Chill makes his way up to the top. There he finds a number of chimneys but most appear to have been damaged over time by rockslides or even the occasional earthquake. These don't provide enough room to climb down. He does however find a chimney that he and the others of the party can fit down.
He is able to report this back to the others if they also wish to climb up or he can go down himself.

Rhogar started to explain, only for Ghorar to send her impressions alongside feelings of both fear and hunger from the psuedodragon. In seeing some getting a far off look, and reconizing it to be 'her' message, with a snort, Rhogar turned his attention towards watching Chill make his ascent. "If we are to go through the top then, they'll be our first of likely MANY a foe, if this talk of undead to be an ongoing issue." He comments on idly.
Then a thought occurs, and after some coaxing Ghorar agrees to try and carefully wind her towards each of the fire place one at a time, fluttering where necessary to avoid any direct contact with the webs. Though if the entry ways appear to be blocked, she'd send another image back to the others(Chill included) of the issue before being bamfed out by Rhogar.
"Speaking of going up, we... did supply with rope, yes?" He asks, looking to the others worriedly.

Ghorar is able to quietly inspect the 2 fireplaces in the room without disturbing the spiders. She finds that both appear blocked to the point that while she could fit in them a medium sized person could not.
"Perhaps, I can go down the fireplace and help Chill open the portcullis from inside." Suggests Kazri.

"Either way it seems at least one of us will have to go inside it seems. With what resides in this place I would rather that none of us be caught alone for to long." Rekuberk says as he continues to mess about with his hand axe.
"Well I will be the first to volunteer to stay here until the gate is open!" Chip would say with a smile. "but allow me to inspire you all a bit with a quick tune.." the dragonborn would add as he strums on his war lute.

"I have a couple of ropes we can use." says Krom to the group. The dwarf considers all the options and then says "Entering a room full of spiders one by one without making noise will be an hard task. We may end surrounded before we all enter. However, Chill, being a very stealthy scout and being able to see in the dark, could make his way down and open the portcullis without disturbing the spiders. But without the Sending stones we will not be able to know if Chill is in danger or not. My vote is for entering all together, we should not split the group when we know that there are undead stalking the fortress." Krom then takes out from his backpack two 50ft ropes and ten pitons. "With those items even a dwarf like me will be able to climb and descend without too much trouble. Can any of you throw them to Chill so that we can start climbing?"
"Chip", says Krom to the dragonborn, "it may be better to reconsider and climb, the banshee can sense living beings and you do not want to get caught by her when you are alone."
A recently teleported Ghorar hisses at Krom, and needed to be physically restrained and petted by her Dragonborn to calm once more. A taxing job, as he hardly had a moment to thank Chip for the emboldening words. Once she did, he couldn't help but chuckle before finally addressing the others. "Ghorar could go with him, and act as our go between. But that may not matter. Unless this chimney Chill--" He throws a thumb back to the shouting catman. "--has found is some other, I'm afraid we will be stopped part way by a blockage closer to the bottom. Allow Ghorar to check from the top, and if it is, we may have no other choice. At the very least, she could hold back the locking mechanism so that the rest of us can lift up the portcullis."
With that, Rhogar passes her the good rope to fly up to the chip to tie off at the top. The imagery of which she sends the Tabaxi, followed by one of a picture of her flying down one the tabaxi is looking down. Once she had her directions, she carefully flutters her way down to confirm her discovery before relaying the message.
(@All: I can't remember how many Chip can get with the mantle, but I'd definitely prefer Ghorar to take Rhogar's place if it does have a creature limit)

Ghorar brings the rope up to Chill who is able to find a place to tie it off.
She then descends the chimney to find there is plenty of room for each party member to get down. The shaft is about 20 feet down and shouldn't be too difficult to navigate.
She also peaks into the room.
The fireplace and chimney are built into the west wall of this room. The room’s other furnishings — cots, tables, chairs, and empty footlockers — are intact but covered in dust.
She sees nothing else in the room but a set of closed doors on the east wall.

Using the rope you are each about to climb to the top of the roof. Plenty of foot and hand holds help along the way.
Going down the chimney is the harder part and a bit of a tight squeeze for some of the larger members of the party. You all make the climb and descent safely.
You now find yourselves in a room 15x25 in size. A door on the east side is made of thick, sturdy oak reinforced with iron bands and fitted with iron hinges and handles.
Chill checks the door and finds it unlocked.
The one thing you also notice is a foul stench lingers in the room. It's not very strong but certainly noticable.
