Edgewalkers Campaign Thread

 "Affirmative. Transcendent One. Do you know what path they are likely to take towards their sacrificial chamber? Or are there particular possible ambush points that you have been able to notice?" Vusgaar asked, seeming to still not have been able to determine the meaning behind Vik's mumbling the eve prior. "I ask, because you made mention of wishing to intercept during the transfer of prisoners to their sacrificial grounds? Or have you decided upon a more bold plan of attack that we should into account."

Vik frowns. "From what I can tell, they knock the prisoners out, then take them to the chamber about an hour before the ritual starts. They haven't done one while I've been here though, so I can't be sure. Best option would be to either grab them during transfer or while everyone's distracted with the ritual."

"I think that grabbing them during transfer would be a good idea. Is it possible for you to show us the route so that we could plan out an ambush?"

Vik nods. "Sure, I can show you." They hop up. "Let me know when you're ready."

"I believe that we're all ready to go."

Vusgaar starts then abruptly stops nodding in agreement. "Actually, give me... ten minutes. There is at least one preparation I wish to have ready before we move forward. It will not aid by much, but...may prove valuable should we encounter any cultist unaware and speaking in a tongue unfamiliar to us." He sits down and began tracing symbols in the ground with pinches of salt and soot around himself.

"What of our other prisoner? His value is approaching dangerously close to its opposite. If there are any last minute questions one wishes to ask -- Perhaps even about any secret communication methods or codes, now might be the only time for it." He states during the start of the process. The actual questioning he leaves to others to focus on the ritual.

"I have no further questions to ask him." 

When Demetrios rose after passing off the third watch (to whomever wanted it), he would do his usual morning prayers to The Inspired. When he is satisfied, he dons his armor and waits for everyone to finish their daily rituals as well. His eyes gaze over to the cultist in the corner, who probably might have been awake by now, when Vusgaar mentions him. "I doubt we'll get anything out of him now. Probably best we dispose of him."

If there are no objections, Demetrios ends them man's life in one swift snap of the neck.

A few moments later, you have one dead cultist (resulting in a slightly nauseated look from Vik), and you've climbed out of the safe spot and are following Vik to the location he claims the cultists will be at.

Meiara will look for any spots that look for a good place to keep hidden until it's time to launch an ambush.

Perception: 17

Meiara finds several good nooks and crannies you can all fit yourselves into (adv on Stealth checks to Hide from cultists in this area).

Vusgaar scratches his head, racking his brain for many an idea for the ambush. Unfortunately, he has to shake his head 'no' to others at any questioning looks. "If I could make rope invisible, perhaps, and we stretch it across the way, it would make for a decent trip wire of sorts. Regrettably, they would see it coming... unless of course the plan is to leave a length hanging out a ways to lure one or two into an adjacent nook. Perhaps that then?" He whispered to the others. Or if they risked discovery, would say as much once the group returned to their originally hideout.

"I don't know about that. But, I do have a spell that would make all of us significantly stealthier. Combined with the nooks and crannies in the area, it would be incredibly difficult for them to spot us while we wait to ambush them."

Vik nods. "Sure, great, cast the spell, then we need to hide before they get here!"

"Okay then." Meiara casts Pass Without Trace. Now everyone has +10 to Stealth in addition to advantage.

Stealth: 28

"As you wish. But, we should all be prepared not to expect aid from any potential sacrifice. Not immediately. Not if they have them drugged and bound in some fashion." He forewarns prior to finding his nook to hide in alongside Batican. When the moment was right(ie. as the cultist would pass), the Beasthide Shifter had every intentions of blinding them with a pair of daggers to the throat.

Vusgaar Sneakiness: 22.

Batician Sneakiness: 25.

“Thank you, Meiara,” Demetrios says, knowing that without the spell the chances of them being caught would have been much higher due to the weight of his armor.

The four of you settle into your hiding places to await the cultists. Sure enough, after only a few minutes, four cultists come around the corner, two of them carrying an unconscious and bound Talaak.

From her hidden position in the alcove, Meiara tosses out a Flaming Sphere at the two cultists carrying Talaak. 

8 fire damage. DC13 Dex Save for half.
