Those devious bastards. That is kind of clever. But what do we do about it from this point ?

Lucia looks frustrated. She says, "Honestly it was an oversight on my part. It was dumb to think they'd keep trying to assassinate us normally after it failed so many times. I guess we keep our guard up and change bases."

Perhaps, instead of going deeper into the slums we could throw them off by going across the city to a higher class district with naturally more guards? 

Kate says, "We can go where ever because I've exhausted all my merc contacts."

Lucia says, "We can stay at a hotel again but at such a place, it will cost us a lot. Can we afford to stay in the higher class area of town?"

Our options are getting fewer by the day. If the delay continues to be this consistent, can we expect a couple days have been bought by this stunt? 

Lucia says, "Well, they have to report the failed trap to the boss so I think we have 2 or 3 days before they can make their next move."

So we have 2 days to safely maneuver. I think we can afford a couple days in a middling hotel. We should use the next couple days to get stronger and prepare more fully. Perhaps we could spread some misinformation and throw them off our trail? Maybe make them think we left town? 

"That might work. Now that we don't have a spy, we should be able to do the same thing we did when luring out Shirai. Though I think we should try and find a lead. Our strength won't matter if we can't find Boss Rat."

Agreed. Perhaps we could try to get a spy of our own. Do you think Priya is up to the task ?

"She might be but with how the gang is structured, I think it will take much longer than 2 days to find the identity of Boss Rat unless..." Lucia thinks for a bit. "There is one person we can have as a spy to get faster results... Do you remember how we deduced that there's a Cleric or a Paladin working for Rat Liver? What if we pretend to get Ingrid to join their cause. Then we can track down the Cleric and shake him down for information."

That does not sound very safe.. Ill do it! Ingrid interrupts Tomoe.  I vowed to help in any way i could. Let me do this Onee-sama.

Kate asks, "You sure you can do this?"

Sure, i just have to infiltrate some fanatical group of clerics and paladins, convince them i am one of them and relay information back to you with out getting caught and killed. Easy.

You do not have to do this Emi-chan. We can find another way.

This is your best chance to get a strong new lead to Boss Rat. I have to do this, i swore an oath to do what ever it takes to serve you Onee-sama. 

Tomoe gives Ingrid a big hug. My brave little Ingrid. Lucia, what does she need to do? 

Lucia says, "There must be some way this Rat Cleric is recruiting the paladins and clerics. I will give a sweep of the slums and see if I can find any Clerics or Paladins or Holy Knights. Then we send Ingrid their way and have her pretend to be totally into their ideals. Boss Rat may be clever but the recruited Holy Soldiers doesn't seem to as smart. I believe this will work."

Sounds good. I will scout out potential new temporary lodgings in the mean time. Kate, would you mind coming with me and Ingrid? I would like my friends close right now. 

Lucia heads out to the scout out the slums while Kate joins Tomoe and Ingrid in hunting for houses.

There are various inns with various prices. The range is narrowed down to 75 GP to 120 GP per night depending on which inn you're going to.

For now, lets go with the 75g option.

Alright. You successfully check into a hotel like that. It's going to take a while for Lucia to get back. What are you doing in the mean time?

Buy supplies to change Ingrids look. We will dye her hair bright red if possible and remove any identifying marks on her armor and other equipment. We change out her spear for an axe (purchasing a battle axe). And we practice a new temporary name, Sarah.

That will be 25 GP for a disguise kit and 10 GP for a battle axe. This comes up to 35 GP total.
