So, we would hire her to, at the least, stay out of our way. And at best, to investigate this mystery person. Emi-chan has the right idea sending Mystery I think. Are her kind treated better in City of Haze?

Worth an attempt, as long as it doesn't endanger her life. I would hate to make enemys with some random person because they had a superiority complex and killed my servant. Such an insult is not forgivable in my family. Loyal servants are protected. But that is a bridge to cross when we get there. If everyone is ready, we should put on some traveling cloaks and start our journey.

Kate asks, "Are you sure you want all of us to start going? The moment we step through the gates of Brass City towards City of Haze, we tip off the gangs that we might try something. Best not to start our journey in that direction yet if we do plan on sending Mystery with a message." Lucia adds, "Chief, we aren't dealing with Rat Liver anymore. There's no 3 day delay to take advantage of. They have horses that can reach City of Haze long before we can. If we set off in that direction we can assume they have a reason to be paranoid."
"Drake Island! Sadly that won't work as a misleading detour as we'd need to take a boat from City of Haze pier to go there." Kate explains.
Lucia thinks for a bit and then gives her view of the matter, "The way I see it, we're stuck. We could have sent Mystery alone to deliver the warning but that's too dangerous. If we try to go there ourselves, the gang will drop a sniper-shaped problem on our heads. We don't have the money to hire both Kitty-Kat and a bodyguard for Mystery at the same time. So here's something we can do. Money is being a limiting factor and as long as we don't go towards the city, we shouldn't have to worry about having the sniper hired to take us out." She thinks for a bit before adding, "I don't think just the fact that I am still alive alone is going to have them sent hitmen. If that was enough for the two gangs to get on our case, they wouldn't have waited this long and we'd all be dead by now. Why? They clearly know that I'm alive. They have informants in this city. Why then would they not try to finish the job and take me out? I think they don't know that I have some of my memory. Hearing about me joining two others to take down Rat Liver might have led them to believe that I had more of my memory and thus forgot all about this Equazzar. If that's the case, as long as they think I'm a non-threat they wouldn't spend so much hiring a merc that we have no hope of stopping. That means we have all the time in the world to prepare as long as we DON'T go to the City of Haze."
Lucia then pauses for a bit and gives her idea, "Assuming that we do have all the time we need as long as we don't head towards the City of Haze; we can go dungeon delving or do something else to get more money. Right now being short on cash is causing a bit of an issue because we don't have enough to hire a merc that will investigate the gangs in our place and we can't pay both Kitty-Kat and a second merc. What if we raise up enough to send Mystery over there with a bodyguard? The barkeep in Golden Dune did say a lot of his patrons specialized in combat. They may not be good for investigating but they will be good as bodyguards. The gangs don't know Mystery. She's an ex-slave with no background and she wasn't involved in the Rat Liver battle. If she goes to the City without any of us with her, they won't know for sure that she's with us. It's dangerous to send her alone so why not hire a merc to go with her as protection?"
Kate says, "Well, we at least need 6K right? Maybe more than that if we want to stock up on Revival Potions. No matter what, I'd rather not die but if I do, I'd rather it not be permanent. As for how to get it, we can try the Arena. It's safe but can be slow since a death would mean we'd be spending 3000 GP worth of Revival Potions. Has a risk to set us back but as long as we have at least one of the potions handy, it's probably the safest option. A little less safe but more rewarding would be scouring the parts of the map that don't have any landmarks and try to find a base. Maybe read up on local legends to see if we can find any ruins mentioned. We could do some merc work ourselves. That would give us a bit less money to work with as usually mercs don't come prepackaged with a team. Usually the guy hiring is the guy that builds the team if they do need more than 1 merc."
(I'd like to something that would also progress me closer to level 6. But not too life threatening. A little life threatening is ok, but some of these fights you run are bit brutal. Not a bad thing, just a touch stressful at these low levels)
Exploration has seemed to give us the best payout. As long as we stay away from....thay house. Tomoe shivers as she recall the nightmare encounter they all just barely survived.

Lucia shakes her head, "Yeah I have no idea what that was. We need to be very careful while we rest in the forest or in a ruin."
((Yeah exploring would be something that would give you XP to progress toward level 6. The Arena is actually pretty safe in that sense. Mostly because even though you can die, as long as you have Revival Potions for every person you send in, death won't be permanent. Wins will also give you XP. The problem though is that it is SLOW. Unless of course, you fight as Tomoe to increase the difficulty and therefore increase the payout and the XP gain. ))
Kate says, "Alright then. It's settled. We're going to go explore the area."
((Ideally, I would like to have Morrowind Style exploration where you're walking along to see if you can find a cave or something but since that's hard to do on paper, I'll tell you what we're going to do. Look at the Canyon map and give me a vague area that you're going to explore. Like pick a place on the map and just tell me something like "The lake south of Rat Liver base" or "That triangular piece of dark forest North of Water Temple" etc. If you're feeling a bit more ballsy, you could try exploring one of the landmarks on the map that everyone has some knowledge of like "The Hive" or "Temple of Thunder". If you want to know more about these locations, check the campaign page. It has some info on it.))
The trip to the triangular patch of forest that the party could see on the map was uneventful. They reached their destination on the third day and now they had to scour it for potential ruins and dungeons. Splitting up in a forest like this would make them easy targets to be picked off one by one. So it is safer to stay as a joint search team even though it is slower.
Pick one person as the search leader. That person needs to roll any one skill check of your choice: Survival/Perception/Investigation/History/Nature/Arcana
