(@Orileo @Chill Yes, you are correct, Krom used the leather armor as base for crafting the new armor.)
@Krom That is actually unnecessary as the feature does not state you need something as a base. In this case as you made studded leather armor it has metal in it. You just use 45 gp worth of metal and get studded leather armor.
@Rhogar. You could head straight to barrow across the land and even at a slightly slower pace it would still be faster.
"Listen friend, you need some armor to protect you from dragon bites. There are enough funds to get you some studded leather armor. if you are concerned about depleting all of your funds the I'll go half with you. You pay 20 gp and I'll pay 25 and we'll cover that dragonborn hide in leathers. I won't take no for an answer. Get the armor now before we leave again. if we are headed north for several days then you'll want it now."
Speaking to Krom.
"I have no desire for the boots. So if I win the ax toss I get to pick who gets the boots, right?"
"Sure Chill, if you win you can choose who gets the boots." replies the dwarf.
"Regarding that studded leather armor, we still have a few spare blades that should give me a good base. I may still need a few more gold pieces to finish it." says Krom to Chill and Rhogar. (OOC we have still 20gp in orc blades, so with an additional 25gp pieces Krom can craft that studded leather armor.)
Linene inspects the flail Kazri shows her. "This is excellent work, I think the only way to improve this weapon would be to enchant it. But I cannot do that and no one in town could do that either. If you really want to pay me back then do some business here. If you don't wish to buy a bow or crossbow do as some of your companions have and pick up some armor? You could use a good set of plate if you want to go after a dragon. You certainly don't need to pay double. All I've done is aid our town by giving you some information. I'm really helping myself because if you take care of the dragon then the trade route between the east and Neverwinter will improve."
Before Rhogar can say anything Chill dips into his purse and hands Krom 25gp. "Done. Make him some sweet armor. Some bronze accents with lightning bolts I think."
"As you wish, I will go back to our house and do some work there then." Krom takes the 25gp, returns to the party's house and start working on Rhogar's studded leather armor. He will add as requested some lightning bolts here and there and will try to get shape the armor in order to match the dragonborn's natural scales. (OCC Krom will use Artisan's Blessing to craft the studded leather armor for Rhogar).
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Rhogar's expression turns stormy at the 'demand' behind Chill's statement. Even if meant done in good nature, by all accounts, it did not look as if it was taken as such. After a moment of silently glowering at the Tabaxi, he exhales through the nose and starts to open his mouth when Krom interjects. Then Chill jumps in, eliciting a snarl out of the Dragonborn followed by an attempt to grab the Tabaxi by the scruff of his top, and lift him bodily up in the air. Even if he can't quite get a hold of the wiry Tabaxi, he still growls at him as he says, "While the thought is... appreciated. When a dragonborn says they will not do something -- You DO NOT so casually cast their word aside. Well meaning your intent or not!" He states as he beared his teeth at him.
Though after a moment of heavy breathing, Rhogar blinks, shakes his head as if coming out of some transient state, then looks to himself for a moment prior huffing and storming out of the building. If any try to follow directly, they have a very persistent Ghorar intercepting them both physically in body blocking and with an image of Vixix looking imposing and in a clearly unforgiving mood. It is entirely hard to giver her the slip, either through bribery or just skill.Though if one does so...
If followed unstealthly/Or immediately directly confronted:
Rhogar keeps marching, ignoring any attempts to converse. But if he hears someone get too close once outside, he looks back just enough, letting the light of electricity building up in his maw and subtle crackling be the initial warning. If still insistent upon following even then, he does not hesitate to turn the breathe upon the space between dragonborn and pursuer, scorching the ground in a poignent display of 'Not. Right. Now' prior to turning away to keep walking.
If not:
Rhogar makes his way to a small clearing just outside of town, takes a seat on the ground, and would spend however long it takes for the others to finish their business in town, staring up at the sky. Occasionally the smell of Ozone or the crackle of electricity courses over his scales. But, he never releases a breathe or spell in the time he's away. Just, stares up at the cloud, seeming half lost in thought and half annoyed at something.
In either case, Ghorar sticks with the group. So when talk turns to readying to go, she zips off some distance away, and then back again to alight upon Chip's shoulders. Rhogar's return to the group isn't long after this event; a melancholy look staining his features. He would offer nothing on where he left, only a quiet and curt apology for the outburst prior to climbing inside. At least willingly, in any case, though if pressed... it depends.

OOC: Just going to RP getting the armor after the discussion of the bell and stuff but before coming back to play the game for the boots since Kazri was gone and all
Chip would make his way through the small town, occasionally sliding his hand into his pocket and feeling the figurine of Chirrax. He would even pull it out and glance at it as he approached Linene's shop. He surprised even himself with how well it turned out and the cuts he had managed to aquire on his hands in the process worked out in his favor... using the his blood to stain the figures of Chirrax and Rek. As he made his way into the shop, he would begin digging into his bag looking for coin. "Can I get a set of studded leather please? I will trade my old set.. it is in really good shape.." He would say as he finally looked up from his coin pouch and saw Kazri standing there. "Oh! hey... uhh.. good morning... are you buying equipment today too?" He would say almost looking a bit emberrassed. "I know Krom could have whipped me up something but.. I don't know.. I didn't want to bother him and the equipment I have purchased here has always done wonders for me in the past!" He would say with a smile to Linene. "This coin should cover the cost of the armor" He would say sliding the coin towards her. Then looking back to Kazri he would smile. "Linene made my old set of leather armor so it is no suprise it held up so well... My longsword and dagger are her handywork too... I uhh.. didn't have a whole lot when I got into town..." He would say as his eyes moved down towards his feet. "Anyway, I think we are going to play a little dwarven drinking game later... it involves throwing axes... it sounds pretty fun." He would finish as he puts on his new armor and makes his way out the door.
OOC: Kazri can feel free to add dialog in there. I just didn't want to hold up the game leaving it open and stuff. Just assume as far as game progression goes, that Chip is back with the group and ready to throw axes or whatever :D
“Ohh. Hello there Mr. Tune-Tail. I did not know that you have already used Ms. Graywind’s services. It is good to see you here.” She turns to Linene. “Mr. Tune-Tail here is one of my companions. Unfortunately I have everything that I need." She looks at the linene unsure of what else to say. "Well, so I hope that the next time I see you, I have better news regarding this Dragon business. I thank you for all your help. Farewell until then." She turns to Chip. "I am returning back at our house, Mr. Tune-Tail. I see you later."

As Rhogar tries to grab hold of him, suddenly upset that he would get the armor he had seemingly wanted to get, Chill would do his best to slip out of the way.
"I don't get it." He says to Rhogar whether he is listening or not, he'll speak even if it is to his back as he walks away "You wanted armor and now you'll get some and while you saidIf any of you require something, you would GLADLY offer up your share of the payment but get all pissy when one of us GLADLY gives up a portion for something you require. I say get over yourself. You want to look out for us, well I want to look out for you. I've got more money in my pocket right now then I've ever had over my entire life and I find I don't have much attachment to it so I'll use it to help my friends. I don't see the problem. But whatever, walk away..."
After seeing Rhogar and Chill exchange, Krom says "Rhogar, we understand that you want to look out for us, but as Chill said we also want to look out for you. We may all be of different heritage, dwarf, dragonborns, human, tabaxi, half-orc, but we are all in this endeavour together, so it is normal to look out for each other. We are comrades, feel free to lean on us from time to time, and we will lean on you as well."
As Rhogar exits the tavern, Krom says to the others, "Let's gather a few barrels of beer and bring them to our house. We have a game to enjoy tonight!" the dwarf then speaks with the tavernkeeper purchasing several barrels of beer. He will then leave the tavern smiling and humming a dwarven song.
(OOC Krom will purchase a few barrels of beer and bring them to the party's house and prepare the target.)
(@DM Has Krom found a way to dismantle the bell in order to purchase the parts for Kazri's Plate mail? If there is still material/gold pieces left and if the party agrees, Krom would love a set for himself too, if it is too expensive he will set for a spint mail.)
Krom can't figure out how to break apart the bell without a forge to melt it down first. But with all of the prospecting in the area he wonders if the guildmaster at the Phandalin Miner’s Exchange would be able to buy it.
He also realizes that he still has his old chain mail armor since he is now wearing the mitral armor and figures it to be worth about 37 gold and 5 silver pieces.
"Chip, would you mind bringing home the barrels? I will pay a visit to the Miner's Exchange first. They may be able to purchase our golden bell." Krom will then head to the Exchange.

Chill grins at Rhogar.

Entirely possible if you wish to play it out that way.
