Breena puts her arm around the guard missing his wife, trying hard to show a brave face as well. "If you die, Jalt, I'm gonna be really mad. So...don't. Okay? Cause you're my best friend and I love you."
Soar is putting on an optimistic face for Jalt's benefit but she is, not-so-deeply underneath, very frustrated that the dragonborn has bulled his way foolishly into this duel (in her opinion).
She will accept the handful of goodberries from Elspeth with a gracious expression, and walk behind Jalt wherever he goes, all the way to the outside if that's his destination.
She puts on a brave face but along the walk will keep muttering in draconic that he better not die because she and he still have to have a talk, trying out some draconic idioms about bravery and foolhardiness, but nevertheless running a stream of morale-boosting patter.
When/if they exit the keep and approach the cultists, she will immediately home in on the hostages and explain she is there to see the deal honored, and be Jalt's second, returning to the keep-side of the crowd once the hostages are safe and trying to stay within a dash of Jalt, concealing the berries in her shield hand.
Elspeth and Badger remain on the keep walls, as Jalt first, then Soar, descend. The governor gives the order, and the massive keep gates open once again, enough to let you both walk through, then close behind you. The sound of them slamming shut does little to reassure you, but you walk forward towards the waiting Cyanwrath and the semi-circle standing behind him, including the prisoners, now on their knees in a line.
Jalt, as you approach, Cyanwrath looks at you both and sneers. This is the Champion of Greenest? How weak the blood of our great kin runs in you, 'cousin'. You might be mistaken for one of these scaleless rats.
But no matter. I will face you. Your second, and he does not even look at Soar, will remain at a distance. We fight to the death. When we are done, regardless of who is the victor, the prisoners will be released and my forces will depart. My commanders have agreed to this. If you, your second, or any other watching from the keep walls violates the rules of single combat, the prisoners will be butchered and we will do as we please with the rest of you. Do you accept?
Soar nods, because she has no choice. She hates every bit of this, but she takes a deep breath and tries to cast out negative thoughts, believing in Jalt's abilities and the divine favor of Bahamut. She silently says some prayers to Kelemvor, telling Himself that it's not Jalt's time yet, and to lend him whatever strength she has remaining. "I hope I'm wrong, Jalt, and I'm the fool rather than you," she mutters to herself.
She tries to give the hostages a comforting, encouraging look. Still palming the goodberries in her shield hand, not reaching for her javelin so as to present a visible threat, and keeping her hammer close at hand but not brandishing it.
How far is Cyanwrath from the semicircle? Soar will try to place herself about the sam distance from Jalt, and rotate around a bit to also be a bit closer to the hostages.
The semi-circle of kobolds and prisoners stand about thirty feet from Cyanwrath, and it seems that Soar is expected to keep a similar distance from Jalt.
Jalt sneers at the "cousin" comment. You are a monstrosity of Tiamat. You are no "cousin" or family of mine. He starts to inch closer. These people will be freed, and if I fall here today, Bahamut will strike you down if you bring dishonor to all Dragonkind. He lifts his war pick and slams it against his shield. Majak Ve Wer Dastudr Ekess Nar Vhira Nomeno Ustdan, Bahamut.
Give me the strength to strike down this infidel, Bahamut.

Hoard of the Dragon Queen - Jalt Rhogar - Dragonborn Cleric (9)
With only the slightest move of his blue-scaled wrists, the towering half-dragon moves his greatsword as though it were the lightest rapier, and Jalt's blow is deflected.
Disappointing, but hardly surprising.
He steps forward, supremely confident, and makes two attacks with his greatsword:
Attack: 8 Damage: 10 Attack: 13 Damage: 15
He grunts, as Jalt demonstrates significant skill with shield to deflect the huge weapon with seeming ease.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
The mace strikes against the blue scales of the half-dragon, and draws a look of surprise. The Queen will guide my hand, he says confidently, resuming his attack:
Attack: 26 Damage: 12
The blow cut deep, deep into Jalt's side, slicing armour, flesh and bone. There is no stopping it.
Jalt staggers, and drops. Is there anything you want to say as you fall?
Cyanwrath spits on the ground. No, worm. It will not.
He raises his voice, and addresses all those who watch from the walls of the keep. Your town pillaged, your champion broken. This age is ending. A new age of glory comes. Tremble, for it will not kind to such as you. He smiles, a wicked triumphant smile, then turns, sheathing his greatsword, and marches away. The kobolds and other observers do the same, the hostages kneeling, unharmed but forgotten in the dirt, as the attackers take their spoils and go.
Soar calls out "NOOOO," drops her hammer where she stands, and runs toward Jalt's broken figure.
"Mercy! He faced you in single combat. Will you honor your end of the bargain and release them?" she says, dropping to the ground next to Jalt. She will wait until Cyanwrath replies and retreats, just a beat or two, and then drop a goodberry in Jalt's mouth, and then feign some crying while burying her head over him. She whispers through gritted teeth, "are you still there, you big lug? Lay still and quiet for a bit and we might be able to save the hostages."
Soar, you run towards Jalt, but Cyanwrath ignores you; he may not even hear you. The hostages have not been released as such, they have just been abandoned; the kobolds have left them kneeling in the dirt, unharmed but still bound and gagged. The children seem terrified, the adults not much better.
You reach Jalt, and force a goodberry down his throat; nothing happens for a moment, and then another moment, and then Jalt coughs, returning to consciousness. He is still badly wounded, not able to stand, and without more substantial healing, he may still die.
You hear the gates of the keep begin to creak open.
Soar feeds him the rest of the goodberries, and whispers "back in a tick," before rushing over to the hostages and doing her best to comfort them, untying and ungagging them, and offering to guide the group and carry the children. She is looking back at Jalt to see if he is going along with the charade until the cultists are out of sight.
