alright with everyone, I could use a short break to patch myself up and perhaps, if there's time, examine the remains."
Effort, you're immediately drawn to the remaining eye. While it sits there, motionless, pupil facing the wall, you can almost feel it trying to turn and look at you. There's a natural arcane energy pulsing outward from it. You suspect it could prove useful in the future. As for its nature, it seems to give off the same kind of odd aura that the winged creatures from outside the cave had. They all seem...almost familiar, but at the same time not of this world.

Kurama's attacks both strike true, finding purchase against the back of the basilisk. It cries out in pain or anger - maybe both.
Effort, you up.

Effort tries to track the basilisk by its cries of pain, grimacing in annoyance.
