As the brute gets into range moving through the catwalks while also maintaining balance, he eventually gets close to Mystery who then immediately tires to degrade her opponent's life force. However, she is unable to dent his vitality.

Mystery tries to get away but she can't seem to find anyway around Brown Bear. Her spells keep fizzling out. He grabs his sword and slams it down on Mystery but she manages to move out of the way. The sword slams to the ground and leaves a crack.

20 damage. That's instant death. You probably should have had some other form of attack besides Toll the Dead.
Mystery tries to shift to the back but she feels a firm hand tug on her hair. She's been caught by her opponent. Then as she gets lifted of the ground, she quickly tries to get a spell off. However, Brown Bear shoves his three finger into her mouth and then... POP!. Mystery's jaw breaks completely and begins hinging on skin. As she quickly grasps to try and stop the continuous bleeding, Brown Bear slices through the top part of her skull with his sword. Mystery falls to the ground and her brain spills on to the floor.
Battle end.
Mystery wakes up much later, brain and jaw fixed. Looks like she didn't make it. Luckily the Revival Potion came in handy.
That... wasn't a level 3 fighter. That wasn't even a level 1 fighter. That was a guy with a great sword (and Great Weapon fighting fighting style), 13 AC and 27 health. The only thing he had better than a level 1 fighter was his larger health pool. Honestly I was expecting Mystery to just shoot him from across the arena or half-way across the arena with a crossbow and kill him before he even gets close.
The arena charges you an extra 500 GP for reviving Mystery (subtracted). Now you're going to have to come up with either some way to train Mystery without dying or just leave her to do her own thing during the Boss Rat and then re-join her afterwards (assuming everyone survives)
