While Soar is chasing down the man and returning, Badger would like to search the bodies of the two women to see if there's anything useful or interesting - notes, maps, information, trinkets, etc.
Investigation: 20
When Soar returns, she smiles at her. "Good work. I was careful not to actually shoot anyone this time... I guess I've gotten a lot of practice today because my aim is improved..."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Soar, you don't see anyone around. Clara and the kobold approach, staying nearer to you now that battle is over, and Clara is keeping watch for any approaching threats.
You search the body of the man who fled with Tored, or tried to, and find 13 silver pieces and 4 gold pieces.
Badger, you search the two women's bodies, and you find 35 copper pieces, 35 silver pieces and 13 gold pieces. You also find a couple of blue gemstones, which you can recognise as blue quartz, worth 10 gold pieces each. You don't find any maps, notes or other written materials.
Jalt, the kobold looks a little confused and sad. Go? Okay. Go home now. Goodbye, dragon-brother. He looks at the rest of you. Goodbye, dragon-brother's servants. He bolts west, headed out of town as far as you can tell.
Clara shakes her head. Strange creatures. She looks over your wounds, assessing; You folks ready to go? With that? she adds, nodding at the unconscious form of Tored being carried by Jalt.
Elspeth looks around. "I think we've covered everything that needs to be done. Let's head back before anyone comes to investigate the racket we made. I'll let you know what I overheard when we get back."
The party moves back through town, retracing its steps under the careful guidance of Clara. You pass by the streets, then south through the trees to the river bank, then following the river east again to reach the keep. It's no longer early night; you're not close to dawn yet, but certainly not too far from it either. You don't encounter any enemies, or anyone else, in the streets; though you move stealthily, there seems to be no-one around to see you.
Tored shows no signs of waking yet, despite the occasional moan. Lieutenant Gray greets you as you reach the gate that leads to the keep; her eyes fall on Tored, and she nods. Good. The governor will want to... speak... to that. She salutes as you pass, and you head into the keep.
Soar will take Tored directly to the governor, following Lieutenant Gray's suggestion. She's ready for sleep too but will carry out her task to the best of her ability.
Once she gets to him she will explain what happened and apologize for only getting what appears to be a thug and not a more important-looking member of this enterprise.
You walk up to the keep's walls, a now familiar flight of steps. The archers on the walls look at you wish respect as you join them, though you don't recognise all of their faces. Ah, you return, the governor says, and with a prisoner to boot. Excellent. Don't worry about his rank, I'm sure we will learn something from him. Please, set him down. No trouble I assume, Clara?
Clara salutes and gives a small smile; None at all, sir. May I return to my other duties?
You may of course, the governor nods. He watches her walk away, and sighs; If only I had a dozen more with her skills and focus. Anyway, yes, your prisoner.
The guards take the unconscious Tored, tie him up securely, and rest him against the parapet. The governor pulls what seems to be a small berry from his pocket, and hands it to one of the guards. Any suggestions before I wake him?
Jalt looks to Elspeth. I believe you said you had some information for us. Maybe the governor could use some of it. I must admit, I don't recall much of what just happened. He grimaces

"Yes, Elspeth, did you hear anything from the conversation the larger group was having before they dispersed?"Soar says, rolling her shoulders after setting Tored on the ground.
Elspeth nods her head, trying to stand up straighter in order to hide her exhaustion.
"Yes, I managed to spy on a group of the raiders. There was a purple-robed woman, who looked to be fairly important. They said-" She scrunched up her nose, trying to recall as much as she could in order to relay the information to her friends.
"They've taken some losses - acceptable, according to them - but I think they're taking up more time than they had intended. They mentioned someone called Lennithon? Hopefully this means they'll be leaving soon. They mentioned their lady several times, but I couldn't catch most of the context. The kobolds are under their command, of course." She frowned. "They also mentioned something about eggs, but I don't understand what they're referring to."
Lennithon? Purple-robed woman? Governor Nighthill shakes his head. It means nothing to me, but perhaps we will learn more from this minion of madness. Still, you have learned more already than we have all night. Perhaps you will join in the interrogation?
He gives a signal to the guard, who forces, not gently, a single goodberry down Tored's throat, massaging it down. A few seconds pass, and then Tored coughs, shudders, and wakes. He looks blearily around, his face darkening when he sees you and especially Soar. You. I'll gut you for what...
The guard smacks him across the face, grabs his shoulders, and forces his head to look upon the governor. I am the governor of this town, Nighthill says grimly. Whom to you serve, and why have you come here?
Tored looks up at the governor, and then his eyes dart from side to side. Realising he is outnumbered and at this man's mercy, he seems to try to relax and focus his attention on the man. Castellan Escobert comes up behind you and observes the scene too.
I serve coin, and no other master, milord, Tored says cautiously. My men... my... well, we were paid, and paid well, to come here and cause trouble. You'll hear the same story from half a dozen folks this night, I'm sure. They've been paying us for a week or so, raiding the smaller communities around the town. Tonight's the biggest raid yet, though I think they've plans for other towns in the... He trails off, as he sees the dark expression on the governor's face.
Who, asks the governor with special emphasis on that word, has plans? Whom do you serve?
Jalt, you know that dragon cults are far from rare. The real Gods are mysterious, their gifts often intangible, and many foolish souls are drawn to more visible sources of power, dragons among them. And many dragons, especially chromatic ones (like the one you fought today) are vain and enjoy the worship of humanoids. However, dragon cults are usually small and operate in isolated areas where they won't attract too much attention from powerful rulers and their armies. They are rarely able to mount a major attack on a town like Greenest; what's happening tonight is something new.
As for anything specifically called 'The Cult of the Dragon', no, you haven't heard of such a thing.
"What plans? If you get the loot, what do they get?" Soar asks, not the least bit afraid of Tored's threats.
"And you know how to handle yourself and people under your command, you could be a mercenary for any trumped-up lord, general, or bandit chief in the realms. Why pick this one? What else do you get from this? Are they taking common folk in captivity for anything... weird?"
She is not even acknowledging he threats, pretending like he is just a good friend who's had a bad go of things for a while and she's concerned for his well-being.

What would you like to do?
Is sleep an option? If they can drop Tored off somewhere and crash that seems ideal.
