Edgewalkers Campaign Thread

Demetrios is just able to squeeze through, although it's tight.

Just as soon as Demetrios is through, Vusgaar takes a quick look through to see how far the whole stretched out of sight. If merely a literal hole in the wall, he starts shoving the unconcious cultist through afterwards, trusting the others to pull the body the rest of the way prior to attempting to go through himself. But if it looked more to be a tunnel, there is no hesitation.

Unless there was a chance the oversized shifter could conceivably pull the cultist in while crawling through, the man's throat is slit, and body left a ways from the whole as hopefully a distraction to lead them on another path.

The hole appears to be a small chute. You could drop the cultist down it if you wanted.

Demetrios and Meiara:

"We're all here, what now?"

Vik scowls. "Hide until the patrol's gone, obviously." They glance over the markings on your armor declaring you Edgewalkers. "What're you doing here? Your friends got captured?"

"Yes. We're here to rescue them before they get sacrificed and stop this cult for good."

Despite years of conditioning, Vusgaar flinches at the scowl, even if only directed at Meiara. "Indeed, Transcendent One. From our prisoner we were able to ascertain as much, and now seek to freedom them. Afterwards meeting both objectives, I suspect we shall be returning to base camp to report and recover." He states formally as usual, though visibly seems to struggle to keep his eyes locked on Vik's. "... If we may be so bold. Might we ask how you came to be here alone? Are we perhaps intruding upon your mission here?"

"Vik, just call me Vik," Vik mutters. "The cultists tried to grab me, but I got away, but I don't know the way out and don't want to wander the maze at night looking for one, so I've stayed here. You're not intruding on any Inspired mission or anything."

"Well fortunately for you, I've been creating a map of this maze. Once we've dealt with these cultists and rescued our friends, we'll lead you out of here."

Though Vusgaar does not appear to catch the words, seeing Vik even remotely upset left him tense. So eventually he moves closer to the chute to at least quietly keep an ear out for passing cultist until things calm down alongside Batican.

Perception: 20.

Vik shrugs. "Good. Who took your friends, the cultists? In that case, they'll probably be in the cells."

"Yes, that's where we're trying to get to. Without ending up in there, of course."

"I might be able to lead you there. But well...no offense, but you all look like crap. You should get some rest, and we can go attack when they're transporting the prisoners for the sacrifice."

"Well, we've burned through most of our spells fighting undead monsters, so I'm not going to disagree with you."

Trust no one, not even yourself: 18

 Vusgaar raised a brow, then looked over himself. Aside from some ruffled fur and dusty clothing he didn't look so bad? But a studious glance to the others eventually led to a faint nod of understanding. "I have fought with less. But... If your wish is to wait, Transcendent One, then it shall be done. If you can forgive this one's boldness, it would however be best that I and the Batican keep first watch. Out of everyone, our strength has not been so diminished." He waits for an answer. But even if not given the go ahead, he began the ritual of silent alertness so that a portion of it at least encompassed the immediate entrance from the chute. Meanwhile, the Batican would seek out a corner to keep active at tleast through 1st watch no matter the answer.

For DM:

"Yep, sure, okay, and seriously, just call me Vik," Vik mumbles. "I assume virtuous Edgewalkers like you won't be killing me in my sleep. Night." Without further ado, he flops down into the blanket pile and rolls to face the wall.

Meiara:

Meiara goes to bed.

Demetrios sets down the unconscious cultist in a corner, making sure to tighten their bonds so they couldn’t slip out again, and also gags him to prevent them from yelling for help if they wake up before the group does. He listens on the conversation between the rest of the team and the changeling as he does so. When they agree to retire for the night, the paladin does so, letting them know if a watch is needed, to wake him.

After several hours of getting sleep and feeling rejuvenated, you all wake up, ready to take on some cultists and hopefully not die!

"Today's the day. We should get going and rescue Talaak and Jenna."
