Kate speaks up, "So, Tomoe, how about it? You and me go and find a new place to hole up in while Lucia goes and does her detective thing. Mystery and Ingrid... I don't know. They can do whatever but there's no need for them to come with us." From the look in Kate's eyes, Tomoe can tell that she has something to say to her... privately.

Once Kate is sure she's a bit of ways away from prying ears she turns to Tomoe, looks her dead in the eyes and says, "Alright, you want to tell me how Ingrid REALLY came back to life?"

Back at base, Ingrid says, "So..." She looks for things to say to break the awkward silence. "What was your life like growing up?"

I do not know much. I wandered for a bit and happened upon some clerics. They said they would perform funeral rights. The rest is a blur until this morning when she was presented to me alive again. I was so out of it last night that I do not even remember buying Mystery. I do not remeber much at all from yesterday. Tomoe leave out e ough to keep the contract and emphasises her lack of awareness is due to the grief fueled malaise she was in. Enough truth to sell what she isnt telling doesnt matter and isnt remembered. 

Kate keeps staring at Tomoe. It looks like she doesn't fully buy what is being told to her but she isn't dismissing it either. Most probably, she is conflicted. She doesn't think Tomoe is lying but she doesn't think her story lines up either. Eventually she let Tomoe off the hook by saying, "If I were you, I'd have Lucia look into it. Something doesn't add up. Magic to bring dead people back... it's expensive man. "

DM: How resurrection works in this world is that the dead stay dead and can't be ressed normally. However resurrection spells do have mechanical benefits. Each resurrection spell only works on people during battle. Revivify, Raise Dead and Resurrection all take 1 action to cast and can only bring people back while the battle they died in are still going. Outside of battle they can still bring people back to life but they can only do this up to 3 times per day. The difference between these spells is the HP the person is brought back with (during battle) and the penalties they have to their stats (out of battle). They can't bring anyone back if they have been dead from disease, if the body has been disintegrated (or other such effects) or if more than 1 day pass. In such situations, True Resurrection is needed. For True Resurrection, if the person has been dead for no more than a day, True Resurrection can bring them back an unlimited number of times during that day, provided they did not die of disease. If more than 1 day has passed and/or they died of disease, True Resurrection can bring the person back a total of 3 times. After that, the person can't be brought back by any means. The Reincarnation spell works like True Resurrection but it randomizes the gender and race of the person being brought back.

Of course, the guys worshiping the Heretical Gods have ways of still bringing people back even when True Resurrection has failed but... well in 40K, would you want to worship Chaos Gods if they gave you extra power? The heretical gods are like that. There's always a way for them to further their agenda.

My coin purse is quit a bit lighter than I remember. I would sell all i own to have brought her back.Regardless, my reckless spending seems to have left us with a shortage of money.  We will have to go back to work to restock our supplies. Perhaps I could take Mystery to the arena to hone her magic? She said she just acquired it. The slave master did not know anything about her magic. Tomoe rambles a bit. Her emotions are still unstable and her composure is weakened. For thay matter, I am sure we are running out of places to operate out of. Is it still not a good idea to seek organized allies?

Kate says, "Yeah, taking Mystery to the Arena might be a good idea. You still have that revival potion right? Give it to her and send her in. More than the money, it would get her more up to speed on her skills and abilities. If we attack Rat Liver with her in the state she is in currently, she won't live to see the end of the fight." Regarding organized allies, she asks, "What do you mean organized allies? Who can we even ask for help?"

I do not know. I had hoped someone who opposed Rat Liver would have approached us by now. We are making a noticable effort after all.

Kate shrugs and says, "People who oppose Rat Liver... aren't that many. The two strongest gangs, Ao Oni and Bronzor and in an eternal turf war. Most anti-gang people would target them. It's part of the reason why Rat Liver has become as powerful as it has. There is no one to oppose it and with it's fragmented structure, no one even notices how big the gang actually is."

Tomoe sighs. Very well. Then let us atleast find a new hideout.

After searching about, following the same principle Lucia set, you find a inn which offers lodgings for 30 GP a night.

This will work. Let us reserve a room and return to collect the others. We can visit the arena tonight and see how Mystery performs.

Kate agrees to the suggestion. Now Tomoe heads back to base with Kate.

Meanwhile what is Mystery doing?

DM: Because you know Tomoe better than me, you answer this question as Ingrid.

Ingrid is a bit shocked at first, learning Mystery is a slave, but then answers Tomoe is kind. I am sure she bought you because it was the only way she could save you from your old life of slavery. My Onee-sama Desires to protect those who cannot protect themselves. I cannot say for sure how a slave would feel in any fasion, but I would be proud to have a master like Tomoe. She will be good to you.
