Now feeling a lot lighter and also 2.5K richer, Tomoe heads, or rather is guided by Lucia, to the Theater in the Diurnal District. This is different from the arena. While that holds special matches and exhibitions this one is usually for amateur plays which are cheap to get tickets for and even sign up for if one wishes. Sometimes they also host highly acclaimed theater troupes but today is not one such day. Kate and Ingrid are waiting outside the gates for Tomoe to show up.
Tomoe spins in place, showing her new armor You like it? Lucia had it made for me. It shows off bit more than im used to, but I love it. As for what it does, I'll have to spend more time in it to really figure it out.

"Heh. Can't wait to see you kick ass with that." From the corner of her eye, Tomoe notices Ingrid staring daggers at Lucia. Lucia, either oblivious to it or ignoring it declares, "Hey let's go inside! The play's starting."
The play that was being hosted that day was by a local amateur group. The plot was that the Abyss Queen had returned to the world again with new nefarious plans. The old hero of the 2nd Star, Go'an was resurrected to reclaim his legendary sword, Skywind to defeat her.
Whether or not the Abyss Queen was evil, is unknown and different people hold different views. However it seems that this story very much considers her as a force of evil. The Abyss Queen was played by a Green Ironskin Dragonborn while a dark haired half-elf played the role of Go'an. The real Abyss Queen was an Yuan-Ti but in the current age, Yuan-Ti have all fallen to heresy so a green dragonborn was probably best casting choice. The play ended with Go'an poking the Abyss Queen with a Skywind made of wood and painted blue and the Abyss Queen dying in an over the top spray of fake blood.
Kate grew up in the streets so she doesn't exactly know much about the history or the heroes in question other than what she heard from the streets. "Not sure. I heard The Night Mother just disappeared one day. I don't think she was evil though. Not sure who Go'an is though."
Lucia responds, "Eh not exactly. Go'an and the Abyss Queen were both from the 2nd Star Age which is before Edo's isolation policy. I think the Abyss Queen stuck around for a few years Edo started the policy since she was someone that around in the last parts of the 2nd Star Age. The play is a fake story where both Go'an and the Abyss Queen came back in modern times to fight each other."
Kate asks, "Is the sword fake too?" "Well, I do remember reading that Go'an did have a magic blue sword called Skywind but... I don't know if the sword is out there somewhere."
Oh, I see. We have a story from around that time. If I remember correctly, the goddess of the moon, Tsukuyomi, decended from her place in the heaven. It is said she fell in love with a mortal man and would visit him in the guise of a multi tailed white fox. One day she revieled herself to him. She was tall and beautiful, and wrapped in a dress as deep and purple as the night sky. He was captivated and they began a love affair.
Tomoe pauses the story to gauge the groups reaction.

Lucia seems very interested to listen. Kate isn't bored but she isn't super interested either. She wouldn't mind hearing the rest of the story. It seems to make sense given Kate has had terrible luck when it comes to her own love life.
Tomoe continues Well, it turns out that some gods can be quite jealous. Her twin sister, the sun goddes Amaterasu, grew angry that her sister spent so much time with a mortal and not with her own kind in the heavens. Amaterasu would begin to weave a web if lies. Over many years, she poisoned her sisters mortal lover against her. Amaterasu tricked the mortal into believing Tsukuyomi was using him for her own gains. The mortal man swore revenge against the goddess he once loved and had the legendary sword Smith, Masamune, craft him a sword capable if killing a God. It is said that the sword that was forged was the greatest sword Masamune would ever make. It glowed blue in the moonlight and it's edge never dulled. With it, the mortal man raised an army and marched upon the heavenly mountain to war against the gods. In the end,the man found his revenge and slew his former beloved. But he was betrayed again , as when he beheaded Tsukuyomi, Amaterasu freed his mind from her spells. Devastated at what he did the man had his name erased from all history and wandered the lands alone until he died as a nameless wanderer, alone and unloved. Noone knows what happened to his magic sword.

Lucia says, "That's an interesting story. I don't remember anything in Chronero that seem like it is connected. I mean all the gods are still alive and having a dead god would probably bring about a new age. I wonder how old the tale is."
She theorizes, "Could the nameless warrior have been Paraxo, the former king of the gods? I remember what caused the demon war and the change of pantheon from the 2nd Star gods to the new gods is that Paraxo had become infected by some strange otherworldly parasite and he killed all the other gods except Exal, who sealed him in an alien plane.
Tomoe thinks. It is possible. With the mortal man's name erased from history and many of Edos old God being killed, there could be some ssimilarities. Though Edos prime deity is became Amaterasu after her sister was killed. Beforehand they shared power. Inari is probobly the most important though. He is the Kami of rice, agriculture and industry. And Sake.

No, Inari presents himself as a fox. He's not as powerful as Amaterasu and he bows to her will. But he is often consider more important in the common folks daily lives.

Lucia breathes a sigh of relief. "For a second there, I thought Edo might have been accidentally worshiping one of the more dangerous evil deities." Collecting herself again, Lucia adds, "Other than the connection to the fox, Inari sounds like Cragnar, god of unity, earth and riches. He looks more like a giant clay statue of a king though. He has a long furred robe. He also likes to drink though he's not the god of alcohol."
Defenetly not. In proper circles, Sake is seen as a gift from Inari. It is only made when there is a bountiful harvest as there is more rice than needed. It is a luxury and those who drink to excess are looked down on for wasting a divine gift. As Inari is directly linked to agriculture and the various physical, spiritual and commercial benefits, he is a beloved deity. He can be fickle and does not always bestow a bountiful crop.
As for foxes, they are seen as divine creature so many of the upper Kami will have fox motifs. Though Inari is the only one who presents as pure fox.Amatetasu, the goddess of the sun and chief among the Kami, wears large flowing robes and hides her face behind divine light so mortals can not look directly upon her. She often presents herself with multiple fox tales, depending on the season.
