Kurama races across the deck with impressive speed, striking at the final chain. He finally snaps half of a link, and with it weakened, Brask pulls apart the rest. The ship begins to slow, still turning from the momentum. Everything is quiet for a moment. The crew is on high alert, spinning the ballistas, watching over the sides of the boat, and otherwise preparing for the next attack.
After a tense thirty or forty seconds, you begin to hear some kind of banging against the side of the ship. One of the crew yells out. "F*cking fish-men!"
Up and over the side of the ship come blue-green skinned humanoids, with webbed feet, scaly skin, and small fins extending from their head and back. Their features are all...sharp, for lack of a better term, and they carry mostly crude spears and tridents made with driftwood. They wear bits of gray armor with hints of purple, but it seems to be mostly decorative. A few of them are heavier, with beads and shells dangling from belts. They carry clubbed staffs.
First there are four, then eight, then nearly twenty of these creatures scaling up both sides of the boat.
Group 1 initiative - 13
Group 2 initiative - 4
The four of you at the front of the boat are faced with eight of these creatures, plus one of the heavier ones. The crew at the back is faced with the same.
Initiative: Effort & Cadmael > Brask > Kurama > Crew > Group 1 > Pip > Group 2
Again, there are nine of these creatures attacking from the front of the boat where you four are standing. Effort is set back a bit, firing her blasts at the chains from a distance. The other three are right up front and about to clash with a lot of pointy driftwood and even more pointy teeth.
They seem to have eyes, and Effort seems to have little patience for shenanigans. Up goes the hypnotic pattern. "Attack the undistracted ones first!" she calls out loudly, for the benefit mostly of the crew, who have not seen her magics before, but also for Brask, who tends to get a bit carried away sometimes. After firing her spell, she looks for the best place to hide and remain unnoticable from the fray, keeping her distance. (Not literally hide, just go for cover)
(WIS DC 16or incapacitated)
Cadmael soars up just in time to pass by one of the tritons, giving Brask advantage on his initial swing.
The spell won't be able to affect the creatures the rest of the crew is fighting - they're split up between the front and back of the boat. You have nine in front of you at the front.
Perhaps stronger than before, and without discernible reason, Effort feels the power pulse out from within her in an incredible wave that washes over the attackers. They slow their movement, then begin looking around strangely. One, however, continues its charge. Effort takes a few steps back, putting some distance one of the smaller masts between herself and the creatures.
Brask absolutely obliterates the only coherent attacker as it moves toward him. With a sickening thud, the minotaur's swing sends the creature flying overboard with countless broken bones. Just for fun, he pummels one of the hypnotized enemies as well, leaving it living but severely injured. It looks around, somewhat confused and grasping its ribs.
Seeing that Effort and Brask seemed to have the situation handled on one side and unsure how well the sailors would fair, Kurama turned around and ran towards the other side of the boat. Allowing the energy inside of him to escape in a flash of energy, he moved towards one of the sea creatures and began to repel them as best as he could. "Do not let their numbers overwhelm us." Kurama told the sailors calmly as the energy whipped out and struck a nearby enemy.
Action: Attack (Hit 8 (Nat 1!!))
Extra Attack: (Hit 26/ 7 Force Damage)
Bonus Action: Activate Astral Self (1 Ki) (DC15 DEX save for any enemy within 10ft of Kurama or take 4 Force Damage)
Movement: Move as close to the crowd of enemies on the other side of the boat as possible.
Kurama, your adrenaline gets the better of you as you race across the boat again, slipping a bit and completely whiffing with your first attempted blow. You recover nicely, however, striking one of the creatures in the chest and knocking him back a bit. As a few of the others turn their attention toward you, you release the astral energy within yourself, ending a wave crashing over them.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Two of them, including the first creature you struck, are knocked back. The third stands resolute and aims his trident at you. He lunges with it, following quickly by biting at your arm.
Trident Attack: 19 Damage: 2
Bite Attack: 4 Damage: 2
The other two nearest to you regain their footing and follow with the same attacks:

Pip turns away from the hypnotized group and aims his bow toward the other side.
Attack: 23 Damage: 4
Unfortunately the arrow flies over their heads and into the ocean.
I'm going to roll a bunch of stuff for the crew vs the other group. It's tough for you all to really keep track of what is going on in this somewhat large scale fight.

With a wider vantage point, Effort, you do notice one of the crew get cut down before they overtake two of the creatures and kill them. You see the shorter, heavier creature in the back standing still for a moment, slowly lifting up her hands and then thrusting them upward. As she does this, you hear an enormous splash from behind you. You turn to find a shark barely make it over the railing of the boat, thrashing around and knocking into some of the creatures.

It eventually wakes five of them from their trance, including the other short, weaponless creature.
(Just keeping track here: There were 9 enemies in the front, and 8 were stunned by Effort. Brask killed one and woke up one. That left 8 in the front, 6 of which were stunned. The crew then killed the injured woken one, and one of the stunned ones, leaving 6 in the front, 5 of which were stunned. The shaman on the other side of the ship performed a shark toss, and woke up the 5 remaining stunned crew in the front, meaning there is no one left stunned on the ship, including the shaman on Brask's side.)
"Pip!"Effort yells as the little goblin runs by. "Remember the basilisk eye!" (at least I am pretty sure Effort gave it to Pip)
As the effects of her spell are negated by the flow of battle Effort seethes. Cadmael, help me hit the dangerous one,she instruct the owl, taking aim at the short, weaponless creature near Brask.
Kurama has it almost right - the crew at the back of the boat ("Kurama side") has killed two creatures. But yeah, there were 18 in total at the onset of battle. Sorry if it was confusing, I know there's a lot going on...and now a shark too!
So there are two priestesses/shaman, one on each side. LMK if you want to keep your action - attacking the one on YOUR side (front of the boat).
Perhaps frustrated by the thrashing shark, Effort's first blast is off-target. It sails over the fish-like priestess, slowly dissipating out over the ocean. The second shot connects, singing the creature, although the damage done doesn't seem to slow her down.
(We might've skipped by Brask 's turn by accident)
Attempting to bob and weave through the attacks of multiples enemies, Kurama managed to make it out only slightly injured before attempting to retaliate against the group with the energy whipping all about.
Action: Attack (Hit 14/ Damage 7 Force)
Extra Attack: (Hit 26/ Damage 5 Force)
Bonus Attack: Patient Defense (flavored as the energy blocking missed attacks)
(AFAIK there's only 3 chains, if you bust this one up, we're done being hooked, lined, and sinkered)

Brask finds an undistracted opponent and duly attacks:
